      Not Exactly "Luxury"

Left on 02/20/2012 for a stay in February 2012

This house is listed as a "Luxury Condo" but I really wouldn't rate it with that description. There were some nice features. The living room furniture was new, the downstairs basement room was comfy with a nice bar and tv. The garage was nice to have for storing skis and boards. The main issues were that the bathroom shower upstairs had no water pressure and the fan did not work. There were 8 people in our group and we all had to share the downstairs shower. The kitchen was functional, although dated, but it was well stocked with dishes, utensils and small appliances. I did not sleep in the beds, although I understand the second bedroom upstairs has a big dip in the middle of the mattress. the downstairs bedroom tends to stay cold, as the heat does not easily circulate to that room. The hot tub was used once while were were there. There were no chemicals to keep it clean and were told to" just use bleach" which we were not comfortable doing. I guess for the price it's comparable. I just disagree with it being labeled as a luxury condo. In my experience the term "luxury" is a whole different category than this condo.

      Family skiing vacation

Left on 01/03/2012 for a stay in December 2011

We stayed 2 weeks over Xmas, 2 adults, children 15, 12 and 10. Served well as a base for skiing alta, we took rideUTa ski buses every day (discounted bus+ski passes were waiting for us in the house when we arrived), stop is 5 mins walk. We rented skis and left them at the rental shop in alta. There is no bus stop opposite for the return journey but we asked and every day the driver dropped us at the East Bengal junction. Same buses do Snowbird, a bus going the other way does Solitude and Brighton, but I expect you will have to walk to the Swamp stop (another 150 yards or so further south).

Smith's is a decent supermarket 5 minutes walk away, open 6 a.m. to midnight 7 days, with whatever you need for food and drugs plus a RedBox DVD rental. Pharmacy closes at 9 p.m. Beer is available in Smith's but wine is only sold through limited outlets, we bought ours from the alta Lodge. Several bottle openers and corkscrews provided.

We took a taxi to and from airport and did not rent a car. One day we took bus and light rail into SLC downtown, but last bus back is around 4 pm so we took a cab home ($40 + tip).

House was warm throughout, both TVs have satellite and DVD players, hot tub outside holds about 8 and is maintained every morning so you can jump right in when you get home. Bbq on deck. Well stocked kitchen (includes coffee grinder). Furniture is comfy but basic, you are not going to worry about breaking a valuable piece of porcelain. Semi-detached so you need to keep fairly quiet in consideration of the neighbors. Large basement lounge with wet bar, in addition to ground floor lounge.

Good large capacity washer and dryer. The house was clean when we entered. No smoking inside, ash trays are on the deck. Garbage bins were magically conveyed to the curbside on garbage days and returned the next day.
