Description from the owner
Our recently constructed two level one bedroom beachfront condominium is located on a beautiful bluff just steps away from the beach and blue calm waters. Due to natural topography of the beach and bluff, the water is very calm. Breathtaking views from the condo range from mountain views to the left, to lagoon views directly ahead and Caribbean ocean views to the right allowing both sunrise and sunsets to be seen from the condo deck. Because the beach is lit at night, the beach view can even be enjoyed after dark.
Relax, swim, dive, snorkel, hike or read a book while watching the blue Caribbean waters on the secluded West End Curacao. E...Read more

Toronto, CanadaGetaway to tropical paradise
Left on 03/17/2013 for a stay in March 2013
My wife and I stayed in this 2-story condo at the Lagun Ocean Resort over the March break week 2013. It's exactly as described by the owner: fully equipped, comfortable, clean and located 3-min away from the beach. Wi-Fi is included and generally worked well. Kitchen included dishes, flatware, etc - we mostly cooked our food at home - local supermarkets are well stocked.
You get a perfect view of the Playa Lagun and the ocean and there's a staircase directly to the beach. Sun beds can be rented for a few dollars a day. Beach is a little rocky - it's perfect for snorkelling and diving (lots of fish close to shore) but it's not a "typical" Caribbean beach for long walks.
Overall, I would highly recommend this unit for short or long-stay vacation for 2-3 people. -

Houston, TXGreat condo
Left on 11/19/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We recently spent 3 nights at this beautiful little condo, situated perfectly overlooking the cliffs of Lagun. The upper deck was the perfect spot to enjoy happy hour as we watched a consistently spectacular sunset. First floor opened onto our patio with resident iguanas, which we had a blast feeding each morning. Kitchen was adequately stocked for cooking, and the beds were plenty comfortable. Snorkeling from the shore was excellent, with turtles, eels, urchins, and loads of fish. Clean, modern and comfortable. Plenty of fun restaurants within a short drive from Lagun. Would readily stay there again, and Richard was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay a week longer!
Response from Richard L. Newton - 11/20/2012

Thanks Sherri. It is so nice when someone has a great time. Please come back when you can. There are many places to explore although we have to admit, Lagun is always best in our opinion. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Nieuw-Vennep, The NetherlandsBeautiful place, beach at your doorstep
Left on 09/10/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We stayed in this apartment at the Ocean Resort Lagoon for 1 week. We enjoyed it a lot, it had everything we needed. Must say, the towels and sheets were kind of used, but was no problem for the towels, as we brought our own.
We appreciated the screens on the windows, which made sure not to meet any mosquito or other bug in the apartment. Also, we enjoyed the Caribbean breeze all day&night.; It was just awesome.
Make sure to get some groceries from a supermarket (Centrum, or if you have the time and spirit, go to albert Heijn, for a better selection of goods).
We did not try the Thursday bbq which Peter, the manager organized at Bahia Inn, because arrived later that day, but I am sure it would have been a good experience. We ate a few times at the Bahia restaurant, which was ok.
Must mention, that at the Lagun beach, which is at the doorstep, we swam with turtles. It was very nice. Snorkeling is very good at that beach. We had a beautiful view on the underwater world. Of course the crabs are also in the sand. Had a little surprise when first discovered them, but then we got used to them.
We went to sleep very early and woke up before the sun, so we did enjoy some great views from the apartment.
I will not forget the iguanas either, they were everywhere on the resort. Also, the colorful birds. Just perfect.
We had some problem with the internet, as for the first 2 days it was not working, but who needs internet when you are in paradise?
Thanks for everything!Response from Richard L. Newton - 10/14/2012
Owner
Thanks for your review. You discovered the paradise we love. We would love to have you come back sometime so let us know. We agree with the idea of Internet outage (as well as TV). Usually the Internet is quite fast and dependable but sometimes it has problems.
Thanks again and welcome home.

PlantationPeaceful serenity with Caribbean breezes
Left on 06/23/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We had a wonderful stay in this condo. The property is well maintained and the condo is spotless. You overlook the turquoise waters of Playa Lagun. Birds, iguana and tropical fish are at your back door. The community around the property is friendly and the dining options are plentiful with a short drive or walk. Peter and Thea, the onsite managers are helpful and welcoming. There was only one hitch, we used the aC at night to sleep and we had a little trouble with it staying on. Also the screen in the upstairs bedroom was missing so you couldn't really leave the slider open because of bugs. A car is helpful for diving and dining excursions. We rented ours at the airport. Book it and enjoy!!!
Response from Richard L. Newton - 06/26/2012
Owner
Thanks Leslie. We are happy you had a good time. We believe in maintaining the amenties of the condo so we will look into the screen. We consider that very important. We will also look into the AC. Thanks for your comments.

Views from the back deck are simply amazing. The cove below, the sea to the right, and the mountains to the left. We watched the sun rise and set from the same deck on the same day. You can hear the waves crash all night long. It is very quiet and peaceful as you are away from everything. This could be a negative for some as there is not much in this part of the island. Only a couple places to eat (but later in the week as we ate at the dive shop below (discover diving) we found them to be good, esp when they get a fresh caught fish which was the best meal we had on the island). Most of the hotels, restaurants and shops are in town which is 25 miles and a good 45 minutes. So if you like to be near it all this is not for you. If you like to be in the least traveled area of the island this is for you. Snorkeling in the cove was excellent most days, very clear. We saw 3 turtles in one day. Great price for what you get. Grounds are well maintained. A car is a must, very surprised some tried it without a car. You will see so much more and a week of a car does not cost much more then a cab to and from the airport.

Fremont, OhioWhat a great view...what fantastic snorkeling just steps away!

We just returned from a 1-week stay at this cozy condo complex, located about a 45 minute drive from the Curacao airport. The unit is perfectly located to view the beach, the cliffs, crystal clear water, and sunsets. We had coffee on the lower porch in the mornings in the shade of a palm tree and watched the evening sky while cooling breezes added to the relaxing atmosphere. Several kinds of brightly colored birds and a few iguanas and other lizards were another pleasure to see from the porch each morning. Charcoal grills are available to guests, but cooking indoors without an oven is somewhat limiting. We did purchase a tuna one morning from the fishermen who clean their morning catch to the side of the beach and managed to fry it on the cooktop for lunch. Making soup the following day, however, proved a challenge because the unit does need a large pot or large dutch oven. The owner's suggestion to bring along our own beach towels paid off because they really are necessary. The regular bath towels provided would not have been adequate as only one bath towel per person is provided. A/C is installed on both floors, but because of two very efficient ceiling fans on the first floor, we never used a/C except upstairs at night for sleeping, though there is a ceiling fan on that floor also.
Everything looked exactly like the pictures, only so much better in person. We snorkeled and snorkeled and snorkeled and never got tired of the many varieties of tropical fish and colorful corals. Local children were on the beach daily with their swimming teacher and parents. All seemed happy and well-behaved. There were rocks and pieces of coral scattered along the shoreline, so beach shoes were helpful. Beach chairs and loungers were available on the beach for rent at about $5 per day. Sun shelters and a couple of palapas were also on the beach for everyone's use at no charge.
Next door at the Bahia Inn, we enjoyed their Thursday night BBQ around a huge table with most of the guests visiting from Holland. The music was a live trio who played guitars and the lead singer was terrific. The food was freshly grilled outdoors by the Bahia Inn staff who were friendly and entertaining. Fish, chicken, ribs, and burgers along with standard BBQ side dishes were delicious and plentiful. Good food, good music, good company...what a treat. -

Left on 08/12/2011 for a stay in May 2011
The location was rather remote, but we liked that about it. It was clean and had plenty of space for the 2 of us. Food was less than desired all over the island, so if you like to cook you may consider it. We were there too short of time to take advantage of having the kitchen. The heat and humidity were unbearable, inside and out. I can see why this is low season. If you are going, stay for at least 7 days, it's not worth the trip. The lagoon was wonderful and was our only reprieve to the heat...

Forest, VAComfortable Condo with a Breathtaking View!
Left on 05/06/2011 for a stay in April 2011
This recent trip was my first to Curacao and it was absolutely incredible. There's nothing quite like waking up every morning to the relaxing sound of the ocean, and that's what you get to enjoy every morning staying here. The sleeping arrangements are perfectly comfortable for four and kitchen/living areas are more than sufficient for every day living. In fact, that "every day living" is the best part of this condo's experience. True, there is no room service here as found in hotels, but staying in this condo allows you the freedom to truly experience all Curacao has to offer, from 1,230 feet above ground at the peak of Mount Christoffel or 125 feet underwater at the base of the lively coral reef, Curacao constantly surrounds you with breathtaking beauty and comfort, and this condo seems to be in the prime location for both. Looking out from the top deck, viewers can watch the crashing of waves into the Lagun walls or enjoy an incredible sunset, with a green flash if you're lucky! While staying here, I was certified in Open Water scuba diving at Bahia Diving (located right next door to these condos) and can state from personal experience that it is the place to do so. I had a blast throughout my certification and continued to partake in the beauty of Curacao diving for the rest of my week, traveling easily to 6-8 different beaches to dive, though Lagun was my favorite in terms of reef beauty and the diversity of wildlife. A car is handy, but not necessary, as delicious food is within walking distance, places to relax are within a stone's throw, and fantastic diving is merely down a flight of stairs. The view's from this condo look like they are from a dream, and it's location is perfect for a consistent cross-breeze while it avoids the beating sun in the hottest parts of the day. I will absolutely be staying in this condo again and would recommend it highly to anyone considering a true staying in this unbelievable island!

Had a wonderful stay from the time we opened the door! Plenty of space to unpack and a great view of Lagun Bay. As swimmers really enjoyed the two baths with showers, and upper and lower Patio's were perfect at Sunrise and Sunset. Didnt use the aC as the breezes blew through the unit constantly, and sound of the surf relaxed us at the end of the day.

Our recent trip to Playa Lagun was delightful. My husband and I were able to enjoy peaceful serenity, snorkeling adventures, and still maintain our business ties via the Internet. The property was beautifully maintained and management on-site was helpful and courteous. We love to cook and the kitchen was all that it claimed to be. We will always remember the basking Iguanas in the glorious Sunsets!

From the moment I walked though the sliding glass doors and looked out over the lagoon, I fell in love with this place! If you haven't been to the West part of the island, you missed the reason for going in the first place!
The view is breathtaking to say the least. This unit is beautiful, tastfully decorated, and perfect in every way, right down to the blender in the kitchen and plastic glasses for Pina Colada's at the pool! The breeze was always blowing and we didn't need the air conditioning. There was no way I was going to turn on the air and not be able to lie in bed and fall asleep listening to the tide coming in. I didn't miss a sunrise or a sunset!
The snorkeling at Lagun was awesome. . We snorkeled at Kalki, and went to Baka Tabla and Christoffel Park. We never turned on the tv or stereo. Most of all we just loved sitting on the balcony and taking in the view!
Richard was wonderful to deal with, giving us great infomation on places to eat and things to do so we were prepared when we got there. I would highly recommend staying at Lagoon Ocean Resort!

"Richard and Grace really have a gem there in Lagun. The views from the upstairs balcony and downstairs patio are breath-taking. You'll pinch yourself to make sure you are not dreaming! The location of the condo is perfect. The best restaurants are out on the West end, (most less than 10 minutes from the condo there at Lagun), such as Jaanchies, Sol Food, Landhuis Misje, and many more. Everyone there at the resort was friendly and helpful including Pete the property manager. Friendly Iguanas came out in the mornings to sunbathe on the stone wall near our back patio. It would be impossible to have a bad time at this magnificent place. I am so glad we decided to stay at Richard and Grace's rental instead of a hotel. There is just no comparison between the two. We can't wait to visit aging and are hoping to return in May. "
