    Additional Location Information

Culebra Island is a very special quiet little island that is a throw back to the old-time Caribbean Islands before they were commericalized. Culebra Island is a place that has many repeat visitors but these visitors like to keep it their secret spot. So if you are reading this you have probably been here before or someone has broken the secret code of silence about our little jewel. The island is approx 8 X 4 miles with 2,100 full time residents. There are no malls, no golf courses, no night clubs and none of the many excesses of our society. There is little crime and the local population is enchanting, friendly and helpful. The little town referred to by the locals as "Pueblo" is about 3 by 3 blocks with some unique restaurants, small shops, a few churchs a small clinic that is opened 24 hrs a day, a post office and a ferry dock. Casa Pueblo, our rental hone is located on a quiet cul de sac street in this small village/town. From this location you can either rent a vehicle, bicycles, or use the public transportation. The island has maintained its quiet dignity because of the high quality zoning that was created when the Navy departed in the early 70's. Approx 60% of the island is still zoned 25 acres a house and much of it is five acres a house. The four main white sand beaches; Flamenco, Resaca, Brava, and Zoni are pristine each a mile long and are well preserved. Flamenco is the only beach with some limited commerical usage. Flameco and Zoni Beach you can drive to and park for free and Brava and Resaca are really great hike into beaches. There are also many other smaller beaches and waterfront areas that are private and secluded. Culebra offers excellent hiking, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, surfing, and fishing. The fishing for bonefish and tarpin is still a whispered secret. Culebra is probably most famous in written atricles for its pristine beaches especially Flamenco Beach which is one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean. Culebra is that special place to unwind and refresh your body and spirit. Please contact us when booking with any questions about transportation to Culebra and we are happy to share our 19 years of knowledge with you to help make your vacation one to remember.

      Best accommodations I've ever had

Left on 06/03/2013 for a stay in May 2013

I loved the location: central to everything, but in a quiet and private location, it was perfect for our honeymoon.

Jim picked us up from the airport promptly, and had left fresh mangoes for us. A previous guest had left some rum: we tried to reciprocate and left a bottle of wine and a few other goodies.

The house was clean, is regularly treated by a professional exterminator, and was open and spacious. The lap pool is nice after a day at the beach: just soak and relax in the evening.

The kayaks alone are worth a ton: nice, sea-worthy kayaks that would cost at least 40/day to rent in Culebra. They also had beach towels, bath towels, a hair dryer, soaps, sunscreens, etc: the place was really stocked!

We had minimal problems with mosquitoes, being up a bit from the ensenada, but the trade winds (and some citronella) kept them from hassling us even outside at night.

Jim was easy to reach, friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. I do not think you can get a better deal on Culebra, nor a more restful and peaceful vacation. We are already saving money for our next trip here.

"Welcoming, comfortable, tranquil, quiet and convenient"

Left on 12/22/2012 for a stay in June 2012

In recent years we have rented Casa Pueblo in three different occasions, staying as long as two weeks and always in early summer. (Our first rental from Culebra Island Realty was the Frangipani property at Zoni, beautiful)) .Beginning with our email inquiries exchanges all the way through our last day in the property, Jim has always been informative, formal, reliable and responsive in his service. Punctually meeting us at arrival early in the morning, offering a useful summary about the house (with a detailed written list of the do's and don'ts) ,efficiently dispatching rental transactions and remaining available to solve any unexpected situations are just samples of his attentive approach with us. We value Casa Pueblo's location in a dead end street (minimal traffic and noise!) and its close proximity to groceries stores, the fruit market, post office, bars, restaurants and ground/ water taxis. For a couple, the small house offers well appointed ammenities, including an attractive open terrace with a selective view of the bay, an outdoor table and chairs for breakfast and/or dinner, and a contiguous spotlessly clean lap pool to refresh after a long day of sun exposure at the beach or an intimate swim under the bright stars. In our last visit we noticed a few minor inconvenieces in need of revision such as several non-working jalousie window operators, a difficult shower water control valve (we recommend changing it for a single lever type easily found in any hardware store) , providing a good quality non-slippery rug for the shower area step and floor, under the sink kitchen cabinets require repairs, and it would be great if the lap pool light beam could be put to work again. Needless to say, I am certain that Jim will take care of these maintenance issues knowing how diligent and careful he is about his properties.
We have spend such relaxing, restful and invigorating times at Casa Pueblo that we keep dreaming all year long about our next 2, 3 or longer weeks in Culebra at this modest but friendly house where we can cook with joy, eat candlelight dinners at the terrace, enjoy viewing seagulls and sailboats during daytime, linger, read and sleep endlessly, row kayaks when the sun is rising, even go fishing at dock's end, wine glass in hand. This is a very nice vacation rental overlooked by zealous owners who will facilitate your stay to make sure you spend your well deserved vacation time with a maximum of enjoyment and minimal worries. We look forward to our next unwinding moment at our highly esteemed Casa Pueblo.

      Convenient location & great service

Left on 09/10/2012 for a stay in August 2012

I've stayed at Casa Pueblo several times and absolutely love it. Jim and Cheryl are a pleasure to work with.

Normally I prefer out of the way rentals but none were available several years ago so Jim suggested I try the downtown rental. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoy it. The street is quiet and the pool area is fabulous. I spent most of my time there relaxing in the steamer chairs or floating in the pool.

The wireless was spotty, as other reviewers have mentioned. There are three steps to traverse going into the bathroom and bedroom area. I managed just fine even after ankle surgery. The Casa is always very clean and feels like home. Kitchen is well appointed and appliances always work. Security deposits are returned promptly.

I'll most definitely be back. It's such a pleasant location that I didn't even use my car rental until day three. Walk to Susie's or El Eden for dinner. Sandwiches and the retail wine selection is always nice at El Eden. Both grocery stores are close by as well. Pan Deli is my usual breakfast stop. Zaco's Tacos is a speedy alternative for lunch.

      A great place to stay

Left on 08/05/2012 for a stay in July 2012

I would agree with the preceding reviews. Convenience wins over solitude. Being in the village also eliminates the need for a rental vehicle. The place is quiet enough considering most of the village is asleep by 11pm - and the pool is obviously a big plus. My one and only criticism would be the poor internet service, but I'm sure that will improve in time.

      Our Home away from Home

Left on 05/21/2012 for a stay in February 2012

We have been coming Culebra every year since 1990, staying at various locations on the island and for the last 13 years have rented from Cheryl and Jim. For seven years of those years we rented on the east end of Culebra not far from Zoni beach. We started renting Casa Pueblo six years ago and consider it our home away from home. Culebra is a wonderful place to get away from everything, especially winter. People that want quiet and solitude rent on the east end. People that want convenience rent near town. The solitude was great, but for us the convenience won out. Nothing in Culebra is more convenient than Casa Pueblo. It is a short walk to two grocery stores, seven or eight restaurants, the ferry dock and the town plaza. The house is great, has all the amenities that we need and provides a very private enclave in the middle of town. A good book, the deck lounge chairs and the lap pool make a good alternative to a day at the beach. Our favorite things: the roomy kitchen, the lap pool, the Frangipani tree and the view of the bay at dawn and sunset. What would we change: the noise from the Dingy Dock bar on Thursday Karaoke night. A good night to either go out on the town or use the air conditioner as white noise to sleep. Other nights are almost always very quiet.

      Wonderful experience. Great house

Left on 05/20/2012 for a stay in March 2012

My wife and I have been coming to Culebra for 8 years, the last 7 of which staying at Casa Pueblo. We love the house. The location is perfect. Within walking distance of great restaurants, gift shops, grocery stores and not to far from one of the best snorkling beaches on Culebra; Melones. If you are at the house during the right season, there are mangos, avocados and bananas in the yard. The lap pool is great after a day at the beach. If you want to eat-in the kitchen is well appointed with pots, pans, dishes, utinsels, gas stove and convection oven. The neighborhood is safe and the neighbors friendly. Jim is a great host, there when you need him, but if not you rarely see him. We would highly recommend Casa Pueblo for anyone that wants to experience the Culebra way of living.

Top Notch Rental With Fantastic Customer Service

Left on 05/19/2012 for a stay in January 2011

I have been traveling to Culebra for many years, returning each time to Casa Pueblo. The location of Casa Pueblo is literally steps from the grocery stores, restaurants and hot spots in town. Located on a quiet side street, this rental is a hidden treasure on Culebra. The comfortable furnishings, full kitchen and air conditioned master bedroom allow for great comfort while visiting Culebra. Now the best part - - The private built in swimming pool is such an excellent treat!!! The long, slender, deep pool will welcome you home after a full day of sun and fun!! There is nothing better than driving back to Casa Pueblo, walking out on the secluded, private patio and taking a cool plunge in this awesome pool!! The view of the harbor from the patio is a treat and a perfect place to have your morning coffee and watch the boats coming in. Casa Pueblo is complete with kayaks, boogie boards, a washing machine and just about every amenity you need to provide a wonderful vacation. As I am in the hospitality industry and hold extremely high standards, it is my pleasure to recommend this rental. Culebra Island Realty has always been an absolute joy to work with. I am looking forward to returning soon!!
