ManchesterA relaxing getaway
Left on 03/09/2013 for a stay in November 2012
I stayed in all 3 cottages during my visit and can highly recommend any one of the properies available. They were all spacious, modern, clean and tidy with added homely touches. Beautiful and peaceful surroundings ideal for a relaxing getaway but only 15min drive to Cardiff plus reliable daytime bus service to Cardiff if fancy a city visit. The owner Rosie was extremely approachable, friendly and helpful with any queries and advice on the surrounding areas and activities on offer, going above and beyond to help in anyway, as also were the neighbouring locals, always happy to help. Animal friendly.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Duffryn Mawr Cottages (The Loft). Accomodation was very comfortable, great for family of 5. We were made to feel very welcome. Purpose of our stay was for a weekend for attending a wedding at the Vale Hotel, and the location of the cottage was ideal for this.
Very good value. -

Helston CornwallIdyllic half term break in a Pretty cottage in the Welsh country
Left on 02/27/2013 for a stay in February 2013
My family and I recently had a wonderful spring half term holiday at Duffryn Mawr cottages. Our children are aged 6 and 3. From the first contact with Rosie, I was confident that we would be welcome - and we were. The cottages were easy to find - not too far from Cardiff and the motorway, the additional directions given by Rosie were clear and easy to follow. The cottages are converted farm outhouses on the site of the family farm, and are clean, warm, well furnished and very comfortable. Rosie and her family have ponies and dogs which delighted my children. On the day of arrival we settled in and then went off to the supermarket. Tesco's was easy to locate, and only about a 10 minute drive away. During the week we went to St Fagan's museum of Welsh life, cardiff Castle, Cardiff Natural History Museum, Techniquest science Museum, cardiff City (great for shopping!), Cardiff international Pool, as well as a few trips to the Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff which has Hollywood Bowl and the Imax cinema. After filling our days and Tiring our children the drive back from Cardiff to the cottages was about 20 minutes. It was quite cold at this time of year, but we were never short of things to do in the day, and the cottage was warm and cosy in the evenings. We all had a very enjoyable stay, and hope that one day we will return. I heartily recommend these cottage to all.

Left on 01/23/2013 for a stay in November 2012
Stayed in Rosie's holiday cottages at the beginning of November - brought my 2 dogs with me which was great as travelled over from Ireland to visit my friends. Rosie was great and really helpful and the fact that she didn't mind that I had friends visiting me while I was there was just fantastic!
Cottage was perfect for me and was really cosy. Plenty of room for me and my 2 monsters. Met some other guests too and they had nothing but praise also for Rosie and her amenities.
Location is great just off the M4 and the directions on Rosie's site are excellent as even I managed not to take a wrong turn. Location is great for taking long walks around the surrounding countryside - my 2 dogs loved it and seeing some Lama's for the first time made them quite intrigued.
Just a shot drive to Cardiff and Pontypridd. There is a Tesco just a 5 minute drive away and also some retail parks that have various stores like Peacock, Matalan, New Look, M & S to name but a few.
Couldn't fault it now I have to say and would definitely go back!!! -

LondonSeasonal warmth and a warm Welsh welcome
Left on 01/14/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Despite the unprecedented Biblical floods that heralded our arrival, Rosie our hostess made sure we could enjoy our Christmas break (we wanted to be close to our Welsh in-laws!)from the moment she took the trouble to drive out and guide us in, avoiding the treacherous waters. We were touched to see she had put a decorated Christmas tree in the window with a box of mince pies too! The pair of linked cottages we'd booked, one for us (and the dog!) and one for my mother and our twenty-something daughter, were comfortable and spacious and well-equipped and above all warm (the weather was not!)and cosy. And once the rain stopped and we could get out with the dog, we found the Welsh countryside especially glorious. Nearby Cowbridge boasts great shops and restaurants - and a brand new Waitrose supermarket! And it's a short drive to Cardiff. The one or two small points we brought up (like the need for an extra timed safety light in the hall outside one of the cottage front doors) were duly noted and I'm sure they will be sorted by now.

The cottage is located in a quiet rural setting a short drive from Cardiff. The home provided space for us to relax after a day of sightseeing. It felt private and was so much more welcoming than a hotel.

A lovely quiet position out in the country side but within easy reach of Cardiff and surrounding places to visit. Not far from M4 makes it very easy to visit supermarkets, retail outlets and numerous places to visit.
Rosie and Simon were pleasant, friendly owners. We stayed for over a month and loved the peace and quiet. Everything we needed was supplied within the cottage which made for a stress free holiday.
Would recommend friends and family if they were looking for a lovely spot in the country and would definately love to return here to stay in the future. -

Left on 11/04/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Self-catering at close to the best. Owners available if needed, but giving privacy if one doesn't. Bedrooms comfy, the bathroom too, but wardrobe space is minimal, so travel relatively light. Sitting Room (with open-plan kitchen) is small but offers all one may need. Neat to hear the sound of horses' hooves as the owner's family goes out to exericse their animals ... Location is excellent for access to Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan.

Left on 10/16/2012 for a stay in October 2012
A wonderful weekend break in lovely surroundings. Great facilities and very very comfortable accommodation. We had use of the family garden for our 2 little boys to run around in and a wonderful welcome from the entire family who were incredibly friendly and very helpful. We could not have enjoyed our stay more. We visited with another family so made use of two of the cottages which were very spacious and had everything we could have asked for and more. Really lovely family run accommodation, we would definitely visit again. There was nothing we did not like.

I have stayed at Duffryn Mawr cottages on a few occasions and at all times enjoyed my stay. Rosie is very helpfull and goes out of her way to cator for your every need. The views are excellent and the accomodation has verything you need and is very comfortable and clean.
The cottages are situated in close proximity of cardif and the small town of Cowbridge as well as many other places.
If you enjoy walking, cycling etc there is plenty of different routes you can take to get about and take in the local countryside.
The local pub is worth a visit.
I would reccomend this accomodation to anyone wanting to stay in this part of wales. -

We had a great stay in The Loft. Rosie met us on arrival and showed us everything we needed to know. There was a very useful 'guest guide' in The Loft which gave lots of information about the local area.
The accommodation was very comfortable, light and airy and cosy warm.
The cottage is located in a very quiet area but it is also within a 10 minute drive of lots of shops and restaurants.
Although the weather was very wet for the week the cottage gave us a great base to explore south wales and Cardiff. -

We hired a cottage for a four day family break so as to see Cardiff and South Wales and couldn't have wished for a better location for this. Close to the M4, its perfect for getting in and out of cardiff quickly and also to enjoy the wonderful Glamorgan countryside. Our hosts were very accomodating and accepting of our 3 children running around, and the kids particularly enjoyed the visit of the farrier to see to the horses of the owner. We would come back again

Left on 06/12/2012 for a stay in July 2011
The cottage itself is located in a gorgeous setting and the owners (well in proxy as Rosie wasn't there) was very helpful and friendly. It really is a lovely place, very private and accomodates basic needs. We had some issues with the electricity and they got right on it to fix it. The woman in charge also made some wonderful recommendations of places to visit. My only complaint would be the lack of internet that was advertised. We really counted on that connection and it wasn't available as stated.

Rosie was friendly and helpful and made us feel very much at home. The accommodation was compact but cosy. The double bed was very comfortable, but a little more cupboard/wardrobe space would have been useful. Car parking and turning facilities were good, and the level access was convenient. Despite the proximity to Cardiff and the M4, the location was quiet and secluded with very little passing traffic and well situated for visiting the coast and the valleys.

Royal Tunbridge WellsCan a country cottage really be convenient for a stag weekend in
Left on 02/28/2012 for a stay in February 2012
This was the question I was asking myself when a friend booked Duffryn Mawr Cottages for a stag weekend in Cardiff. I was also concerned that the standard of accommodation for a stag weekend would be the usual appalling hovel.
How wrong could I be?! First of all, a cab into Cardiff only cost £25 each way; which split between four was peanuts. Second of all, the accommodation was fantastic.
Set in the beautiful Welsh countryside the cottage is a converted out-building, which has be done to a very high standard. Impeccably clean and well furnished, we felt right at home. The bathroom is comparable to that of at least a four star hotel.
Most notable of all is the reception and service we received from the owners; who couldn't be more accommodating. Whether it was organising transport for us, recommending local restaurants, or inviting us to watch the rugby with them...nothing was too much trouble. We almost felt part of the family.
Throw in the horses stabled next to our cottage, the friendly family dogs and the sociable rabbit, we could have been in a Famous Five escapade.
Don't hesitate; book now.
Thanks Rosie and family for a lovely stay.
p.s. Try the local clay pigeon shooting. Rosie knows the gentlemen that run it. Superb fun.

Booked the Kingfisher cottage for a stag-do. Couldn't have hoped for better.
The cottage is clean and in very good condition.
Has all the amenities you would expect, gas hob, oven, fridge, washing machine, central heating and combi boiler hot water for shower.
The owner, Rosie, was brilliant. Very friendly and helpful. She even helped arrange one of the activities for the stag-do and she was very relaxed about having 6 blokes on a stag-do staying in the cottage.
The location is quite rural, so don't expect a 5 minute walk to the local amenities, however it is only a 15 minute drive through beautiful countryside to the nearest big town, Cowbridge, and a 30 minute drive to Cardiff city centre.
All in all we had a great stay and got everything we could have hoped for. I honestly can't find anything to complain about, so I'll just have to complain that it wasn't free :o)
I have no reservations in recommending Duffryn Mawr Cottages to anyone. Families and groups of friends alike. -

Our stay in The Loft was so comfortable, and what a lovely place it is too with great views of surrounding countryside Situated off the beaten track but not too much
although it was jolly cold outside we were kept nice and warm with the more than adequate CH.
Just a note for others - if you're going into Cardiff Bay on a Saturday or Sunday park in the park and ride car park for free! Cardiff Bay is less than a 5 minute walk away. Of course if you want to go into Cardiff itself then get the park and ride bus at £3 a car.
Hope to stay again in the future. -

A group of us chose this cottage for a cycling weekend. It was a lovely place to stay. It seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, yet it was only a few minutes from the M4 and major shops. The views of the valley were spectacular, and the tranquility only interrupted by sheep, horses and birds.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay at a wonderful welsh country cottage. Our host Simon & Rosie did everything to make our stay as relaxed as possible including looking after our Labrador whilst we spent the evening in Cardiff. Our accommodation was delightful & peaceful & totally child friendly. Our 3 children enjoyed playing with the owners dogs & watching their horses being groomed & saddled. Set in the peace and tranquillity of the Vale of Glamorgan with beautiful views along country drives to the coast but still only a short journey to Cardiff with all a capitol city has to offer.
There are 3 choices of accommodation varying in size and layout.
The owners treat guests as friends and have been very helpful with recommendations on places to go and things to do and have also provided help in obtaining tickets for major events.
We have used all three of the accommodation units on offer at various times and have found them all clean and comfortable a home from home.
We highly recommend Duffryn Mawr as a place to stay.
