AberdeenNot enough heating...this is a really cold house.
Left on 04/03/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We stayed there in March. It was a dissapointing start to our due to the central heating only being on at restricted times (7 hours a day at fixed times). The original decription stated that all central heating was inclusive, this clealy was not the case. I rang Mackays 2 or 3 times but again was disappointed that they didn't have the curtasy to return my call. After 2 - 3 days the landlady acknowledged that the mistake was Mackays and agreed to give us 12 hour central heating a day. If you ever decide to stay here, I would recommend double checking what is actually included for your weeks rental. Once the heating problem was sorted out we still found the house was quite cold. The plus points were that you were given a bag of coal and some logs which lasted a few days but after that you had to buy your own...again a little disappointing as I expected that this would all be inclusive. Once we had bought hot water bottles and more coal things were a little better but I do not think it was worth the money because of the inconvience caused by Mackays.

Manager
We are very sorry that your stay at this charming cottage was impacted by the incredibly cold weather we experienced in Scotland this March - in fact the coldest March since records began.
Normally the heating arrangements in place are more than adequate to provide a comfortable, warm stay but many properties had problems coping with such low temperatures.
I cannot find any record of your calls to the office but please accept my apologies if they went unanswered - we pride ourselves on our high standards of customer service so this is disappointing. I am pleased the owner extended the heating as required in such extreme cold conditions. On this point, it is standard practice for our owners to preset central heating systems otherwise they tend to be over used however there is no additional cost on the occasions when extended use is required as in your case. Again an initial supply of solid fuel is usually provided and then customers may decide whether to make use of any open fires. Apologies once again but I do hope this experience will not deter you from using our services again.
