Dallas, TexasFantastic vacation ever
Left on 08/23/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We stayed for 7 nights. That was still not enough. The condos is very clean and well kept.
Pros:
-lots of bath towels
-Great view from balcony
-Rooms are big
-great location in central Destin. Close to shops, activities/entertainments
-Gated to keep outsiders from invading the pools
-2 big pools and 2 hot tubs. The pools are much bigger than anyone in the neighbor.
-Plenty of parking spaces
Cons
-no free internet. Available with cost of $25/week/computer or $10 per day per computer
-over 12 y.o must wear bracelet to use the amenities. sometimes I forgot to wear and had to come back up to my room to get it.
-the elephant table hurts. May need to be replaced with something else.
Over all it was a fantastic experience. I would come back again and again.

Mason, MIThis unit has seen better days
Left on 03/10/2011 for a stay in January 2011
The unit 703W has some very nice kitchen wares although the frig is certainly challenged, the ice maker doesn't work properly & the veggie bin is broken. The furniture is really showing wear & the elephant coffee table is a real hazard. The good news is that it has a terrific master bdrm bed comfort wise (even if the spread is getting a little tatty).

Springfield, MissouriBest vacation value we know of! :)
Left on 10/22/2010 for a stay in October 2010
This was a wonderful experience for our family! Despite being notified "last minute" about construction in our tower
(that did eliminate our ability to use the pool- the heated one was drained and the other was absolutely ice-cold) which also presented some noise and minor inconveniences, we still had a great time in our condo and at the beach. We appreciated management discounting our rental fee to make up for the construction interference.
The only other disappointment was finding out when we arrived that we can no longer use the fitness center at Silver Shells just down the beach from SBT. My husband and sons have always enjoyed time together in the fitness center (especially when it rains!) So, we missed that little detail. We looked at a unit at Silver Shells to consider renting, but do not find the resort as a whole to be as convenient or comfortable in it's layout as SBT. This was our 7th year to vacation at Silver Beach Towers, and the first time to rent unit 703 West. We're grateful to have had the opportunity to stay in such a lovely condo, and hope that we might be able to return in the future. -

Baton Rouge, LAHomeowner association rules were extreme and unreasonable
Left on 10/16/2010 for a stay in September 2010
When we sailed our catamaran onto the beach in front of the resort we were threatened with eviction if it wasn't removed. Why? We never saw anything in our agreement that forbade having a sailboat. We rented the unit for 8 days and that usually means that you can use the beach. Then when we put the boat on the trailer in the parking lot, we were told it had to be removed from the parking lot. So we had to pay to have it parked at a marina for the rest of our stay.

Houston, TXA little slice of paradise
Left on 04/06/2010 for a stay in March 2010
The condo was very spacious and clean. It had all the comforts of home and the view from the balcony was gorgeous. It was perfectly located close to stores and restaurants. The WI-FI connection was weak and a recycling bin would have been nice to have.

Left on 12/02/2009 for a stay in November 2009
703W @ Silver Beach Towers is awesome! The decor, the view, the cleanliness and the amenities were fabulous. Our entire family enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The fishing was also outstanding, snapper, redfish (48 inches)and trout were everywhere at the jetty. Black Friday was even a pleasure due to the proximity to the stores and mild traffic. We will definitely use compass Resorts again. Our microwave 'died' and it was replaced within 2 hours of our call. Josie and the staff are assets to Compass. Thanks for making our 3-state family vacation a memorable one.

Slidell, LouisianaAnother great time in Destin
Left on 09/28/2009 for a stay in September 2009
The personnel at Compass were very courteous and helpful in making the reservation and at the local office after arrival.
We found the condo to be comfortable for three adult couples to share although we felt the furnishings were somewhat on the large size and did crowd things a bit. We had some trouble with the clothes dryer controlling the temperature settings and found the dishwasher to leak, I reported these items on departure.
We were very happy with the location on the seventh floor and the views from the unit.
We were also very happy with the layout of Silver Beach Towers and garage parking. One of the things we liked most was the elevator setup.
I noticed the persons setting up umbrellas and chairs at Emerald Towers and Sandestin cleaned away the sea weed whereas at Silver Beach Towers it was left to be waded through -

Monroe, NCA little piece of Heaven on earth!
Left on 07/22/2009 for a stay in July 2009
Destin is my favorite place to be. We've been coming for eight years and have stayed at Silver Beach 4 of those years. A great place to stay, furnishings are always beautiful, although the condo we had this year was a little smaller than what we are used to for a 3 BR, BR's were still great size but kitchen area a little small for 6 people. Still a great place to vacation and a great place to stay. Will be back!!
The only thing is see missing at this location would be a poolside cafe/bar!! -

Washington, DCGreat condo but Destin and Compass Resorts is NOT for us.
Left on 07/01/2009 for a stay in June 2009
The condo was beautiful and was spacious enough for 2 adult couples and 2 children to vacation comfortably. We would have been MORE comfy if the AC had cooled the place evenly.
The fridge did not work upon our arrival (we had food that had been in a cooler all day and fresh groceries we needed cooled!) There was no on-sight maintenance available with Compass Resorts. We got it working ourselves, eventually.
Compass resorts management is hard to reach by phone and is about 3-4 miles from the condo.
The condo has a gorgeous view. OVERCROWDED beach. Despite what you read--there are NO seashells. That was a big disappointment. Don't bring your own beach umbrella. You have to PAY to use "beach service." OR they will put one of their umbrellas in for free BEHIND the barricade of paid cabanas.
We heard more beer cans popping open than seagulls. In fact--there are more pigeons than seagulls! No shells? At least give me the squawk of seagulls!
The gulf was colder than what we're used to and the pools were too warm. We were repeatedly stung by what Google told us were moon jellyfish in the gulf.
The "strip" the condo is located on is an unsightly stretch of traffic-swamped road with shopping you must drive to.
We give a good plug to Merlin's Pizza across the road though! (Good luck crossing the traffic)
We finally found Harbor Walk Marina for some atmosphere. (Good luck with the traffic getting there.)
If Destin sounds like the place for you (it was obviously the place for MANY) then we recommend Silver Beach condo 703W! You can have it!
