Additional Location Information

Cossignano
Cossignano stands on a hill, about 400 meters above sea level, and it's only 15 km from the sea. The town dominates the surrounding hills and it offers beautiful panoramas that go from Sibillini Mountains to Adriatic Sea. From the Adriatic highway you can reach us by the Valtesino, just at South of Grottammare.
A little castle of medieval origin stands out between the houses of the village. The architectural structure of castle walls is similar to the castle with the historical center clearly demarcated from the old town walls (regular oval-shaped of meters 180 x 90); it dates from the late thirteenth century and it's still well preserved.
To visit the Municipal palace with the Civic Tower Levant Gate (fifteenth century), the eighteenth-century Church of the Assumption and the Annunciation Church without aspe and with single nave: it's embellished with wooden altars of '700 and several cycles of frescoes of the XV cent. and XVI cent. by Alamanno, Vincenzo Pagani and Cola dell'Amatrice. During the summer there are numerous musical activities, film and theater, and you can also see the typical medieval historical re-enactment.
Cossignano still preserves old habits that we can found in the typical culinary products such as: beans with pork skin, grilled sausages, ham, roast pork, cod, polenta, stuffed "crepes", cooked wine, cheese and pears, "Taccu". Ascoli Piceno
Located a few kilometers from the Adriatic Sea and immersed in a green hilly landscape, Ascoli Piceno is surrounded by Sibillini Mountains and Laga Mountains. The city, rich in history and culture, has ancient origins and it was founded by Piceni. With its narrow and winding streets, its towers and characteristics doors, it still maintains at today the typical medieval aspect. People Square, as in centuries past, is a meeting place of people. Here stands the Palace of Capitani del Popolo (XIII-XVI cent.), where inside it has been found large Roman remains and medieval buildings. Here, during the first week of August, we have the famous carousel of "Quintana", originally Renaissance tournament in which riders try to win a Palio. On the square stands the Church of Saint Francis and the Loggia of Merchants dated 1513. Between the typical products we find the truffles, first to taste we recommend the lasagna and, of course, the most famous dish constituted by Ascoli olives stuffed with meat, breaded and fried. The Festingo is instead a Christmas cake made of dried figs, almonds and raisins. Between the wines D.O.C. we find the Piceno Red and Macerata White Hills.

- First Sunday of August: Procession of "Quintana"

The extensive municipality, which falls partly in the Superior Red Piceno, is characterized by intensive agricultural production.
