    Additional Location Information

This small farm is nestled in a valley with a waterfowl refuge to the east and 200 acres of woods to the north. Horses, horsmanhip lessons, rabbits, chickens, and organic veggies. Located in the sunniest part of Orcas, in a very private location. YOu can walk to the Deer Harbor Dock, go whale watching or kayaking or hang out on the sandy beach. Great nature hikes right from the farm. Terriffic birding - especially when birds are migrating! Fun, Unique adventure

Left on 09/28/2011 for a stay in September 2011

While looking for a quick get-away with some horse riding lessons on the side, I discovered this great place and met some new friends. The yurt is what we used to call "dry camping" - no running water, electricity, or bathroom facilities. However, there is a very clean compost toilet close by that is well maintained and has a great view if you leave the door open just a little. Don’t let the term “dry camping” dissuade you. The yurt is clean, private, and very comfortable. There is a sink and water available inside. The hosts, Kate and Ken, are friendly and welcoming as is their dog, Cassie; cat, Theo; the chickens; rabbits; and mustangs. Each day Kate and I met up for private “horse / scared lady” education. I had a huge fear of horses that I wanted to master. With Kate’s gentle encouragement and her well trained horses I left with my fears relieved and excitement to continue learning all I can about Natural Horsemanship. This was an empowering four day mini-vacation in a beautiful location. Sightseeing around the island is a must, as is relaxing at the farm enjoying the quiet.
