Hayle, CornwallOff peak family break
Left on 03/29/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We had a week at Maison Cruzy in mid March (with our 3 children), which was absolutely lovely. Despite it not being hot and sunny, we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the surrounding area and spent many hours just reading, watching Dvds and playing games...as well as taking full advantage of the culinary delights that the region has to offer.
The house is home from home and Paddy and Emer made every effort for it to be an utterly stress free stay, giving us loads of tips on places to eat and see. The house is extremely well equipped and the play barn was a huge it too.
We would love to return to the house and will recommend it to friends and family.
We had a lovely, chilled family break in preparation for returning to our usual hectic lives. Thank you!Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 04/03/2013

We're not long back from a glorious two weeks in Maison Cruzy. 10 of us in total (aged 7 - 77), really tested the capacity of the house - amazingly it didn't feel at all cramped, though you will of course have to plan a little as to who goes where. For all the chefs, the kitchen is very well equipped, ready for the wonderful produce of local markets. If there's anyone who can't survive without good wifi, you won't have to worry about withdrawal symptoms. We spent a lot of time enjoying the wonderful pool area, but the barn was a huge hit with the children (old and young), with so much to do there when the sun got a little too hot. The village itself is very quiet with a good bakery and butcher, but a car is essential. There's a lovely restaurant (Le Terminus) about 20 mins easy walk out of town. We thoroughly enjoyed our day trips to Roquebrun for river kayaking , mediterranean garden, and great family lunch (and views) at le Petit venice. Gorge d'Heric is definitely worth at least one visit (more if you've time). Minervois is stunning, St.Chinian market really good for picnic fare, Beziers has its own charm, Champs Blanc vineyard was sampled and approved of but no doubt there are many great ones, and some of us had a wonderful time horseriding near Bize Minervois (L'Appaloosa - lovely people) while others preferred bathing in the river there. Paddy and Emer were really helpful to us with information before we got there, and their man on the ground, Miles, could not have been more helpful and unobtrusive. The house has great old style Languedoc charm, with lots of original features. The inner courtyard table is a great family hub for happy nights watching the swallows/swifts with a nice glass. Treat yourself!

LancashireAbsolutely beautiful home from home!
Left on 07/12/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We stayed here for a week with 3 adults and 2 children aged 6&7, the house was fantastic for us. We were spoilt for choice with the number of bedrooms, and bathrooms, all delightfully presented and very clean. This is a stunning French property and you can't help but admire it when you stay here. The owners kindly leave it very well equipped, everything you need is at hand, the kitchen has a great big dining table and leads straight onto an enclosed courtyard with another large dining table, just perfect for evenings spent catering for yourselves. The pool is a great size for kids with plenty of space around it for them to play, and the barn are was wonderful, a safe area locked from the pool where again the owners kindly leave plenty of games and toys for use during your stay. Can't fault it at all!!!
Beaches we went to from here were Valras Plage and Serignan Plage, both lovely in June, I understand Valras Plage becomes rather busy in high season. We ate at La Sallette in Bize (on the main road back towards Carcassonne) and had a great meal, and Les Grand Buffets in Narbonne is well worth a visit for a fantastic all you can eat buffet! We went to Carcassonne on the one cloudy day we had and visited the castle, ramparts and medieval city, again well worth a trip.
Lovely house, made for a lovely holiday!Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 07/14/2012

Hi Anna, thank you for your kind review of our home. We are delighted that you found it a home from home as that is exactly what we are aiming for. The area is also full of many many treasures to see and do but it has taken us many years to discover them all and perhaps a more detailed printout of nearby villages and their activities would help our visitors. Another new addition to the area just outside Quarante on the road to Capestang is Chateau des Carrasses which has a great restaurant in a beautiful setting. Hopefully you will return soon to Maison Cruzy when we will be happy to accommodate you once more. Kind regards. Emer & Paddy.

TorontoTerrific accomodation for our family of 4
Left on 06/22/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Despite the unusually chilly weather, we had a wonderful family holiday at Maison Cruzy in May. The house met all of our needs very well in terms of comfort, location, space and style. All the basics were covered off beautifully: beds were comfortable, linens were lovely, rooms were spacious and bathrooms modern and well designed. The barn was a saving grace for our boys on rainy days. The village was interesting and no more than a 10 minute walk away are paths that crisscross gently rolling vineyards. We appreciated the architecture of the house and had memorable meals in the courtyard. When the warm weather arrived, the pool was terrific. The owner's assistant in the village was very helpful and we appreciated his efficient but warm welcome. We stayed for a week. Maison Cruzy would also be an excellent base for a longer holiday - there is so much to do. We easily travelled to Carcassone, l'Abbaye Fontfroide (beautiful, a good place for lunch), les Gaufres Cabrespine (very cool cave), Minerve and Narbonne. The countryside was gorgeous. So all in all, a great place to stay: style, comfort, space, traditional but sensitively restored architecture, loads of fun and learning for he kids, all without spending a fortune on accommodation.

Thanks Virginia for your very kind review notwithstanding that you were unfortunate to experience poor weather....great to see you all made the best of it and the boys enjoyed the games in the barn area. Look forward to seeing you all again. Paddy & Emer.

We were tipped of about this house by another couple who stayed there last Year. It is right in the center of everything, Surrounded by Vineyards and down the road from the canal du Midi and the lovely village of Saint Chienian. Narbonne is 25 minutes away as is the beaches. We fell in love with the beautiful courtyard where we dined every day under the Langeudoc Sky. Its a stargazers Paradise. Theres is a enclosed pool with plenty of chairs and loungers and is a fantastic for children. There is plenty of bikes if you wish to on a spin(highly recommended). The house is beautifully furnished and is very comfortable (it even had Satellite and WiFi !). Bakery,Pharmacy and convenience store are within walking distance. It ticked all the boxs. Book it!

Maison Cruzy is a home from home.We have holidayed here numerous times and Paddy and Emer ensure that all you want is catered for.It is a large ,beautiful and very comfortable house. It is lovely to stay in such a bright modern holiday home. The children adore the pool and the large play space in what was the old barn is fantastic for playing badminton etc when the day is too hot or at night. We love dining al fresco in the courtyard. If as an adult ,you would like to escape for a little peace and quiet you can always sneak up to the roof terrace,a little bit of heaven !The location is great, only a short drive from Carcassone and close to many interesting and beautiful places(Narbonne,St,Chinian and Roquebrun with it's lovely river.),See the true France. We love to stroll through vineyards and along the Canal Du Midi. There are plenty of nice restaurants nearby but our favourite is Bruno's ,just down the road. There is no doubt but you will have a fantastic holiday in Maison Cruzy.

The house has everthing we needed, from the private pool to the games area that the kids loved. What a holiday. We'll definitely be back..Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 01/08/2012

DublinAbsolutely 5 star self-catering accommodation
Left on 01/05/2012 for a stay in July 2011
From the moment you step through the front door of "Maison Cruzy" you are spoilt for choice and comfort and won't be disappointed on any level. Every room of this spacious house is beautifully decorated with every mod con provided (incl. wi-fi & air con). Anyone with kids will instantly recognise the "family" focus of both the house & location. Whether it's a relaxing holiday or more out-door activity holiday you are looking for, you can have both here. We really enjoyed eating "al fesco" in the beautiful courtyard whilst the boys played tennis in the "barn" or swam in the impressive pool. We had great pool-side bar-b-q parties, the pool area is a real great sun trap in the evenings. Cruzy provides lovely parks, local shops and vineyards on your doorstep but it'd be a shame to leave Cruzy without exploring the sourrounding areas of canals, resturants, local markets, forests, great cycling opportunities and there is a beautiful beach just a short drive away and for a shop-a-holic like me, Narbonne was heaven. There's also a 5 star spa resort a short drive away. So now you know adults are sorted, what about the kids - well they could not possibly complain, kids of all ages and interests will be spoilt for choice by the variety of activities, so much to do right on the doorstep and very importantly the cost won't break the piggy-bank. The only negative I can mention is that our time was up before we got to do all we planned, so were're heading back to Cruzy in 2012!!Response from Patrick & Emer Moran - 01/08/2012

Hi Bernie, Thank you so much for going to the effort of writing this very generous review. Great to see you all had a great time in Maison Cruzy and we look forward to hopefully your return in 2012. Best regards, Paddy and Emer.
