Description from the owner
Deep in the South of France, nestling in the foothills of the Pyrenees Maison de Vigne offers spectacular views over surrounding countryside by day, with the twinkling lights down in the valley to remind you of your elevated position by night. The accommodation is over 3 floors and has undergone recent renovation. The exposed beams, expert stone work and tasteful decor contribute to the charm and atmosphere of this village cottage.
The terrace, with views to Renne-le-Chateau and Coustaussa Castle on the other side of the valley, is equipped with a table, chairs and sun loungers. An ideal place for alfresco dining and to unwind after a...Read more

MelbourneWinter at Maison de Vigne
Left on 05/24/2010 for a stay in November 2009
I stayed at Maison de Vigne for 6 months from Sept'09 til Apr'10 so I was able to experience a full winter in this very cosy, comfortable and spacious house. The central heating worked brilliantly, and the thick solid walls kept the home comfy no matter what the temperature was outside.
The wood fire heater added lots of charm and atmosphere on cold snowy nights, during a time when we had record snowfalls!
Most of the time I was there as a single, but had many visitors come and stay, and they all invariably loved it. Great views from the bedrooms overlooking the valley and surrounding mountains added to the appeal.
The house is well equipped and has everything you need, including great books to read. I am sure anyone would find Maison de Vigne a delightful house in which to stay for a short or long visit ! -

Maryland, USAVery Nice Cottage :-)
Left on 05/24/2010 for a stay in May 2009
On a recent trip to So. France (May 2009) I stayed for a week at Le Maison
de Vigne.
I found the cottage to be exactly as advertised, something that is not always
true on the Internet. The interior is very attractive and the cottage is
remarkably large, including the well stocked kitchen. The location in the
small village of Montazels is very quiet, and is convenient to the whole of
the Cathar Country, including Carcassonne, Castelnaudary, the Canal du
Midi, and the Eastern Pyrenees.
You can see the hilltop village of Rennes le Chateau from the front door, a
very nice place to visit - I went up four times during the week just for the
view.
There are village markets in the area several times a week and two
"supermarches" a few minutes away for stocking up.
I enjoyed watering the flowers each morning as well as using the iPod dock
on the nice little stereo in the living room. The bed was very nice, and the
cottage was cool despite the lack of air conditioning. There was a fan
supplied for use when needed. There is a wood burning fireplace for the
colder seasons.
Be careful on the narrow road coming up to the cottage, but note that in a
week I never encountered anyone going the other way!
The local caretakers were very kind and helpful and spoke very good
English (logically enough considering that they were English :-) I believe
there are new caretakers since I was there, but I believe they are also
English.
In all, I recommend Le Maison de Vigne very highly.
(I'd give it 5 stars, but I never give 5 stars!)

SurreyAutumn break
Left on 05/24/2010 for a stay in October 2009
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this comfortable and pretty cottage. We
had wonderful weather and thought the area was absolutely stunning. We
tasted delicious wine and food locally and particularly enjoyed visiting the
vertiginous border fortresses of this area.
