What Past Guests Are Saying
A lovely house with the most amazing view day and night.
My family and I had a great weekend stay at Harbour Heights,we were all just blown away with the view! Watching the sunrise-wow!! So beautiful,we have spent time in Dartmouth during the summer but must say a winter stay is just as enjoyable! We were a group of all ages and we all felt so at home,we had everything we needed.Ann the owner made us feel very welcome and kept in touch on arrival and departure.Thankyou ann for your kindness for a memorable stay in your lovely home and can't wait to return:-)
Perfect accommodation in a stunning location.
The views from this property are breath-taking. Dartmouth is so pretty. Comfortable and stylish accommodation for our party of 12. The superb combination of stunning river views, comfort, parking and central convenience made our stay so enjoyable. This property exceeded my expectations. The weather was beautiful too which was an added bonus.
A fantastic house in a great location
We had never been to Dartmouth before and our expectations of the town were exceeded. Harbour Heights was a perfect location perched above the town with fantastic views across the harbour from the lounge and all the bedrooms. The house was very clean, spacious and well equipped and 10 of us had a very comfortable stay. The contact with the owner was very courteous, helpful and efficient. Thanks for a great stay.
Stunning views, good location, home from home.
We were a Hen party of 13 so the house was ideal with the number of bedrooms. It had all the kitchen equipment you would need so it was home from home. It was more than comfortable, dishwasher was a nice bonus! Ann is very nice & helpful, lots of suggestions on website for places to eat/drink & places to go, it was easy meeting for keys & was clean. Good location for exploring the South West.
The best thing by far is the stunning views, waking up & looking out over the harbour
We stayed at Harbour Heights for my sisters hen weekend in august and the cottage was perfect! From the moment we booked ann was very helpful, answered any questions promptly and gave some great suggestions for places to go and things to do. The cottage was perfect, nice and spacious, lovely décor with all the amenities you need.
There is quite a steep walk up to the cottage, but worth it when you see the amazing views...stunning! Would defintely recommend.

A whole new meaning to "Self-Catering"!
After a busy summer have only just got 'round to posting my review, but felt obliged given the wonderful service and attention from the owner ann. Nothing to add to previous comments re the views, except to say they are not overstated in the least. Only the two of us in a six bed house so not what you'd call 'economic' but to us it was worth every penny and we'd book a fortnight every year if we could afford it. Harbour Heights is my dream house, a real privilege to have stayed and we are sure to return.
Words Can't Describe
As a former teacher of English I consider myself to have a reasonable command of the language but when faced with the task of describing the view from this house I feel somewhat inadequate. Breathtaking, stunning, awe-inspiring, sensational - all of these fit but you actually need to experience it to appreciate its splendour. A tradesman who popped in to measure a pane of glass summed it up by saying, "You don't really need to go out, do you?". In fact, if you were to make one shopping trip at the beginning of your stay the house is equipped with everything you would ever want for a short break, and you could easily just sit on the balcony and drink it all in for the duration.
From start to finish the owner ensured that everything was stress free and our week was the most restful we have had for many years. Dartmouth with its plentiful restaurants and pubs and its many river trips has long been one of our favourite holiday destinations but to have somewhere so exotic to stay was just the icing on the cake. This was a week we will never forget. Even the dog, who spent hours surveying the scene from the balcony, didn't want to leave. Thank you ann - we do want to come back soon.
Fantastic house, fantastic place and a fantastic view
Harbour Heights does exactly what it says on the tin - a marvellous vantage point over Dartmouth, the river and the open sea.
The house is clean and well appointed with tasteful decor and comfortable seating and beds.
If the ascent to the house up Dartmouth's steep streets and roads seems daunting, don't be put off - it's well worth the effort!

While touring Devon and Dorset , we spent a couple of nights at Harbour Heights. Wow! The accommodation is first-class and the position overlooking the river estuary amazing. Beautiful weather was an added bonus and we could happily have spent our time sitting on the balcony just watching life on the river , the sun sparkling on the water. However, the little town of Dartmouth tempted us away and we were not disappointed - lovely teashops and restaurants, small individual shops, a world away from high street shopping malls. Ann was full of information on places of interest locally and further afield and our only complaint is that we did not have sufficient time to visit them all. Would thoroughly recommend ann as a most welcoming and helpful hostess, the accommodation, Dartmouth and the surrounding area. Thanks ann for making our holiday so memorable!
Fabulous short stay at Harbour Heights
The house was immaculate with a panoramic view of the Dart, it's estuary and the Royal Naval College from all the rooms, and balcony. All facilities were excellent and there was plenty of equipment in the kitchen. A short walk downhill took us to the town, where there are lovely restaurants. Overall a very comfortable stay.
Harbour Heights is a fabulous house with stunning views.
We have just spent a few days at Harbour Heights and were hugely impressed by the accommodation. On first approaching the property it appears to be fairly modest from the outside but on entering the upper lobby spacious expanses are revealed. There is a spotless and well equipped kitchen to the left and a large dining area from which a few steps lead down to a comfortable lounge. From here and even more so from the adjoining balcony the views are breath-taking. We had breakfasts and lunches al fresco overlooking the river estuary with boats chugging up and down on the sparkling water. To the left the majestic Royal Naval college sits in splendour and below the narrow winding streets and quaint houses hug the steep hillside. Most of the bedrooms, which are on three descending levels, enjoy this magnificent panorama. At night it is transformed into a magical world of twinkling lights which stretch up the opposite hillside and along the river estuary. Down in the town there is a wealth of individual shops, galleries, and some excellent restaurants. A walk along the waterfront will introduce you to a favourite pastime: crabbing. Old and young alike are there with their fishing nets and buckets. There are also boat rides and fishing trips on offer. It's a lively place, full of character and yet untainted by commercialisation.
Fantastic accommodation with stunning views of the harbour.
The house is truly superb!! With 8 adults and 6 children, the house was enjoyed by everyone. It had enough room for us all and even a smaller living area which served as the childrens dining and games area for colouring and consoles in the evening. The bedrooms are very spacious. The amenities are well provided.
The view of the harbour from the house was stunning and breath taking. Don't be put off by the very steep hill. The children were skipping all the way down and climbing back up, laughing all the way!
Ann was great in assisting and providing us with information about the local attractions, events etc prior to the stay. Once at the accomodation, we had no need to get in touch with ann as the house had everything we needed for the stay and more!
It was a shame our stay was too short but we are looking to return one day. A truely wonderful find! Thank you!
Perfect Stag Weekend
I booked Harbour Heights a few months before the stag weekend, looking for an amazing base to enjoy Dartmouth. From the reviews and the photos I knew the group wouldn't be disappointed. There haven't been many places I have stayed that exceeded my expectations, this is one of them. The house is amazing, very spacious, clean and the view is incredible. The kitchen is very well stocked, great sound system, tvs in rooms, its 5-stars all round.
Dartmouth itself is very nice but sleepy. But then, as we are all in our 30s (and the dad's came too), we weren't looking for clubs so it was ideal. And as Harbour Heights is such a great place we didn't mind coming back before midnight! The only negative (but at no fault to ann!) is the very steep hill coming up to the house. After a few drinks its a challenge! Tip; taxi!
I have to say ann is fantastic too; very informative and just wants to make your stay perfect. Everyone said during and after the weekend how much they loved the house, would defiantly stay again without hesitation.
Family get together with views!
Great accommodation for a large party, there were 14 (plus 1 dog!) of us ranging from 3-63. Had a great time with the house being perfectly placed to enjoy everything that Dartmouth and the surrounding area offers. The walk to and from Dartmouth resulted in sturdier legs than when we arrived due to the steep hill but I really wouldn't let that put you off.
Spectacular views, beautiful house.
We had a wonderful stay at Harbour Heights. Would highly recommend for families. We have two young children (2 yrs & 7 months) and our needs were catered for perfectly. Thank you ann!
Great relaxing week!
Great views, great house, great week!
Everything you need within walking distance, and so much in the house as well!
Brilliant value for the quality you get!
Walking up from the town was a great workout, but this is to be expected with such a great view!
The owner was extremely helpful.
Would recommend this for a quiet week/weekend away, but is suitable for a multitude of uses, from a romantic getaway to large family trip!
Perfect location, perfect property, perfect weather, Amazing!!
We rented Harbour Heights for my daughters hen weekend then my Husband and I enjoyed the house for the remainder of the week on our own. Everyone agreed that the property was ideal, views are unbeatable, always something going on to watch on the water. The house is very well equipped even for a large party. Having visited Dartmouth many times before we were fully aware of the position in Jawbones Hill and were prepared for the steep walk down to the town. Ann was very helpful throughout, even ensuring that we had amazing weather as requested! I would have no problem recommending this property.
Wow factor guaranteed
We have just come back from a fabulous weekend stay at Harbout Heights, and didnt want to leave! The house was absolutely stunning with plenty of bedrooms, large sitting and dining room space and a breath taking view, that no photo could do it justice. It is set in a picture perfect location, which I would recommend to any group, family or couple!
Ann, the house owner, was fantastic throughout with great advise on local activities, places to eat and things to see and do, which made our weekend run so smoothly! Highly recommended to all types of groups, not just for a civilized hen weekend!
Booked Harbour Heights at the last minute and, boy, did we strike gold! We were provided with lots of useful info before we'd even left, which saved me having to do the usual Trip advisor research. As there were just the two of us we had the top part of the house so if you are a couple or small group don't be put off by how big it is - I'm sure it would be great fun if there were lots of you but we enjoyed the space and yet it still felt really cosy, especially at night with the town lit up below us. We spent every available opportunity on the balcony, watching the world go by. From the myriad boats back and forth to the storm clouds rolling in - even the baby gulls nesting on the roof next door - there was oodles to see without having to go anywhere.
If you are going out and about though, South Milton Sands is dog friendly with a cracking beach cafe, fresh fish at the 'shack' at Beesands (or The Cricketers for a bit more comfort), walks at Slapton reserve or simply stroll to Dartmouth Castle for a coffee. Then there's Dittisham, the river trips, the steam train and heaps of other things to do.
Everything was clean, tidy and well presented but what we liked most was the lack of 'dog rules', especially in such a lovely house. So many times we have been put off by 'the dog must stay in the coal bunker' or something similar, so it was a refreshing change to be trusted as responsible dog owners and truly made to feel welcome. Thank you ann, hope to return at some point.
A lovely house with an amazing view!
We stayed here as a group of 15 for a hen do and were blown away by the view on arrival. The lounge/dining area was a great social space and the house easily slept 15. I would recommend Harbour Heights for any celebration.
The owners were very helpful not only in terms of the house but also things to do around Dartmouth.
The most fabulous place spent with the most fabulous friends. The views are amazing and the owner ann is sooo friendly, nothing was too much trouble.
Will definitely recommend this place and will definitely be going back.
Stunning views, special property and superb service!
I came across Harbour Heights whilst trying to find a property to accommodate 15 ladies for a weekend away (that happened to be 'Hen do'). I can not tell you how delighted and relieved I am that we chose this place - the owner, Ann, was more than helpful during the booking process and throughout our stay.
The property is truly special - phenomenal views (which actually made the Hen cry on arrival as she was so delighted with the whole place!) lots of space, well equipped and beautifully maintained. Everyone had a separate bed and all the linen was spotless.
We had a fabulous weekend and (apart from food and drink) we didn't need to spend much or venture far as the property had everything!
The only 'downside' I can possibly think of (in order not to make this sound completely one-sided!) is the walk up the steep hill from the centre of Dartmouth but a taxi is only a few pounds shared between four. So, to conclude - hugely recommended!
Epic location with a personal touch
Really enjoyed our stay for my friend's hen do. The view did not disappoint! The rooms were all lovely and clean. The personal touches were appreciated: a visit from the housekeeper and call from ann herself to check everything was ok.
I would love to return again. A lovely trip.
Great location, very amenable owner, lovely town
This house is fantastically positioned atop the hugely picturesque town of Dartmouth. It's a massive house over two floors, nearly all of which have views over the gorgeous harbour. The house can sleep a huge number of people (we used it for a stag-do) and is equipped with all mod cons.
Ann, the owner, was very amenable and I was delighted with the service we received.
Give it a whirl!

A breathtaking house that gives you everything your heart desire
I cannot recommend Harbour Heights enough! Ann and her team work really tirelessly to provide a wonderful place for you to enjoy the beautiful town of Dartmouth. We lead very busy lives, but as soon as we walked in we said "wow" and immediately relaxed..you can't fail to! The views were spectacular and we enjoyed eating our breakfast on a balcony overlooking the mouth of the river Dart. It was a wonderful way to start our day. The beds were so comfortable and the house is detached so feels very peaceful and quiet. We can't wait to return!!
Perfect house for our needs - we all had a wonderful weekend break! The owner was so helpful from booking to arriving right through to heading home again. And the housekeeper made everything clear as soon as we arrived. The house provided an amazing view over Dartmouth - definitely worth the climb up the hill! The location was perfect for us with a short walk to the centre of town. With 11 adults and a baby getting ready for a wedding, there was more than enough space for all! Would definitely go back!
Beautiful views and apartment
A group of 19 of us stayed at the property for my hen weekend. It is a beautiful property with stunning views. The owner obviously takes great pride in the house.
We did have beautiful weather which helped. Everything we needed was available at the property and the owner was really helpful in the run up to the weekend answering my questions and providing suggestions for the group activities.
I would definitely recommend if you are looking for someone stunning for a group to stay and enjoy Dartmouth.
Awesome views even in the rain!
We stayed at Harbour Heights for my sisters hen party weekend. The house was beautifully presented & well equipped with all we needed to create the perfect celebration weekend. iPod docking speakers, hairdryers, good showers with a plentiful supply of hot water! The weather was terrible, however this did not spoil the amazing view & the house is so spacious that 13 of us did not feel like a squeeze at all. Everyone was wowed by the balcony & it created the perfect back drop to our celebrations. The landlady was really helpful & pointed us in the right direction for all we needed. The Fortescue arms at East allington provided us with a catered dinner party & Cafe alfrescos was awesome for breakfast following our check out. Highly recommended.
Heaver stag do april 2013
I'd like to say this house is amazing and the views are just out of this world. We stayed at the house for a long weekend and when we arrived we were very impressed on how well presented the house was and how each room was just immaculate. i would recommend this house to anyone weather it be for a stag weeknd or just a bit of time away and of course Dartmouth and the surrounding area are gorgeous.
Beautiful house, beautiful setting!
12 of us stayed here over Easter weekend this year. What a lovely house, well equipped for groups of friends, families. Everything was catered for. The house was warm, cosy, and clean!! We needed for nothing. Ann was so helpful in advising on places to go and things to do. Would love to come back next year.
Tracy- bride to be!!
Harbour heights was an excellebt choice for my hen do in dartmouth!! There were 13 of us and we had so much space it was unbelievable!
The hill up to the house was a bit of a steep one, but once you arrived at the house, the view from the balcony was so very worth it.
Ann was always at the other end of the phone if I had any questions and when we arrived there was plenty of tea/coffee and some milk in the fridge.
I would highly recommend harbour heights as a great place to stay for a big party!!
Out of this world - we had a fabulous time!
Just returned from a wonderful weekend at Harbour Heights with 8 friends, to celebrate my 60th. Touch and go getting there, due to snow, but ann updated us as we went, which was useful, and Devon was clear. The house is lovely - lots of space for all, but cosy with it. The views from our bedrooms were amazing - ours even had its own heated 'conservatory',- lovely for cocktails. Sounds a bit 'posey' but at night the view reminded me of Hong Kong Harbour from The Peak, without the skyscrapers, of course - it is truly stunning. Well equipped - we needed to take very little (bath towels). The house was big enough for us all to have our own space - even when the 'boys' wanted to watch war films! Went walking over in Kingsweir, and had lunch at The Ship - very friendly. On the Sunday we chartered Dave and his boat Saltwind to take us up the Dart, then out to the mouth of the estuary, where we were thrilled to have a dolphin following us, leaping in the wake. Lunch at the Cherub was nice too. Is Dartmouth the friendliest town in the UK? - very possibly. Steep hill to the house, but we managed most times, though we did get a taxi back once (£2.50, but more on Sundays I think)
Wow! - Wonderful weekend at Harbour Heights
Harbour heights was the perfect getaway for us - 7 ladies, all needing a break from the day-to-day. The house was spacious, extremely comfortable, fully-equipped, and ann went out of her way to be helpful. One step onto the balcony followed by a deep breath of fresh air and drinking in the stunning views can't help but make the stresses of the week melt away. Also great value for money. Thank you ann!
Home from home
The views here are to die for,we had a 50th birthday here for a party of four and it was a really lovely stay also a lovely dog walk in the woods just behind the property, great customer service and great price all in all 5 stars
Beautiful views, perfect for a group getaway!
An amazing house with stunning views across Dartmouth and over to Kingswear. The house had plenty of space for our group and it was perfect for our needs - a place to stay to celebrate our 30th birthdays. Dogs and small children were well catered for and extras such as highchairs, stair gates, cot and baby monitor were much appreciated. Information provided by the owner, Ann, beforehand made our stay even easier. Easy to get into Dartmouth if you don't mind a steep walk back up to the house!
Brilliant house and superbly helpful owner
An amazing place for a gathering of friends.
View is simply stunning. The owners are extremely helpful and do their very best to ensure that you enjoy your time there. Thanks you
