The home is surrounded by 880 acres of agricultural farm land and river bottom that comprise the main property of The Teller, a private wildlife refuge and conservation organization. My husband and I held our early September wedding in the lawn of the Slack Home and our reception in the Slack Barn.
Sherrie and the rest of the Bitterroot Cabins staff were very kind and helpful. They were able to promptly answer all of my many questions.
The home was beautiful- a perfect backdrop for our photos. I really enjoyed the large upstairs bathroom where my bridesmaids and I prepared on the day. We had hoped to be able to have our guests relax on the nice enclosed porch of the deck (with great furniture!) but it was a little too cold that night.
As for the barn, we knew what we were getting and that was a very rustic location. If you need a dance-floor for your event- remember to make sure you have one reserved! We had to get one last-minute the day before the wedding. We really appreciated the cost-savings of the included tables and chairs, but some of them were pretty unusable so I would plan to rent a few extra.
The best part of the slack home was definitely the surrounding scenery. There had been a fire nearby before our wedding and instead of negatively effecting our wedding, it really made for beautiful photos! The backdrop was just breathtaking, with the sun setting in an orange sky behind blue mountains with a smokey mist hanging low in the valleys.
