Baltimore, MarylandIt is a wonderful place to stay- for a very short time.
Left on 04/19/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Tree Nest is beautiful. The snorkeling was great. Very quiet and lovely setting. For a weekend or very short stay it would be okay because of the ambiance and the beautiful location. I went for a month and it was difficult. There is no kitchen. There is a hotplate, very small counter and under counter fridge. The two bar stools were too high to the counter so it was not comfortable to eat there. There is no comfortable place to sit for two people. There is one chair that is usable. The other is a straight backed wooden chair and the only place to put the large quilt from the bed. There is no screen in the door to the porch, so you can't leave that nice sized door open for air or light. There are table and chairs on the porch, but it is not screened in and there are mosquitos and no- see-ems. There is also no drinking water. The water is from a cistern and not for drinking. The bathroom is really cute and clean, but the shower cannot be adjusted to a comfortable temperature. It is either very cold or very hot. The bed was comfortable except there was no mattress pad and the sheet slid around on the slippery mattress material and I could feel the stitching of the pad through the sheet. There are about 15 cats that live at the property. I would have liked to know that before I went there.

The remoteness of Casa Yaboa could be an issue for some, but we enjoyed the peace and quiet. The Tree Nest was cozy and private from the other two rentals on the property. The owner, Jacinto, was very accommodating and kept the property in tip top shape.
As I stated earlier, Casa Yaboa is remote (~ 3 miles east of Dewey on Pr250) with a 0.5 mile dirt drive way (rent a jeep) off the main road. This could be a show stopper for some, but for those who want to get away from the crowds, this is the place. -

This was such a wonderful guest house that Jacinto has. We stayed in the smallest "Tree Nest" unit. Everything you'd want is right there in this little cabin... a main room with the comfortable bed and enough room to walk around, a small kitchen and bathroom separated by a half wall (not floor-to-ceiling). The deck attached to the bedroom was really great during the day and included several chairs and a table with umbrella. The view of the Bay was wonderful, especially in the mornings. The ceiling fans and the breeze from the bay were plenty to keep it cool and pleasant. We also loved the outdoor shower (it's screened in). All the pictures of the room are accurate.
The grounds were quite nice with many sitting areas to look out over the bay. There were snorkeling gear, coolers, kayaks, and lawn chairs that we were allowed to take with us to other beaches on the island. There are birds, small lizards, and hoards of hermit crabs around which were all nice to watch while having coffee in the morning. Jacinto was extremely nice and helpful from the initial e-mail through checkout... always making sure we had anything we needed. He also met us at the car rental facility and let us follow him back to the property.
It was about 15-20 minutes away from Dewey but after being dropped off at the ferry and seeing all the tourists and hearing stories of being woken up by roosters, we were extremely grateful for the distance... we were also admittedly looking to stay somewhere more out of the way.
Be prepared but to be bumped around in your rental jeep getting to the property... just go slowly. It's worth it! We would definitely come back and stay here again and would recommend this property to friends who want to visit Culebra. -

Casa Yaboa in Culebra was a perfect place to stay for our first visit to Puerto Rico. The location is simply amazing. You basically have your own private beach and the accommodations are great. We rented the smallest of the units, the Tree Next and couldn't have been happier. This particular unit has 2 decks an upper deck directly off the sleeping quarters and then a lower deck. We spent most of our time on the upper deck. The unit is small but has everything you need. The kitchen is compact but I managed to cook pasta, eggs and grilled cheese sandwiches. We utilized the grill for burgers and chicken. The fridge is small but we used the big fridge down in the common area for larger items. The bath room is small but functional. The best thing about this place is the location. It is like having a private beach. It is a rocky beach and may not be as pretty as the sand beaches of Zoni or Flamingo but you have everything you need right there. You can snorkel, there are kayaks available to use or you can just sit and enjoy a book.I put my kindle in a water proof case grabbed a couple of noodles and floated in the bay reading my book. You will need a car to get to the location the road to the house can be muddy if it rains I contacted Jacinto several times by email and he was always prompt when answering my emails and was very helpful. He met us at the airport when we arrived and we followed him to the house. He gave us directions to the grocery stores and also gave us advice on where to eat.Even though we cooked a lot we did manage to get out and eat a couple of times. I was so sad when we had to move on to the Big Island for the conclusion to our vacation. This property is a real hidden gem. It is the perfect place to get away relax and forget what every you left behind. We don't often visit the same place twice but this place could change my mind. Do bring bug spray, book your flight to the island in advance, and also make sure you rent your car in advance as well.

Prior to arriving in Culebra for our anniversary trip, I emailed Jacinto with a questions about the property and the island. He was always prompt and courteous with his replies and even offered to come pick us up at the Culebra airport when we arrived. After a harrowing flight from the continental us to the San Juan, we could not wait to get to Culebra! Unfortunately, we found that all the charter flights were booked solid for the day and we had to wait until the following day to fly out. Not only was Jacinto there to pick us up the next day as promised, he took us to rent a car from Jerry and was more than happy to let us extend our stay to make up for the day we'd lost due to flight issues.
When we drove up to Casa Yaboa, the tranquility, seclusion, and pristine blue water was more than we had hoped for! Jacinto gave us a tour of the property and let us know that everything was available to us from the beach chairs to the snorkeling gear. Unlike other places where we would've paid to use these amenities per day, Jacinto was more than happy to give us full access to the property and gear with no hassle! Although Jacinto was always available to us when we needed him, he made sure to give us privacy so that we truly felt like we had the place to ourselves.
The tree house, situated right above the bay with a breathtaking view of the water, gave us the feeling of seclusion and natural paradise that we wanted. The place was quaint and rustic, with just enough space to create a romantic hideaway for 2. A natural breeze from the ocean kept the place feeling cool as we drifted off each night to the sounds of waves crashing. The kitchen had all the utensils we needed to eat in or grill on the deck overlooking the water.
I cannot say enough good things about Casa Yaboa, Culebra, and our hosts. We were so happy to be in Culebra, a place in the Caribbean that is still pristine and not overrun by resorts, that we are planning to come back asap! -

Casa Yaboa is little slice of heaven. My partner and I celebrated our 10th anniversary here and Treenest is a perfect getaway for a couple. The cottage is gorgeous, full of air and light, and very efficiently set up. The property is beautiful and lush, and very well-maintained. The beach is steps away and offers amazing snorkeling, as it is bordered on both ends by coral reefs full of wildlife. While the beach itself is too rocky for lounging or playing, the owners have thoughtfully set up many seating areas just feet away from the water, allowing you to lounge comfortably in the sun and get lost in the view. They also provide kayaks, snorkel gear, and water shoes for their guests to use. We wanted for nothing during our stay.
Susie and Jacinto are kind and generous. They picked us up from the airport, took us to the grocery store, and made us feel as welcome as could be during our week with them. I would not hesitate to recommend Casa Yaboa for a quiet getaway. -

This magical lace is just perfect, Spectacular views, your own private beach perfect for snorkeling (although rocky for bathing) where we saw an awesome arrange of marine life since it is a protected area and no fishing is allowed within the premises, barracudas, stingrays and much much more just a few kicks off the shore. The only not so great thing I can say is that the barking dog gets in the way of the peaceful silence and the sound of the waves.
The hosts are wonderful people, very helpful and extremely friendly. They also own the Susie's restaurant, where Susie, the owner, is also the chef ( and may I add that she is a very good one too).
Overall this was the best vacation I've had in in my life, it was just the perfect romantic escapade that we will never forget but surely will love to repeat. Culebra is just the most easy going place, people are friendly and they just take it easy... We were actually sad we had to leave after almost a week of such peaceful surroundings. -

I have stayed in many vacation rentals all over the world. But this rental by far is the most 'sublime" of all of them. The owners Jacinto and Susie, tend to your every need and they have everything you could want in a carribean vacaction. Beach front ( which is rare here) kayaks , snorkeling gear.. anything you need. I cannot wait to book again in what I call a little slice of heaven !!!
