Five Bedroom Villa Cortona
Set in a beautiful and tranquil position close to the beautiful medieval town of Cortona, Villa Selene is composed of a 19th Century villa and two separate cottages, all beautifully restored and surrounded by extensive grounds with gorgeous gardens and secluded areas ideal for relaxing and dining al fresco. In a panoramic position below the villas is the large private swimming pool.
Situated in the valley below the town of Cortona proudly perched on the hillside just 1 km away, Villa Selene was originally a country residence. Now fully restored, the elegant villa and cottages retain many of the original... characteristics. The main villa is on two floors and has been elegantly furnished in traditional style with many turn of the century antique pieces. On the ground floor is a beautiful living room which boasts an inviting sitting area complete with fireplace. Archways lead to the dining area and a fully equipped kitchen, and there is a handy washroom with w.c. A staircase leads from the living room to the first floor, where there are three pretty bedrooms and two bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower. The bedrooms open onto a terrace which is furnished with table and chairs and is ideal place for dining al fresco whilst admiring the panorama.
In the grounds are two separate cottages. The Winery cottage originally housed the family?s precious wine stores and has now been carefully restored. The unusual elongated living room has a kitchen area, a dining area with table and chairs, a comfortable sitting area and has a light and airy atmosphere thanks to the patio doors which open directly onto the terrace at the front of the cottage. There is a spacious bedroom also opening onto the front terrace and a shower room.
The second cottage, which originally housed the villas delicately scented lemon trees, still retains original beamed ceilings and cotto floors. Its? living room has a sitting area, dining table and chairs, kitchen area and there is a double bedroom and shower room. Both the living room and bedroom have lovely arched glass patio doors opening directly onto the terrace at the front of the cottage.
The villa and cottages are immersed in lovely mature grounds with majestic cypress trees, colourful plants and many secluded spots for relaxing in the garden or by the private pool (9m x 4m), set in a lovely position below and with fine views of the valley and medieval Cortona on the hillside. Cortona, just 1 km away and accessible on foot is a charming town. Rich in history, it is a joy to explore and has a variety of shops, and restaurants. Within easy driving distance are many of the finest places of interest of Tuscany, including Siena, Montepulciano, and Pienza. Lake Trasimeno and the Umbrian towns of Perugia and Assisi can also be easily reached. Villa Selene is a perfect choice for a group travelling together as in total accommodates up to ten persons, yet the individual accommodation and secluded gardens offer discreet privacy to guests.
