Failed Getaway
Cary, ncExpectations fell short
Left on 03/15/2013 for a stay in February 2013
There's a reason they don't show you a picture of the front! It's a 10' x 30' trailer clad in wood. Not that I have any problems with a trailer, but it does fall in the "cabin" category in my book. It may have been fine if we didn't feel like we had been deceived. Not what we expected.
Other issues; no TV (except shoping channels), no cell service, no wifi, can't make a long distance call on the house phone, no games, no DVD, no covered deck, no comfortable place to sit, but they did have plenty of mice.
Great place for a father son fishing trip, but that's the extent. -

We had a great time at The Hideaway. It was as expected a place to lay your head. It is in a good location to winery's and to a tubeing place right outside your door. The view of the New River was great. The only downside was the shower. It is tiny! Really tiny! So keep that in mind if you are tall like me. But definantly worht the $$$. Will stay there again.

Left on 01/21/2013 for a stay in April 2012
We rented a cabin for the month of april last year and it took a week for the electric fireplace and the outdoor hot tub to be fixed. This should of been done before we moved in.there was no comfortable chairs to sit in and the screen door had a big hole in it this should all be checked before the customer moves in

The electric fireplace was replaced during stay. We cannot control when mechanical items break. The hot tub has bee repaired.

Rocky Mount, NCThe perfect place for privacy and relaxation
Left on 12/12/2011 for a stay in November 2011
It was just the right place for my husband, myself and our two dogs to get away from our busy schedules. Very cozy! The hot tub, the view of the river and the location were exactly what we wanted. We would have liked the master bedroom to be larger and to have more TV channels, but other than that, it was great. We booked at the last minute and the lady at the rental office was very easy to talk with and most helpful.

LaGrange, NCNo satellite in living area
Left on 12/01/2011 for a stay in September 2011
The cabin itself was as expected but the web description of 'satellite tv' is misleading. Two tvs are clearly seen in the photos but we found out on arrival that the satellite is only connected to the tv in the bedroom and not the one in the living area. The description online needs to be changed to be more specific. Other than that everything was fine. Nice location. Peaceful. Hot tub was great. Cmp staff was polite and helpful in getting us a remote for the tv since there wasn't one in the cabin when we got there.

Since your stay satellite TV has been added to the living room. We certainly hope that you will stay with us again in the near future and we wish that we could have had the satellite installed prior to your stay.

Left on 04/05/2010 for a stay in December 2009
We really enjoyed out christmas vacation at The Hideaway. The Hot tub was wonderful for those cold days and nights and it was very relaxing to be able to sit in the hot tub and watch the river roll by. The size of the cabin was perfect for two people. The only thing I would recommend is a tv in the den and a dvd player. Also the comforter in the bedroom had pet hair on it. Other than that we loved our vacation and will return at some point.

PAStayed at the Hideaway
Left on 03/31/2010 for a stay in July 2009
The Hideaway was just that, a beautiful log cabin tucked in the woods with a great view of the river. It was the perfect place to rejuvenate, relax, and look at the stars. The cabin was very neat and clean, had all the amenities needed to be home away from home- plus a hot tub, and the customer service was outstanding. I would recommend the Hideaway to anyone that is looking for a nice relaxing getaway.

Raleigh NCAlmost what we were looking for
Left on 03/25/2010 for a stay in March 2010
We didn't stay at The Hideaway, we stayed at By the River.
Loved the house - complete with nice amenities and we appreciate the advice on being close to Hickory, which is one of the things we asked for. But we were also looking for privacy and By the River was not what we had in mind from a privacy standpoint. Our neighbors had a full view of all of our outside activities, as we did of them and we would have never agreed had we realized that the house was right on Hwy 16 - which stayed busy with traffic for our entire visit. It's too bad that a house this nice wouldn't have a more private location. Kudos to the owners for making the house so nice. Based on the comments from your rep, we thought we would have a private location, which was really not the case.
We've rented from you a number of times...this one just didn't go as well as our previous visits...but again - I can't say enough about the comfort of the house itself.
We are in love with this area and are planning to buy property in the West Jefferson/Lansing area. Our visits are part vacation and part research. We would appreciate more information on opportunities to purchase. We are looking for options for rental property until the point we are able to relocate. -

The cabin was nice and cozy. We thought it was right on the river but it is across the street from it. Overall a nice setting.
