Description from the owner
Secluded and quiet, this beach style cottage is only 3 minutes(driving) from Zoni Beach, the finest beach on Culebra, and a 10 minute drive to town. Our fully equipped 2 bedroom (new queen beds in each bedroom) is a wonderful retreat from the hustle of typical resort settings or those noisy in-town rentals. Why share a house or an apartment when you can enjoy the privacy of a whole house (with open floor plan and high ceilings) on one acre to yourselves! Located in the exclusive Zoni Beach (eastern) side of the island, this house is surrounded by thousands of acres of virgin countryside and jeep road hiking trails, with an ocean view fr...Read more

NCCountry Retreat says it all!

This cottage was wonderful. I originally booked it with a smaller group in mind, but a few friends added on at the last minute. Our group ended up being 6, and the cottage advertises that it sleeps 7. While this is true, I would not recommend it! 2 couples would have been perfect, or 5 people max. To his credit, Mr. Lowell did try and talk me into the larger rental, which was booked by the time our friends decided to come. All that being said, the location is wonderful, the nearby beach, Playa Zoni, is probably the most gorgeous beach in the world, and the house is nearly immaculate. we adjusted to the space and had a wonderful time there. there is no dryer, but a clothesline is strung. take groceries with you out there!! also, do not expect to find fresh fish to cook on culebra. it does not exist! we still managed to eat extremely well, and enjoyed the BBQ grill on the patio. the house is supplied with water from tanks outside, which we did not realize until late in our stay. otherwise we would have been more conservative with the water. it is about a 15 minute drive to town on crazy narrow roads, but everything about this island is gorgeous- except the kiosks at playa flamenco. save your $ and dont bother! playa carlos rosario has amazing snorkelling, but it is a hike. take water and a lunch! sea turtles are at tamarindo beach. enjoy! my husband and i will be returning to culebra. it is very economical and amenities are cheap. the people are nice and smiling- which we found to be true all over puerto rico. senor soto was nice, and was available to answer our questions but not invade on our time at all. there are very few luxury amenities on the island- do not go there expecting spa treatments/massages/etc. if you are looking for beaches and sunshine without tourist traps, this is the place for you. there are many nice rentals on the island, but i believe this is the best for the $$. our trip could not have been much smoother. happy trails!

Owner
Thanks for the thoughtful review. I agree with our guest about the number of people that it easily sleeps, but for a large family with kids it still might be a pragmatically economical choice. There is plenty of water, the 1200 gal water storage tanks and pump is for emergency backup in case the metered pipeline to our house has an outage, which happens very infrequently. There is a fresh fish kiosk at Flamenco Beach but it is only open on weekends. Also a farmers vegetable and fruit market on Fridays near the airport. We have been fortunate to have wonderful guests that understand and appreciate the uniqueness of the Culebra experience! Thank you Cat!

This is a great place. We needed to find a nice quiet place to go and heal our bodies and minds. This Island and home fit the bill for us perfectly. LaCasita Tom left us wanting to stay. We even liked the local cat. There are few places that can match the beauty of Culebra in the whole world I suspect. Tom is a gracious owner, and his right hand man Victor is truly a match made in heaven. What worry might you have when a military man is right next door. When this guy picks you up the airport, he's on time. We hope to go back. We bought some local artwork from a great little studio called Butiki. Thanks to Evan we can look at the wall and long for our next departure. Thank you.

Tom-your vacation home was absolutely perfect! Quiet and peaceful with a constant wonderful breeze. It was very clean and we had everything we needed. Victor and Wanda are the best! If we had any questions or needed anything they were always there for us. We loved being so close to Zoni beach it was our favorite and we could walk there. The vehicle came in handy to explore the rest of the island. We had a great time and are planning our return trip.

It was great!!!! Too sad it was for a night, but we enjoyed it a lot. I wish I could have stayed longer... The house was clean, and very well equipped. The A/C, BBQ, DISH Satellite, WFI and the SUV were a PLUS!!! We went to Flamenco beach, and it was owsome!!!Dinner at Mamacitas was excellent... Definitely I will return.
Tom, thanks for the stay although it was for a night. Victor and wife, thanks for your kindness.

I can highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing carefree experience on a small Caribbean Island. The house had everything we needed, and was clean and thoughtfully designed. The manager lives next door and gave us the "inside scoop" on the island. We didn't need anything but it was comforting to know he was available if we did. The internet service there worked good. We loved Zoni Beach, quiet and untouched. We loved being away from the noise in town where we had stayed on an earlier trip. We didn't like that we had to end our trip so soon but we are looking forward to returning next year!
