Beautiful views, quiet and convenient
From the initial reservation to check-out, service was terrific. The property has everything you might need from beach chairs and towels to groceries. The proximity to town is also a big plus. Our condo was spotless and very comfortable. Excellent all around. We will definitely rent again!
Wonderful, but a little shabby.

Wonderful, but a little shabby.
We had a wonderful time, as usual, at Gallows Point. The view from our suite was beautiful, and we loved the visits from the birds on the balcony.
The suite itself could do with some updating, especially the upstairs bathroom and closet. The balcony furniture needs repairs.
One night, after midnight, we had very noisy neighbors, and the front desk was responsive to our request to ask them to keep it down. This helped a little, but we recommend a written policy of quiet after 10 p.m. for all suites.
We plan to return to Gallows Point.

Our Little Slice of Paradise
This is our 4th stay at Gallows Point, we just love it there. It is perfect for couples. We have traveled to many Caribbean and other islands, and St. John is "our" #1 spot. The location is perfect - an easy walk to town, but a terrific set up after driving to one of the great St. John Beaches in the morning for an afternoon swim/snorkel/sunbathe. Very relaxing with the pool, hot tub, various sun/shade decks and chaises, and the ramp that leads right to the sea. We actually experienced some terrific snorkeling just off Gallows Point this year - eels, a huge octopus, the resident non-threatening barracuda, hawksbill turtles, lots of colorful fish. The staff at Gallows and the Gallows Gift and Gourmet are very helpful for anything you need/want to do. It is also very close to the gas station and Starfish Market so grocery shopping is easy. Very nice to have breakfast in your condo every morning with a spectacular view. Unit 1D is our favorite. We will be back!
Excellent place to stay on St. John
This was our third stay at Gallows Point and highly recommend it! It is walking distance to Cruz Bay and has all the amenities you could want. The property is beautiful with a nice pool and beach access. Our unit was very clean and was stocked with everything you could possibly need. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We've stayed in a lot of homes on St. John but keep coming back to Galllow.
A great experience
Everything about our stay was at least as good as described, most much nicer. Everyone was polite and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone contemplating staying on St. John.
A very nice experience.
Beautiful grounds. Comfortable and well appointed unit. Excellent service. Perfect views of sunsets on the ocean. Second stay at Gallows. Would stay again. Both stays in upper units. You can't go wrong staying at Gallows.
From the moment we booked with Richard to our farewell, this was perfection!
After a week of sailing in the BVI, this was the most amazing resort to chill or be active. Stayed in 9a and 9c. Both units were beautiful overlooking the ocean and the pool. All staff at the resort are helpful and friendly. Close walk to downtown to many great beach bars and fine dining. Rented a jeep to explore the many beautiful beaches...Get awesome sandwiches from Sam & Jacks deli and head to Francis Bay and snorkel with the turtles! Drive over to Coral bay for a great burger at Skinny Legs! Return home to beautiful sunsets. Thanks again Richard for a wonderful vacation!
A beautiful warm and friendly place to stay.
My daughter and I were in St. John for the wedding of a friend. The location and accommodations were perfect for us. We were within walking distance of where all of the parties were.
We had a beautiful view from our room. The staff was always helpful and friendly.
My only recommendation for someone staying at Gallows Point would be to have them put some snacks in your room before you arrive or bring some things with you because when you get in really late after a day of traveling and not eating it would have been nice to have some fruit and crackers and a glass of wine.

Surprise & Disappointment
I went on line and got an 800 number to call. Little did I know that the number I had gotten on line was not for Gallows Point but for a rental agency that did not have access to all the units that were available. I wanted to rent directly from Gallows Point because I have stayed there on numerous occasions before because I was a resident and lived on the island and always received a "residents discount" whenever I had major work that had to be done on my house. I even had a post card from my last stay that invited me back and afforded me a discount. I had wanted a downstairs unit facing Cruz Bay because they were the least expensive and always available, especially in the off season. I was told that these units were not available. The gentleman I dealt with was super pleasant but not very forthcoming. Upon arrival, I found out that Gallows was only about 30 per cent booked, and there were numerous units available for the downstairs units facing Cruz Bay. (The least expensive) I also found out there was no restaurant, no bar, and unbelievable headaches for parking due to construction!? I spoke to some of the people I had known in the past and was told there was nothing they could do because I had rented through an agency. The last time I had stayed at Gallows at this time of year I was charged $120.00 per night, and that was with full amenities such as restaurant, bar, parking etc. This time I was charged $250.00 per night, and this was supposedly with a discount, and with no amenities! Gallows Point is not worth this kind of price, even in season, much less off season with no restaurant, bar, parking etc. The publics should be informed when they are not dealing with the resort directly, and should not be deceived the way I was!!! Response from Suite St. John - 11/03/2013
Dear Mr. Friendly (Not so friendly review)
Sorry you were disappointed but the facts, other than the restaurant closing were all on my site at www.gallowspoint.com. While trying to convince me to rent you a suite for $120/N, you were well aware that I was the single largest owner of suites at Gallows Point Resort, so your charge of being deceived is completely untrue. I am not only an owner but also a Board Member and In checking the facts, you have stayed at our resort 6 times dating back to 2004 when you paid $149/N for our cheapest suite (close to regular rate at the time) and most recently in 2010 at the rate of $422/N. During the booking process you seemed quite happy to have obtained a rate of 15% discount off the cheapest priced unit with a guarantee to be placed in the best available upon arrival. You were lucky enough to stay in an ocean upper premium worth twice the price charged. http://www.gallowspoint.com/suite1d/suite1d.html. As residents of St. John for many years we discussed how problematic renovations can be on St. John and I'm sure you were well aware that 80% of the restaurants are closed during Sept/Oct, either for a vacation or renovations. You knew exactly who I was...
Having last paid $422/N during your most recent stay, it's strange that you now say that Gallows Point is not worth the $225 charged by me. The fact that the bars, restaurants, tight parking etc. would not have differed had you booked directly through the Resort or an online booking agency. Your negative review has not been well received by me or the Resort.

Suite St. John at Gallows Point is excellent
Gallows point is an ideal vacation spot. We stayed in 15 D right on the water with amazing views of Cruz bay. The suite is clean and updated. The staff is friendly and helpful. Booked directly thru the website and good communication and information provided. Able to walk into downtown for dinners but rented a jeep to explore the beauty of the island. The pool and hot tub were very nice to soak in after a day of snorkeling. Would like to head back to St John soon and would stay here in a heartbeat. Visited Sept 18-22, 2013.
Loved this location and space
We just got back from a week's stay at the Gallows Point Resort. The suite was 9C and it was at a prime location on the property facing the bay. Every morning we woke up to a beautiful and inviting view of the water with the gentle splashes of the waves. Likewise every evening we retired for the evening sipping rum on the balcony as we watched the sun set. The unit was clean, well stocked kitchen and all new and well maintained appliances. This is resort is also at a great location and within walking distance to most restaurants and convenience stores and groceries.
Our stay at Gallows Point, St. John was perfect from beginning t
It was our first visit to St. John, and the villa at Suite St. John was everything you could possibly need and want. The gorgeous view, snorkeling beach, pool and outstanding landscaping and design is enough to make you never want to leave. Our housekeeper, Verona was very accommodating and enjoyable to talk to. Everyone at Gallows Point was so sweet and helpful. My daughter and I ate most of our meals in the villa, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We appreciated the complimentary Starbuck's coffee packets and creamers too. I even made a delicious smoothie with fresh island fruit using the blender and ice in the freezer.
The location was perfect to walk to town to shop, eat, and go to church on Sunday.
Our only disappointment was that we had to leave after one week.
The people working at Gallows Point Gift & Gourmet were great in helping us plan our activities. We can't wait to come back again.

Our stay at Gallows Point was perfect!! Can't wait to visit again! Beautiful resort and magnificent staff!!! Would recommend to everyone!!!
Relaxing with the most incredible view of the Caribbean!
There is nothing like waking up to a stunning view of the Caribbean right from the bedroom. Fabulous snorkeling right outside the door! The grounds and service at Gallows Point are outstanding. I have been visiting now for about a dozen years and hope to continue for many more.
Everything worked perfectly.
So many nice things to say. I even tipped the landscaper because he was so good at his job. Luxury!
Everything worked perfectly. The pots and pans were nicer than I can afford at home, every necessary utensil provided. Everything was clean. The staff were all polite and professional (barring one lady in the gift shop who we just avoided). When we go back we'll look into building 15, which looks to be the best, but our building (1 upper) had such a nice view I could've spent the afternoon reading on the balcony and not regretted it at all. This place is the best on the island.
Exceeded my expectations!
We own a timeshare at another resort on St. John, but wanted to extend our vacation, so we stayed at Gallows Point for a few days on the front end of our trip. Everything about the stay was fantastic - the hospitable service we received from the moment we arrived on the ferry dock, to the villa comforts and cleanliness, to the great location!
My only criticism was that the pool and pool area could use some repairs/updating. The views from the pool were amazing though.

Can't get any better
We love staying at Gallow's Point. It has a beautiful setting on the water including a pool that has a lovely view. The beach is fairly rocky but there is a handy dock that you can walk out on to get into the water. Then it's an easy swim out to the float or the snorkeling is excellent. The unit we prefer is well planned with a full kitchen, living room, dining area, bedroom and hugh walk in shower plus a small sunroom between the shower and the bedroom. Beach towels are plentiful and there's a cooler in the unit and beach chairs
can be picked up on your way out to the beaches. Cruz Bay is just a few minutes' walk and there are many great restaurants. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were just there for our sixth visit and will definitely be going back.
Wonderfully relaxing and exactly what I was hoping for our vacat
When looking at Gallows Point online I thought to myself that this place couldn't be that beautiful in person. Upon arrival, I saw that it was just as wonderful as the online pics and then some. Our villa was perfect and the views were priceless! The short walk to Cruz Bay was very convienent and just a 5 minute walk. All if the staff at Gallows were helpful and welcoming. My husband and I hope to return as soon as possible! We traveled the island and there is no other place I would rather stay.
We found Paradise
This was our first visit to St. John. We selected Gallows Point due to the overwhelming good reviews. They were right!! I dont care how nice any of the other properties claim to be. Gallows Point is the only place we will ever stay. Beautiful grounds, clean rooms, friendly staff (Anna was the greatest), and a million dollar view from our balcony 9C. It made our Honeymoon unforgetable
Had a fantastic time!
The unit was great. Beautiful view and spacious accommodations on lovely St. John. The unit was clean and had upgraded/modern appliances and amenities since the last time we were there. The bathroom in particular was beautifully renovated with stone tiles and new fixtures. Gallows is very well run and has a great store on property that provides many of the little things you might need. If not, Cruz Bay is right out the door and down the road. Very easy to rent equipment or arrange excursions and other activities right on property! Richard M was great to deal with to insure we had a firm reservation and everything waiting for our arrival. Highly recommended and we will certainly look forward to returning.
We enjoyed ourselves.
Beautiful location visually and convenient. Close to Cruz Bay. The noise from the bars carries very clearly with loud bands until 2am.We had a unit with a loft bedroom. Temp control poor. The loft area was very hot and the lower level very cold. Both sleeping areas were uncomfortable. St. John is such a lovely island that we did not let being sleep deprived bother us.When we arrived the kitchen was filthy. The resort was quiet in the mornings, had a nice place to grill out, and nice snorkeling off of the dock. Not a good value for what we paid to rent the unit. I will look for something quieter next time. Read more
Response from Suite St. John - 06/03/2013
Thanks for taking the time to comment on your most recent stay with us.
It is unfortunate that St. John does not have a noise ordinance that is enforced, however, it is what it is. Although we occasionally receive complaints of the noise many guests enjoy listening to the music from their balconies. Although each condo is privately owned, the Resort is operated by our Condo Association's Board and provides a Front Desk
to resolve complaints of our guests. I only wish you had sought a solution to the A/C imbalance and noise issue at the time rather than two months later. I could have arranged to move you to another loft suite much further from Cruz Bay and the noise and had our maintenance staff adjust the vents to the A/C, thus making for a more enjoyable stay. As an aside, there is virtually no place in Cruz Bay to totally escape the music. Suite St. John units at Gallows Point Resort still maintains a "Five star" rating and the Resort overall has been voted the #1 Hotel on St. John, rating above Caneel and the Westin.

Absolutely wonderful - one of the best weekends of my life!
Suite St. John, thank you, thank you. A couple of weeks ago we stayed at your exceptional units. There were eight of us who have known each other since college and this year we are all celebrating our 50 th birthdays. We had a lot of laughs and a few tears and picked up where we all left off since graduation. This is the first time we were all together since 1985! Your accommodations could not have been better. All the units were perfect, beautiful decor, well equipped and all had outstanding views. The service of SSJ is 2nd to none. The new owners of the little market were so patient and helpful with our group. Again, a huge thank you to Suite St John. Until next time...l
What a wonderful experience. We always stayed at Caneel Bay in the past but it was just too expensive. The views were amazing. The lush tropical grounds were extremely well maintained and set the scene for a relaxing, well needed tropical vacation. The Restaurant was best on the island! We did find the owners of the shop to be somewhat unfriendly. They offered sandwiches daily to take for day trips, but each day when we got there by 9:00am, the sandwiches were gone, and they were not willing to pre-order or hold sandwiches for us.
We loved the location as we could take a quick stroll in to town for dinner. We have found our new home away from home. Thank you Gallow's Pointe!
We've mostly stayed in nice resorts like Caneel, but wouldn't consider going back over Gallows. The extra space, the kitchen, the feeling of being in a home as opposed to a room, can't be beat. The 1.5 bathrooms meant we each had our own space. Being able to open all the doors and feel like we were in a luxurious lanai was awesome. We have already booked 12D for October. We preferred the harbor view because after sunset, there isn't much to see out in the ocean. We have rarely hung out by a pool in the islands but this one was so ideal because of the fabulous views, the accessibility of the ocean, and the fact that we were only a few steps from our room and its blender. I can't tell you how much we saved by mixing our own frozen drinks. The little store had everything we needed for breakfast and lunch. It was a much shorter walk to the Bay area than I thought it would be. It has one of the best onsite restaurants of any place we have ever stayed. I wish I could think of something that would have made it better, but I can't. We would buy one of these units if we could afford it and spend about three months out of the year there.
Beautiful place but harbor view- watch out for Cruz bay bar nois
Suite St. John was very easy to work with- loved Gallows Point. We have stayed many places in St. John and this resort is our favorite...absolutely breathtaking views from the pool and hot tub and very responsive service. Having said that...the villa we stayed in was harbor view..we were warned it was louder than the ocean view villas and boy they weren't kidding. The villa was extremely loud at night from the bars/ music events in town. One night the music was so loud it felt like the villa was shaking and it didn't stop until about 2am! We didn't notice the harbor noise from boats- just the bar sounds. Also- there are no shades in the villa and a skylight right above our bed making for very early mornings! No clue why someone would put a skylight right above a bed! It is a good thing everyone in my family are early risers but it would have been nice to get a little more sleep on vacation! All in all we definitely would stay at Gallows and use Suite St John again- but would totally upgrade to an ocean view room just because of the noise issue. Beautiful, beautiful property and island!
Gallows Point is the perfect place to stay while in St. John.
This was our second consecutive Spring break stay a Gallows Point. You can't beat the location and the views. The staff at Gallows Point is wonderful.
My husband and I stayed in Unit 9C in February 2013. We were a little skeptical because we usually stay in resort hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised. The kitchen was a wonderful feature which allowed us to save money for breakfast and lunch. We walked the five minute walk to town each night for dinner... the food was amazing at every restaurant we visited! We loved snorkelling right off the property, and we also enjoyed visiting the many beautiful beaches of St. John. We are hoping to return soon for a family vacation.
Beauty and Fun
Everything went exactly as planned - we called from St. Thomas to say which ferry we would be on and a Gallows Point van was waiting at the dock to take us to the condo. The condo was lovely, clean, comfortable and recently renovated. We had a first floor, condo (9a). Our friends had the 2nd floor condo above us. We like the spaciousness a condo provides as well as the ability to prepare breakfast or a snack. We also like that there is daily maid service and that coin-operated washers and driers are available. The condo location is perfect - an easy walk into town for restaurants and shopping. Since parking spaces are hard to find, the abillity to easily walk to restaurants was wonderful. The views from the condos are gorgeous, however folks should know that they are not located on a sandy beach. the beach is rocky - but there is wonderful snorkeling right in front of the condos. There is also plenty of deck space (both sun and shaded) so we did not miss having a sandy beach. The staff at the front desk was always helpful and friendly. We wish we had known that Zozo's, the restaurant located at the condo, is one of the most popular restaurants on the island and during the busy season you would be wise to make reservations before leaving home if you want to eat there before 9:00PM! However there were plenty of other great restaurants - Rhumb Lines (walk) and Chateau Bordeaux (car or taxi needed)were 2 of our favorites. Although this condo resort is not really meant for children, our friends had their children along and the kids loved being there - but they are very well behaved children. There are no elevators and probably would not be good for people with mobility issues as even the ground level condo has a few stairs from the kitchen/bedroom/bathroom level to the living room level.
Gallows Point St. John Usvi
This was our 11th trip to Gallows Point, so it's obvious we don't stay anywhere else on St. John. The units are recently updated, comfortable furniture, TVs, incredible view. A short walk to everything in Cruz Bay and some of the best snorkling on the island right out front. It's so good, I hate to tell everyone else about it.

Cannot wait to go back to Gallows Pt!
Gallows was everything I had hoped for. Quiet, serene, beautiful, and relaxing. My parents traveled there many years ago, and the friends that traveled with us on this trip had been there twice before, so I definitely had expectations. They were all met. Next time, I'll get an upper unit. We had a lower unit that was very nice, but the bedroom is in the back and doesn't get any ocean air at night.
Amazing view & excellent accomodations!
We enjoyed our stay at Suite St Johns at Gallows Point so much...8C has most beautiful view from our balcony and loved watching boats coming into the harbour. Resort is beautifully maintained...excellent staff. This is meant for adults...not geared for children. The loft bedroom makes it more comfortable for just a couple. (You might want to bring "sleep machine" for sleep as sometimes the nightlife at the harbour can be easily heard.) Gift Shop staff (especially David) most helpful arranging activities and dinner reservations.
The snorkeling off the beach was as good as anything we did around the island. The swim platform was lots of fun.
Loved the Spyglass Restaurant...best French toast for brunch and dinner entrees very good...and best harbour view!
Rented a Zodiac for the day to snorkel around the island (super fun) and ate wonderful lunch at Caneel Bay Plantation.
Decided not to rent jeep to tour island, but hired driver named Piper who gave us a fascinating island tour. (Very good decision...driving by ourselves would have been harrowing!)
First time we have been here and we will definitely be going back. The grounds are well manicured the restaurant is so good, relaxing, and great views, staff friendly. The units are pefect size, good feel, and also wonderful views. The best thing is walkable to Cruz Bay, we never rented a car. The store also has plenty of items on hand for food/drink. Also liked the fact when we would come back late at night someone asked us the unit we were in and they checked. Can't say enough great things.
Baton Rouge, LA
We had an incredible time during our trip to St. John!! Highly recommend staying here.
St. John Visit 2/1/13
We have been several times over the years. Gallows Pt. is an ideal location, very nice property. The updated units look great. Since we have been so often, I can knowledgeably say that the Only complaint is they are not keeping the floors clean.
Two weeks in Paradise
A great place to spend a few weeks escaping the cold temperatures of Pennsylvania. This is our third year at Suite St.John and we have already made reservations for 2014. The home is clean, bright and very comfortable and overlooks the beautiful Caribbean. The service and friendliness of the staff is exceptional. The resort is only a short walk to the restaurants and shops at Cruz Bay. What we like best is the location, the comfort of the resort, and the great weather.

Perfect location & sunsets
We stayed in unit 1D upper, it was only my husband & I so next visit we'll stay in a lower unit because less $$ and we didn't need all that space ( we were hardly ever in our room). This was our first visit to St.John, we'll be returning next year and will stay at Gallows again, it's a bit pricey but offers the perfect location, quiet, on beach but we walked to town every night for dinner (next year we'll probably go to the market and have a few dinners in because meals are expensive). We ate at the on site restaurant Zozo's one night, very good but you need a reservation. Make sure you rent a car or jeep well in advance, plenty of parking at Gallows which is good. Gallows also provided beach chairs & towels for our daily excursions to remote beaches for snorkeling; snorkeling at Gallows was also good. Even if $ were no object, I would stay here before going to Caneel Bay or Westin because its too far to walk in to town from those resorts for dinner. The Grande is a lower price alternative but the location isn' t as nice as Gallows and its a little too close to town. Also, during our visit, I didn't see any rentals with both easy beach access and walking distance to town so research carefully if you decide to rent.

We had an amazing stay at Gallows Point.
We plan to return again in October.
Our stay was very memorable. We met some
amazing people and we throughly enjoyed everyones
hospitality. This is what relaxing is all about.
The sun sets are well, Wow!
Balance between luxury and reasonable cost
Very nice rental. Not inexpensive, but tremendously convenient to Cruz Bay restaurants. We rented a Jeep so we could go to distant beaches, but you could easily enjoy walk in beaches and a dozen nice restaurants with no car rental at all. Really enjoyed coming back to the rental after a day of beaching and hiking and sliding into the pool and hot tub. Excellent kitchen and the price of your vacation goes way down if you take advantage of that for a few nights. Excellent concierge service a the gift shop. Zozo's restaurant was exceptional. We would do this trip the same way again.
The perfect place to stay in St. John
This is our 4th trip to St. John, our third staying at Gallows Point. The location is perfect - easy walk to downtown St. John to all the restaurants. Close to the Starfish market complex, gas station and ferries. And the property has its' own waterfront pool and sundecks - and a ladder right into the water with not bad snorkeling. The units are only one bedroom with a queen sleep sofa in the living room, but that keeps the parking and deck chairs available. (So not a family type of resort with young children running around). The Gallows Point Gift and Gourmet shop on the property is handy and the proprietors are very helpful making excursion arrangements, stocking provisions in your unit before your arrival, etc. We can't wait to go back next Christmas! The best deals are off season. Christmas week in the most expensive, but so worth it. A wonderful way to spend the holidays.
We thoroughly enjoy staying at Gallows Point through Suite St. John. It's a wonderful location with beautiful accommodations. It is actually as beautiful as the PR material and Richard is easy to work with. Read more

Thanks for taking the time to post your comments on Trip Advisor.
We look forward to your return.
Fantastic Property, Wonderful People, Beautiful Island!!
Our stay at Gallows Pt. was "top notch". The location was so convenient to town - the staff was friendly, helpful and informative. We stayed in the suites that were located "around the point" (furthest from the harbor). Noise was never an issue. The accomodations were beautiful; clean and inviting. Great pool on property. We had a wonderful patio, but also totally enjoyed the outdoor deck at waters edge. Loved the fact that we could walk in to town for dinner every evening. The restaurant on the property "ZoZos" is perhaps one of the best on the island. We were picked up at the ferry dock by the Gallows Point Driver and treated like "royalty" from that moment on - even furnishing umbrellas when needed. Would highly recommend this property!! Thanks Gallows Point for an absolutely wonderful vacation!!

A great place to stay
Our stay was perfect-very friendly staff-always there to make sure we were taken care of. Condo was clean and comfortable and housekeeping did an excellent job. We look forward to coming back next year-same time!!
Oklahoma City, OK
Our stay at Gallows Point was absolutly wonderful. It is close enough to walk to all of the attractions in town. The suite was immaculately clean and well stocked. We have rented many places in St. John but Gallows Point has been our favorite. It doesn't feel too much like a resort but you get to enjoy the resort amenities. It was great to have someone make the bed, clean and refresh the towels. When you rent a house that doesn't happen. The view was gorgeous. The staff were absolulty wonderful. They were always friendly and helpful. If you are sensitive to noise you might want to select a unit away from Cruz Bay. We heard the music from the Beach Bar and the noise from the ferry but it wasn't overly loud.
We stayed at Gallows Point for our honeymoon and it was simply amazing! It is very quiet, but still walking distance (5 min.) to Cruz Bay, restaurants, bars, and shopping. There is an awesome restaurant called Zo Zo's right in Gallows Point- this was by far our favorite place to eat. Everyone was very nice and accommodating at the resort, but they also stayed out of our hair and let us enjoy our trip! I would highly recommend staying here if you want a relaxing, quiet place that is still close to the action.

Wonderful and relaxing
As before, Gallows Point is exclusive and worth the additional cost (in fact they are not any more expensive then the other places I considered). The staff is over the top as is the location. Do rent a car since you can walk to town in 5 minutes. I wanted to stay at an all inclusive but made the last minute change and so pleased I did. I love to stay on the lower level since you can walk out on the grass and get to the pool or ocean as well. This is a must see, if you stay somewhere else, and surely you will set your plans for Gallows Point on your next trip. St. John is the place to stay over the other 2 islands as Gallows Point is the place you will not want to leave.
Suites St. John provides a high quality rental unit that is well
Gallows Point is a great place to stay!! The views are spectacular. We stayed in unit 8C. It was clean, well maintained and had very quality amenities in the kitchen. The cooler we found in the closet was a nice touch for all of our days spent at the beaches! This location is perfect for walking down the hill into Cruz Bay for dinner and drinks. There are other great places to stay on St. John but Gallows Point rivals them all for the convenience, views, accommodations and location. Can't wait to make a return trip. Booking with suites St. John was also an excellent experience. Richard is professional and put me at ease with ensuring our reservations were in perfect order.
St. John, Usvi is absolutely beautiful and Gallows Point was the
We were greeted by Gideon at the dock. He was friendly, helpful and attentive throughout the entire stay. The concierge was always helpful and obliging. The grounds were impeccable and the condo was absolutely beautiful! It was spacious, right next to the oceanside pool. There were beautiful flowers everywhere and the water was so blue. We had the pleasure of being ocassionally visited by this beautiful cat that wonders the grounds who is 17 years old named Max. He is friendly almost as if he belonged to us! A wonderfully unexpected surprise.
The only thing I would change is the restaurant menu. Not enough selection and its the only nearby "restaurant." There wasn't anything on the menu for my 12 year old son. Who by the way, loved the resort! He said to me, "I don't have to be sad about leaving. We are coming back next year." It is a place to definitely revisit.
Richard was very helpful and calming as I was concerned about the weather. However, the weather was perfect. I'm very proud of my choice.
I feel soft giving anything 5 stars. Surely you can improve something? Right? I took off one start for the restaurant menu.
This was an excellent experience!
Beautiful, very peaceful place!
The service was great. Anything that we needed was taken care of promptly. The suite was very clean and with all the conveniences needed to enjoy your vacation. The location is perfect with uninterrupted views of the beautiful ocean and Bbi's. Just a few minutes walk to Cruz Bay shopping and dining and the ferry. Snorkeling and swimming on site.
great right priced location to stay
It was more than we had expected. we were there with a wedding who stayed all over the island. everyone one we had the place place at the best price. Staff was great also thanks. would stay there again and recoment it!!

A Glimpse of paradise and luxury with location, location, locati
We were met with a smile even though we arrived before official check-in. No problem. They checked to make sure our condo was ready and then swiftly moved us in. All the amenities (air conditioning, ceiling fans, lock for safe, water supply, dishwasher, bottle of rum, beach chairs, towels, swimming pool, snorkeling and gift shop services) were explained and then we were left in peace to enjoy the spectacular view of the Cruz Bay Harbor and melodic sounds of the bay and beachfront. Our condo was cleaned every day with very polite and friendly staff(new towels, aveda toiletries, new bedding, dishes cleaned and put away and the floors cleaned). When we had any maintenance questions and concerns they were there instantly to take care of the problem (the fire alarm battery was beeping - needed the battery replaced and one of the window panes broke when the patio chair bumped it). Another best part was the location. A 2 minute walk into town with many dining/bar establishments, shops to explore, taxis, and the ferry to St. Thomas. In addition, there were trails that easily allowed you to get to Solamon beach, Honeymoon beach and Caneel Beach ... all great for swimming and fantastic snorkeling. If you prefer to not leave Gallow Point, no problem. They have a pool, great snorkeling and a delicious Restaurant (Zo-Zo), the upstairs bar has a fantastic view of the sunsets. Make sure you make reservations for the best seating. The perfect place to enjoy the relaxed life of St. John :)
Gallows Point was great again!
Best accomodations on St. John for small family or multiple parties. This was our second stay at Gallows Point in the last year and continue to love it. Most all rooms have now been renovated and the property provides privacy and wonerful ocean/habor views. Excellent snorkeling right off the shoreline. Walking distance to town and great restaurants. Zozo's, Cafe' Roma, Ocean Grill, and Fish Trap are all great! Staff are welcoming and very helpful with lot's of information about local excursions or transportation. Can't wait to go back.
We were floored!
I can't even begin to explain how amazing this place is! We stayed in room 8C. Stunning views. Gorgeous condo. Pool fantastic. Hot tub very very hot great for loosening up those tense city knots. The staff was always helpful and attentive. Grounds well maintained. Views amazing!!! I can't say enough about this place we both fell in love. Walking distance to town a huge plus for us! Taxi to the beaches wasn't as pricey as we thought. One night we could hear music from town but it was so much fun to listen to I can't complain. Waking up to the sounds of the waves and Island birds! My favorite place on earth!
This was our 2nd time in St. John and it won't be our last. And Gallows point will be our home away from home. Gideon picked us up from the ferry dock so warm and helpful. I was sad to leave. Cleaning staff lovely, concierge was spectacular. I hope they read this review because we've told all our friends about this place and their amazing attention to detail. Thank you!!!

I must complement and extend a great thank you to Dick Matheny for his help in moving us from 8C to 9a because of our major problem with the stairs of 8C. The 9a unit was exactly what we needed and was wonderful!
Siloam Springs, AR
1D was a fantastic suite with fabulous views and plenty of space
We stayed here for our honeymoon (Suite 1D). It was at the farthest end of the ocean view suite side of the resort, so it was very quiet and peaceful. It felt like we had all the privacy in the world, yet the layout of Gallows actually had us pretty close to the front desk. The entire Gallows Point Resort is pretty small, so it is easy to take advantage of their gas grills to make dinner, use the pool, or walk right off the end of the pier to go snorkeling. It really is an intimate place.
The staff is phenomenal and they are so friendly, courteous and helpful. We never once had a problem with housekeeping, maintenance or other managers. In fact, they went out of their way to make sure everything was being taken care of for us and our needs were being met.
I would highly suggest reserving a seat at the bar at ZoZo's (the restaurant on the property) for 6pm to watch the sunset. A beautiful view and fantastic food.
Anything you need, whether shopping, dining or groceries is just a short walk to town, so no need to rent a car or even use a taxi.
We used the gift shop at the resort to help us book a jeep for a day and a dinghy another day. They were also very friendly and helpful and they made reservations so easy that when we go back, I won't think about trying to do it any other way.
Overall, a fantastic experience and a great value for your money. This by far and away (for your money) is the best place to stay on St. John.
Best vacation ever!
My husband and I stayed at Suite St. John and Gallows Point for our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Our room was impeccable with gorgeous views and all the amenities could ask for. The resort is close to downtown Cruz Bay, allowing us to easily get out on the town. The market staff was helpful in booking excursions and providing insider tips about the island. I highly recommend staying here!
Great place to unwind and cool off after 7 days on a boat :)
We stayed at Gallows Point for our honeymoon and it was absolutly amazing. We loved everything about it, the security was awesome and we felt comfortable and safe 24/7. The staff was awesome and met all of our expectations. Everyone was so friendly and made us feel 100% welcome. The store on the grounds was very nice, and ran by a very friendly couple. I would absolutly stay here again, and i recommend to anyone who asks.
Gallows Point - 1D
In my opinion Gallows Point is a great place to stay while in St. John. The front desk, housekeeping staff and support staff are friendly and helpful. The unit location is fantastic. We had an issue with our faucet in the bathroom and it was fixed immediately. We loved the view of the water and what an easy walk into town for dinner. We absolutely love St. John and would recommend Gallows Point.

Wow! This is the place to be.
We've been comming to St. John for over 6 years and have stayed at the two major resorts, Maho Bay and rented homes, but Gallowes Point is the best. Ocean view and access within 100 ft, pool, small on site convience and gift store, restaurant, 8 minute walk to downtown, and best of all a great staff. The renovated rooms are spacious, high quality craftmenship along with well apointed appliances and kitchen cabinets. The unit was very clean and no critters. With the 2 double doors open to the west, the view of St Thomas and the sun sets, this was the most relaxing vacation we ever had. Love it.
Our Third Visit - It Keeps Getting Better
My wife and I recently returned from our third 10-day visit to Gallows Point. As per our previous visits, Richard Matheny of Suites St. John provided his usual personalized service and professionalism in arranging for our stay -this time in unit 1D. The Gallows staff was friendly, gracious and accomodating. The grounds remain immaculate and beautiful. My wife enjoyed her snorkeling experiences off the Gallows Point landing and we again appreciated how convenient this was. We never rent a car at STJ because there is so much to do within walking distance. During the week we taxi'd a few times to the Westin and a couple beaches. The couple who recently purchased the Gallows Gourmet and Concierge store (previously "everyting's) provided helpful advice and assistance in many areas. WiFi service was somewhat reliable (remember you're on island time here) for maintaning communications with our office. Because of changing airline routes and fares, travel time from the Midwest to STJ is usually a 10-hour adventure; so we decided to indulge ourselves this trip by arranging for private round-trip STT airport land taxi pickup and water taxi service to Cruz Bay and return via Dolphin Water Taxi services (STT). This turned out to be an excellent investment in convenience and transported us to Gallows Point in the shortest possible time once we landed. We'd definitely do this again. As many times as we've visited and taken a day trip on the public ferry over to STT, we've never previously visited Coral World in the Red Hook area. What a fascinating and educational venue this is - definitely worth a visit. Our favorite STJ restaurant - and we tried several new places this trip - continues to be The Fish Trap in Cruz Bay. Hiking the Lind Trail was excellent as always. Suite St. John premium suites and Gallows Point STJ remains our absolute favorite adult and couple oriented vacation destination.

Fabulous! Suite St. John is the very best!
My husband surprised me with a anniversary trip back to beautiful 8C at Gallows Point. It doesn't get any better! Richard and Jeff Matheny at Suite St. John were wonderful, as usual, and took care of everything. They even went out of their way to accommodate our request for this specific villa. The Suite St. John villas at Gallows Point are all updated and look fantastic. We stayed in the Oceanview Loft. Mr. Matheny was on site and gave me a tour of the updated lower suite. The updates are really something. I don't know if I'll request a Upper or Lower suite next time...either one will be fine with me-they are equally beautiful! If you plan to go to Gallows Point, book through Suite St. John. I've used them each time and I've been thrilled. You'll love it too.

I will defianately stay at Gallows Point whenever I come back to St. John. The suites were great.
A wonderful vacation give this place 5 stars. Already planning next Vaction there.

3C's: Casual, Comfortable, Convenient
Suite St. John is always easy to deal with and will go out of the way to place you in the unit of your choice. Since the island has so many beach choices, we don't care about Gallows Pointe. What we care about is friendly staff, ease of checking in, beautiful sunsets from our room, proximity to town (easy stroll), clean rooms, etc.
Best of Both Worlds
We stayed at Gallows Point on our week-long honeymoon. From the moment we entered Cruz Bay, we felt welcome. We were thrilled with our accommodations - the modern kitchen and breezy back deck were amazing perks. The landscaping on the Gallows property makes you feel like you're on your own island. We loved how close we were to the pool, whirlpool and floating dock in the bay. The best part about Gallows is that while it makes you feel secluded, it's actually conveniently located just a short walk from the town center. We did not need a car because everything was within walking distance or was a taxi ride away. Having checked out many other properties as we explored the island, Gallows is the only place we'd stay due to the beauty of the surroundings and the prime location. Thank you, Gallows owners and staff!

Another pleasant stay
We have stayed at Gallows numerous times and will continue. The view is excellent.

An absolute delight in every way. Stayed in 1D facing the sea.

We could not have had a better time.
The unit was perfect; great view, wonderful breezes, terrific location. The staff were very pleasant and helped in every way possible. Grounds at Gallows Point were well maintained and having the option to snorkel right on the property was a huge plus. Did not want to leave and would definitely go back.

It was wonderful
My only suggestion would be to update the TV.
We do not come here for TV but when something is on
like the weekend golf it would be better if the TV was HD
and a larger screen.
Other than that the renovations in 1D were outdtanding.
I stayed at Gallows Point for 4 days with my adult son and daughter and we had a blast. I wish I could afford to stay there in the future but my budget will not permit that. Time to save :)
We stayed in unit 12d which was renovated since the last time we were their. Nice job on the renovations, however this time the kitchen had minimal supplies, ie: no shot glasses or stirrers to mix drinks. No bathroom sprays. Towels were not as plentiful this time. Maid did not vacumme floor all week.
These are all small problems that did not take away from the overall pleasure of staying at Gallows Point. We have not found another place that offers the atmosphere and the amenities of Gallows Point.. We will definetly return.
Fantastic spot with the Caribbean at your back door and the sunset on the horizon. Nicely furnished, great big windows to let in the island air, including huge throw-open doors to the balcony. And a full kitchen gives you great flexibility to make some of your own meals and save a bit of money. Pool and hot tub aren't too shabby either, and you've got to love the seaside hammock and the floating dock for some nearby snorkeling. And just a 2-minute walk to town is a huge plus!
8B Gallows Point was wonderful!
Gallows Point, in general, is the best of both worlds...so close and convenient to town, and yet you can feel miles away while sitting up high on the property and looking out over the sea! This was our 2nd time staying at Gallows. This time we stayed in unit 8B.
8B is a ground level unit , with fabulous views. So nice to be able to walk right out to the pool or ocean deck with snacks and drinks for happy hour. 8B is nicely furnished and decorated, and the kitchen has everything you would need. 8B is a "classic" unit, which means it has not been upgraded with new appliances and tile work, but it was neat and clean and just fine! Esp since classic units are a little less expensive that the "premier" units. Service at Gallows is wonderful. All our needs were met. Beach chairs provided, beach towels and cooler, also. The little convenience store "Everyting" has everyting you forgot to bring from home, including breakfast items, ice cream, and rum! They will also set up any day trips or snorkel trips for you. We would definitely go back again to Gallows, and request 8B !
It would be nice if somehow Gallows could put in a small fitness room somewhere on the property.

Another vacation in Paradise
We have stayed at Gallows a number of times--always renting through Mr. Matheny. This time we invited our oldest son and his wife to go with us. We stayed in 1D and 9a. As usual all was ready for our arrival and the grounds were gorgeous. We had a wonderful, restive few days until Hurricane Earl hit on the day before our departure date. What an adventure. The staff moved us to a downstairs condo to more safely ride out the storm. The wind howled without let up all day and rain blew under the door but we never lost power, satellite tv, or even cell service. Amazing. The resort has its own generator we found out. The staff even braved the winds to bring towels down to put in front of the doors. We all emerged from our condos on Tuesday morning to a sunshiny day. We just couldn't get off the island. Our airline did reschedule--for Saturday. I e-mailed Mr. Matheny in a panic. Would he be able to accommodate us until then. As it turned out, he also rode out the storm on the island. He came by to see us and graciously made arrangements for us to stay on until our flight back to atlanta. We were able to do the activities that we had not previously had time for and to get almost too used to waking up in Paradise.
A great tropical vacation in a beautiful place.
Our stay at Gallows Bay Resort was wonderful. Beginning with the courteous and professional shuttle and check-in, to the ideal location for snorkeling, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful island. Our favorite aspect of the villa at Gallows Point was its great snorkeling right off of its own private beach. The staff was great. We enjoyed the on- site fine dining at ZoZo's. We're looking forward to returning again soon.
Cruz Bay Breezes
Gallows Point 12D is the perfect St. John's vacation for a couple. It is a very attractive unit with nice furnishings and appears to have recently been renovated with mahogany cabinetry in kitchen and bath. All the amenities needed are provided - kitchen supplies, cooler, beach towels. If you enjoy watching the world go by, the view of the Cruz Bay Harbor is terrific, and it is a short walk into town for restaurants and shopping. The Beach Bar was always our last stop on the way home! The pool/hot tub overlook the bay and are meticulously maintained as was the landscaping and grounds, and with very good snorkeling just minutes from your front door. We made good use of the gas grills with fresh fish from the Fish Trap market in town. Turn off the aC and open all the windows for bay breezes and a litte piece paradise.
Gallows Point in St John
Gallows Point 12D
We enjoyed the condo. It is spacious and the A/C really worked. They offer great beach chairs, have coolers, beach towels, ice maker & noodles in the room. It is an easy walk to town. Great since parking there is a nightmare and you do not want to drive to town. St John itself has the most beautiful turquoise water & beaches I have ever seen. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on food. Their food prices makes Hawaii seem cheap. Unfortunately, since all the food in imported, it is not that fresh. So,you pay a lot of money for just "ok" food. We rented a jeep but there were plenty of taxis. Not sure we really needed it. We enjoyed Caneel Bay. They charge $10 for parking but if you buy anything there that adds up to $10, it goes towards the parking. Food there was excellent. They have a lot of beach activity to watch. The Virgin Island Mango Pale Ale (brewed in Maine) was excellent. Do not eat at the Cinnamon Bay cantina. Shopping jewelry in St Thomas? Divide prices by 5.5 and you will get close to what you should pay. Enjoy your visit.
Sunsets and Pina Coladas!
We stayed in Unit 15D at Gallows Point which was just perfect! (Is there a better unit at Gallows Point?) Beautiful views, perfect proximity to the pool and a late night dip into the hot tub, and away from the hustle and bustle of the front desk/restaurant.
The amenities were great... loved being able to make our own pina coladas in the blends, and then stroll out (with our plastic cups)to watch the sunset with our drinks in hand. Does it get any better!
Can't wait to go back!
The rooms and grounds are very nice and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms were well equipped with everything you needed and they have spectacular views. It was great being just a 5 minute walk to town and being so private at the same time. An excellent place!

Return Guests to Suite St. John at Gallows Point
My wife and returned for our second visit to Suite S. John unit 8-C, an Ocean View Loft at Gallows Point. We were pleased with the renovations that were made to this suite since our previous visit in 2008 and equally delighted that the Caribbean charm, tropical quaintness, and intimacy of the unit was retained. The views from the balcony were again spectacular – just as we remembered from our first visit. The Gallows front desk personnel, housekeeping, groundskeepers were cordial and accommodating. The concierges at “Everytine’s” were helpful as always. We visited several beaches including the popular Trunk Bay. My wife actually preferred snorkeling at Gallows because she viewed more species of fish and enjoyed the fewer snorkelers then at the more congested beaches. I am a day hiker and each day I enjoyed experiencing the multiple trails in the national park. We ate at the popular and upscale Zozo’s (located at Gallows) twice during our stay and the food and service were excellent. The proximity of Gallows to downtown Cruz Bay allowed us to walk and enjoy many types of dining opportunities in and around the area. (The Fish Trap remains one of our favorites). Note: Gallows is located at the top of a fairly steep hill from downtown Cruz Bay. While Gallows resort maintains a courtesy shuttle service for visitors – most simply walk). For those who wish to spend time visiting other parts of the island might want to rent a car.
We would highly recommend Suite St. John as a slightly pricey but unique upscale destination – particularly for couples who are seeking the distinctive St. John island life experience. The typical guests we met at Gallows during our two stays appear to be active adults. The “Suite’s” rental agent, Richard Matheny is an attentive leasing agent who has professionally handled our reservations and related arrangements.
We intend to return to Love City!
just what we wanted
once again we had a great experience at gallows point. the only issue we had
was the air conditioning needed some repair but the service we got from the
staff at gallows point was prompt and efficient. we will clearly come back
One of my favorite places to stay on St. John
Always a pleasure staying at Gallows and renting from Suite St. John.
One recommendation I'd make however, is that the fabric on the furniture needs to be cleaned or replaced. It's quite faded and looks dingy.
