Cottage on Orcas Island Horse Farm

Our guests say: "This is paradise!" when they stay at the little red cottage on our horse farm. Located in sunny Deer Harbor in a very private valley on a quiet road, you can watch our mustangs play in the meadows below, or the deer muching apples from our 100 year old trees. Our snug cottage has an old fashioned feeling with wood floors, wainscoating, high ceilings, lots of sunshine and walls of windows. It also offers all the modern conveniences of high speed internet, washer/dryer and is warm and inviting.

We supply bikes for biking, apples off our trees and other local produce when in season.

This one bedroom cottage offers... a queeen sized bed with down comforter and 100% cotton linens. The fully equipped kitchen has a double sink, gas range, fridge, table for dining and large, comfortable chair for lounging and reading. Windows surround the living room offering views in three directions and let in lots of sunshine. Furnished with couch, chairs and TV with a DVD player. (Bring your own DVD's) The bathroom is compact with shower, sink and washer/dryer.

Adjacent to a Waterfowl Refuge for extrodinary bird watching, you may see owls, hawks, eagles, songbirds, migrating waterbirds, finches, swallows, herons right from the patio. The round brick patio surrounded by mature lavendar and flowers is a geat place for the evening barbeque and a glass of wine, while watching the sunset.

Walk to the nearby Deer Harbor Marina to the beach, or to go whale watching or kayaking at the Deer Harbor dock. Quiet roads for walking right out the door, and great hiking on nearby Turtleback Preserve.

In Deer Harbor you can dine watching the sun set at the Deer Harbor Inn. Eastsound offers a variety of eateries, some of our favorites are the Asian Kitchen for lunch, Ship Bay Oyster House or Chimayo's for dinner - both offer excellent seafood. At the far end of Orcas you can find the Doe Bay Cafe- run by a 5 star chef from NYC, or grab some crabcakes and blackberry pie at the Olga Cafe. Very private location on a small horse farm overlooking a waterfowl refuge. A beautiful quiet valley, acres of woods to the north, and 1.5 miles to the Beach and Dock in Deer Harbor where you can kayak, sail, go crabbing, grab a latte or some supplies. Hiking on Turtleback Preserve, quiet walks around the marsh right out the door, biking with bikes at the cottage, bird watching, horse watching, Natural Horsemanship Lessons with mustangs, Learn about Connecting with horses, Workshops/Retreats at the Farm. Private retreats available upon request. Healing with Energy work (Jin Shin)) and massage.
From Seattle you can reach us via car on Rt. 5 go North to Rt. 20 in Mt. Vernon, where you head West to Anacortes and the Ferry Terminial. Check the Wa. State Ferries for schedule on line. Or you can take a shuttle bus which is very conveninent and comfortable from Seatac to the Ferry. (Belair Airporter) Transportation via floatplane to Deer Harbor from Lake Union in Seattle, or small plane from Boing Field to Eastsound.
