      Cute & Comfortable

Left on 10/13/2012 for a stay in October 2012

The Backyard B&B; was immaculate when we entered. It is also off any of the main drags, so it is very quiet. The owner, Donna, prefers to allow you to make your own breakfast at the time you want, so she just provides the raw ingredients. This was perfect for us, and perfect for anyone who spends the night time hours gambling in Deadwood. Deadwood, itself, is a gambling town and not much else. But, Mt. Rushmore, Spearfish, Hill City, Sturgis are within an hours drive. The B&B; is a one room, very cute and cozy place; it could use a wee bit more closet space. Plus, they allow dogs if you get the permission. I loved it.

      Even better than expected!

Left on 09/07/2012 for a stay in August 2012

My husband and I and our small bichon dog stayed here for 2 nights. The cottage is everything it says/shows it is and more. Donna (the owner) welcomed us upon our arrival and made us feel right at home. We could not believe how she had stocked the kitchen/refrigerator for our breakfasts. It was amazing. Even though it is not a large space, it is so well planned that it feels a lot bigger than it looks/is. We were very comfortable there and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks, Donna (and Deadwood Connections' Joanna)!

We really enjoyed our stay at Backyard Cottage B&B.; The owners are wonderful, warm people who made us feel at home. The attention to detail is amazing and they have provided for needs we didn't even know we had! It's a small space but very livable...we will definitely return and recommend it to our friends! Ps - We certainly didn't go hungry!

      Awesome!

Left on 08/07/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Our stay at the cottage was wonderful. It was very clean and comfortable. The fridge was stocked with breakfast items which was great. It was a perfect place for peace and quiet away from downtown, but also a close walk. The host was very friendly. Will definitely stay there again.

Simply charming with all the accomodations of home

Left on 07/21/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Our trip to the hills was made complete with this amazing little retreat to come home to! The owner has thought of everything - breakfast items, snacks, soaps, laundry, iron and board, bedding, air conditioning, a grill...cottage was very clean and aesthetically charming.

Clean, comfortable cottage and great hospitality

Left on 07/15/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We had the pleasure of staying at the Backyard Cottage B&B; earlier this summer and thoroughly enjoyed it! The cottage is clean, comfortable and is a unique twist on a B&B;, with the kitchen stocked with snack and breakfast foods. Plus, it's a "pet-friendly" place to stay, which our small dog certainly appreciated! I would definitely stay here again when we're in the Deadwood area again!

      Excellent cottage

Left on 05/27/2011 for a stay in May 2011

I stayed for three nights in May 2011. The hosts were very welcoming and allowed me to check-in/checkout at my convenience. The cottage is very nice and you really can't get a better deal. I spent a good amount of time researching where to stay in the Black Hills, and I was very happy with my choice. The refrigerator and pantry were both stocked with food and beverages and all of the tourist info. for Deadwood and the Black Hills are included right in the room. There's even a washer/dryer, and detergent! Location is also excellent. I walked into Deadwood every day I stayed; the walk only takes 10 minutes and you can also walk up to the famous cemetery at the top of the hill--very worthwhile!

As for a criticism of the cottage, I suppose it would be icing on the cake to have a better movie library available--although the t.v. did have cable. Also, the t.v. was very small so a larger screen would be nice. You really can't go wrong staying here. All of the great things people have said about the cottage are true and I plan to return for a stay sometime in the fall!! Thanks so much for accommodating me!

      A cozy getaway cottage.

Left on 03/09/2011 for a stay in March 2011

Great value for the money. The cottage is very cozy with many extras( food and every day items that you may need, gas fireplace). Drawbacks are the bed could be more comfortable(fouton), a 12" tv, and the walk up the steep grade to get to it is a bit challenging. Overall it is a wonderful value for someone young enough to handle the walk to it. Would definitely stay there again. Jonna was very personable and checked on us a couple times to see how things were going. She made us feel comfortable. Thanks Jonna.
