With this Orcas Island accommodation you may actually want to prepare your own meals.Whethe...r you like to cook your own crab, barbeque your own salmon, steaks or like to cook hot dogs over the open fire you will like the west side of Maggie's outdoor cooking area and campfire pit. Perhaps you are preparing an anniversary dinner or hosting a small party or wedding reception or rehearsal dinner. There is enough room in our 400 square foot kitchen for many cooks and helpers.

With four sinks spread over three separate areas there is plenty room to prepare a festive gourmet meal. Serve on the east deck, the west yard picnic area, or the dining room all with spectacular water views.

Maggie's Manor sits high above our private 300' wide deep water Deer Harbor shoreline on 3 ½ acres with ample manicured lawns. Soak in the sun, clean air, and sweeping views from the bird-filled gardens. Keep toasty around the outdoor campfire while watching for Northern Lights under the star-filled sky at night. Deer Harbor on beautiful Orcas Island is located in the "Rain Shadow" area of the Great Pacific Northwest enjoying only 23 inches of rain and over 260 sunny days annually. Northern Puget Sound is home to just under 90 orca whales, countless seals, sea lions, otters, Dahl's porpoises, Minke whales, salmon, eagles, thus, fishing and whale-watching are very popular activities. Orcas Island has numerous parks including the 1500 acre Turtleback Mountain Preserve, and Deer Harbor's own community waterfront park. The 140 acre incomparable private preserve for guests at the Gnome House is considered a treasure by local, state and Federal environmental agencies and institutions.

  After staying at their magical Gnome House, I decided to introduce a group of friends to the beauty of the San Juan Islands, and Maggie's was the perfect venue! It is palatial in space and appointments, set next to the fabulous rustic quality of the Gnome House-- I prepared a full 5-course dinner in the full kitchen and dining room one night, and hosted a relaxed BBQ the next, while friends hopped in and out of the giant hottub, playing borad games, reading, and dozing in the homy living room... We actually had to force ourselves to leave the property to enjoy the rest of the Island! The hottub has an amazing view of Deer Harbor, and we spent so much time soaking in the water and the view that we almost forgot that we were not aquatic creatures by nature.
  The Connors are warm, generous, knowledgeable hosts, and their dog, Cedar, is a playful and watchful chaperone.
  The accomodations are comfortable and relaxed.
  The property is Gorgeous-- the Connors have spent the better part of 3 decades restoring it to its original state, and there is even a live salmon run nearby to the Mansion. You really feel like you are part of something special, and you take that something with you into the World, when you leave this place.
  We spent several days there, at Maggies, and leaving was the hardest part. We had an especially great time enjoying the Island, since we visited during their "Secret Season"-- the crush of tourists that Summer can bring was non-existent, so it felt like we were really getting to know the Island as it really is. Also the price for the Secret Season makes it an unbeatable bargain all the way around. You don't know the Pacific Northwest until you know the Connors! Thank you Connors!
