Cerca del Cielo, Unit 5A in the North tower of El Cantil, is located on the ocean side of Avenue Melgar between 13th and 15th Avenues, a 10 minute taxi ride from the Cozumel Airport or a few minute cab ride from the ferry pier if you're coming in from Cancun. We are a 5 minute walk south of the town of San Miguel where a myriad of local shops, restaurants, bars, dive shops, etc. await your exploration. Across the street are two supermarkets where you'll find everything you need to stock the bar, fill the fridge, enjoy the sunshine, and more. If you'd like to rent a car (vs walk or hail a cab) to experience some of the beaches on the east or southern parts of the island, the concierge can be of help. Not to worry about parking as there are underground spaces at El Cantil.

From the moment we entered, this condo was warm, welcoming and immaculate. The online pictures are accurate, and yet there is still so much more. We were 8 adults,(4 being college students) and it was perfect!Not only was the living area spacious and comfortable, but each of the 4 bedrooms and baths were as well. There was plenty of room for all. Each room had a sliding glass door which was wonderful for natural light and fresh air, and all beds were extremely comfortable. The location is perfect. The views are incredible, the elevators private and convenient, and the town just a ½ block away along the waterfront. We enjoyed wandering off the main road and really exploring the heart of San Miguel including the town square and its evening activities...feeling totally safe at all times. Prima restaurant upstairs is magnificent and rivaled other places in quality, cost, ambiance and of course convenience. We took full advantage of the free breakfast offered and it often carried us through till dinner time. We also enjoyed Jennies down the street. Arrival information is provided and a representative from El Cantil will meet you at the airport. You can also walk off the airport property in order to secure a taxi. This proved invaluable since we made various trips back and forth as each of our party arrived. The airport is located a short distance away from this lodging, meaning we could spend as long as possible enjoying every moment of our vacation.
The owners could not have been nicer and easily available - answering any questions I had quickly and kindly. This helped in cementing our decision to stay in Unit 5an - Almost Heaven. Everyone in our party rates this lodging 5 of 5 stars, and hopefully we have the opportunity to return. A couple of fun activities were visiting Paradise Beach, and the Jeep tour of the island with a stop for chicken fajitas and Tequila tasting. The snorkeling right off the property is as good as any we encountered on the island.

What a fantastic vacation property! Our family of five had a wonderful time in this huge condo. Each of the four bedrooms are spacious, with very nice attached bathrooms. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need to cook, had we desired.
The free breakfast upstairs at the restaurant was something we all looked forward to every day. It is not a cheap continental breakfast - you get a full, yummy breakfast of your choice, including bread and cinnamon rolls freshly made every morning.
The pictures of the condo, while accurate, don't begin to show how beautiful the inside of the home is. It is so clean and nicely furnished, that we felt at home the second we walked in. Don't even bother bringing books or Dvd's, as the owner has kindly left so many great ones for you to use while you are there.
We enjoyed the entire property. The pool is just lovely, the Jacuzzi nice and warm, and it is so convenient for the divers to get picked up and dropped off on the boat dock right on the property. By the way, the experienced divers in our family thought this was one of the best dive vacations they have ever had!
The location of the condo is perfect. It is across the street from two great super-grocery stores, so you don't need to go far to stock up on all your needs. You can even bring the shopping cart right to your door from one of them! The condo is close to one of the two cruise ship ports, so you can spend your day and night watching cruise ships come and go. The shopping and restaurants are all within easy walking distance from the condo. You do not need to have a car to get to just about everything you want to do on the island. If you want to spend the day at one of the famous beaches on the island, just jump in a taxi and you'll be there in minutes.
I can't say enough about the owner, Jean Brill, along with the property managers, that worked with us to resolve any issues that we had. They were all delightful to work with. We recommend! -

This place is awesome! We did a family vacation here and just loved it. The rooms are all very large, each with their own bathrooms, and the view from the super large balcony is superb. Town is a very short walk, and with a large grocery store just across the street it's easy to keep stocked on the little essentials.
I highly recommend this unit to anyone. The owners are super nice and very accommodating. The staff on site are friendly and always willing to help.Response from Jean Brill - 01/21/2013

I've now stayed at Mike and Jean's condo twice, and am so spoiled I won't ever stay at another place again.
To start with, the condo is beautifully furnished, though not overdone, and therefore immediately feels like home. Inside, there's everything one might need to enjoy themselves, with a great selection of books, full internet access including a land-line with an 801 area code, and of course beautiful sunset views. Honestly my family spent most of our time on the huge back deck eating meals, reading, or sipping cocktails. The maid cleaned daily and did the laundry as well. We were always greeted by the doorman, and never worried about the safety of our belongings while we were away. Beware, it's such an enjoyable place, you will never want to leave...
The pool and lounge area are perfect with the infinity edge trailing off into the horizon. It's an ideal place to relax after a day on the water. Speaking of which: Jean was also kind enough to get a reduced rate for us at Deep Blue Dive Center, and hands-down it's the best on the Island. They pick you up right at the dock at El Cantil, and then it's off in one of their fast boats with no more than 8 people (usually 4 or 5) to get some world-class diving in! If you have the sense to stay at Mike and Jean's you probably don't want to dive with anyone other than Deep Blue!
When you're not diving, lounging poolside, or soaking up the scenery from the 5th floor, fear not: you happen to be in the perfect location to enjoy the rest of Cozumel. Sitting on the outskirts and easy walking distance of the touristic section of San Miguel; there's always something to do in that regard, but you're also across the street from the City Center and the Chedraui (a fantastic local grocery store). This means you can experience authentic Mexican culture and get a meal at a restaurant where nothing is in English, or just as easily dine where a maître d' attends to your every need. I'm convinced it really is the best condo on Cozumel!
