      A hidden gem!

Left on 04/01/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Myself and a friend stopped here whilst attending the Easter 1940s weekend at Crich Tramway Museum.
We made the reservation at very short notice and when we arrived on Saturday afternoon we were greeted by the owner Phillip, who took the time to show us around the apartment and explain how everything worked, a nice and much appreciated touch was the provision of basic provisions, such as milk, butter, bread, jam, breakfast cereals etc.
The accommodation was spotlessly clean and immaculate and the shower / bathroom needs special mention, the shower is larger than that normally found with a plentiful supply hot water with a really good flow, you get an invigorating shower which is a welcome change to that usually found in hotels etc.
Special mention should be made of the ease of access to the ground floor apartment, which would be a bonus to less able people with limited mobility, there are only a couple of low steps to negotiate.

Fantastic stay, everything had been thought of

Left on 03/03/2013 for a stay in March 2013

I arrived Friday night and had a lovely welcome into the accommodation. It was warm, inviting and full equipped so I could settle in with some food, a nice cup of fair trade tea and a decent television. The house is beautifully laid out in an open plan fashion, with a very generous sized bathroom, kitchen and living area. It really has everything you need- there is even a washing machine if you need to wash muddy walking gear. I woke up having had a fabulous and peaceful night's sleep (the flats are all soundproofed so I didn't hear a peep out of my friends, who were staying in the apartment upstairs, and there's no road noise) and looked at the fantastic views over the rolling Derbyshire hills, it was really quite a special outlook. In the area, there are so many lovely walks and pubs, and Helen and Phil were very helpful telling us where to eat and giving us suggestions of how to enjoy our weekend. Matlock is just a few minutes' drive away so it's a great location. Such a reasonable price for such high quality, brand new accommodation. Kitchen is incredibly well equipped and I really couldn't fault it.

Wow , what a beautiful property

Left on 10/01/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Lovely warm welcome from Helen the owner , she explained all we needed to know about the (downstairs) room , where to eat/drink , visit etc . Good informative visitors guide also in the room - local shops, restaurents, days out, etc The room is finished to a very high standard with high quality furnishings/utensils etc - kitchen/bathroom with everything you need - home from home . Few tasty buns and a pint of milk and fresh flowers on arrival, lovely gesture. We had booked this for just a chill out break and thats what we had - Philip the owner even popped in with a torch just in case we wanted to go out at night. Will definately return and recommend to others.

      Amazing amber Valley Views

Left on 07/14/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We had an absolutely fantastic time at Cliffside - when we booked we didn't realise how great the accommodation would be because the price was so cheap. The views were just gorgeous (see pics attached), we could see right over the hills of the amber Valley and it was really peaceful and quiet. The room was massive, very spacious and it had everything you could possibly need. Phil, the owner, was really welcoming and made us feel at home.

We were lucky with the weather too, so we got lots of walking in. We had a great day walking up to Riber Castle, we saw St John the Baptist's Church in Dethick (former Babington family church 1500's) and Florence Nightingale's house and the views from Riber were stunning. There was a great pub too just a few yards from the accommodation called the Cliff Inn which poured a good pint and the food wasn't bad either. The Tramway museum is just around the corner and shopping in Matlock was great, loads of boutique/curiosity/antique shops. Chatsworth house is nearby too and that is certainly worth a visit - expensive but worth it, especially the gardens.

We would definitely recommend this for a place to stay. It was so peaceful, beautiful and comfortable - we want to go back already!
