My wife and I went there to celebrate our 20 yr anniversary. The condition of the place was great. It was very nice. The jacuzzi tub didn't work or I couldnt figure out how to get it to work. That is the only issue with any of the stay.
Hope to return again soon. -

Me and my wife had a wonderful time in Destin for our honeymoon. The room was just as it is described and the location was right on the beach with a beautiful view. The only thing that bothered me was the owner of the unit told the maintenance man to show the unit while we were there. I was out shopping while my wife was laying out on the balcony and they just came in. The owner needs to check the online booking and realize someone is there before letting anyone in the room! I was very upset about that. So the room and the place was excellent but beware of the owner of the unit giving someone the authority to come in and show the unit...

This is a fantastic location, right on the beach, beautiful views. The room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. Check in was easy, with no key required. However, hard to get in touch with any service personnel after hours. Wonderful location in Destin, reasonable distance from shop, stores, fun activities. Very laid back atmosphere...would stay again.

All was well with the exception of the check in. the code previously provided to enter the unit was incorrect and it took up to an hour to get this resolved.

We have been staying at Sterling Sands for the past 5 summers and have always booked through them. Decided to book 3rd party this time and was extremely pleased with Compass Resorts. Very friendly and helpful every time I called. Overall the unit was furnished nice but things are showing their age and wear. The worst part is how bad the carpet is stained and stretched out. The sleeper sofa mattress is so thin and bumpy that the kids slept on pallets instead. The sliding doors and balcony glass had handprints all over them but after calling the office they had someone up to clean them in 15 minutes. Kudos to them for that! Customer service is great! We love Sterling Sands and are pleased with Compass Resorts but wish the unit had newer carpet and the sleeper sofa had been usable. We will continue to stay at Sterling Sand and will use Compass Resorts again but would not stay in this unit.

Just stayed in room 702 Sterling Sands through Compass Resorts, and what a vacation we had!! First of all upon arrival we were given the wrong keyless code, the condo was filthy, our feet were black from walking barefoot on the floor, sand in the floor, mirrors with fingerprints on them, broken mirror in the kitchen ( which maintenance did come the next day and fixed with duct tape ), my son pulled out the sofa bed and food crumbs, a candy wrapper, and wadded up black tape was in the bed! Counters with smeared food. The patio furniture had turned black with mildew. I called and complained, an inspector was sent, the maintenance man was sent, and I was told manager would call. I called back 3 days later after no response from Liz Ross the manager, and as of today 7/11/2011 I have still not heard from her. Do not stay here. I spent my first night there cleaning what a vacation. again do not stay in this room. Or with compass resorts, customer satisfaction is non existent. I paid 2400.00 for 7 days at this condo, cleanliness, service, check-in, and value was terrible.

This rental was in a great location on the beach. The only problem with the location was it was there is not a red light near the exit. Thus, you had to go down and do a u-turn to get to the other side of the road which is not always easy to do! Check in was great and easy as we did not have to go to the office. Accommodations themselves were pretty clean with the exception of some bad dirty spots in the carpet. We did also notice a little mold on the air vent after I started having issues due to mold allergies. The master suite was also very humid during our entire stay. Our towels did not dry out! The full bed in the second bedroom sagged quite a bit, but family said it did not bother them to sleep on. With this said, overall we did enjoy our stay and furnishing in master and living room were nice. The mold issue did bother us some. Never been to Destin and come back with sinus problems.

The condo was very spacious and meet all of our needs. The pictures on the internet are exactly what the condo looks like! The view from the balcony was breathtaking. The weather was beautiful the 5 days we were there. We will always stay in Destin and at Sterling Sands!!

This condo was perfect! The view of the ocean from the living room & master bedroom was incredible! The condo was beautiful and spacious! It was quiet and very comfortable. We had everything we needed in the modern kitchen/dining area. The elevator in the complex made everything convenient. The pool area was great and just steps to the beach. The location was convenient to restaurants/shopping/etc. We had trouble getting the dishwasher to work & the jacuzzi jets to stop in the tub but a very friendly/concerned customer service person sent a very nice maintenance person immediately & the problem was remedied without any hassle. Not only would I love to stay there again, I really wish I owned the condo & lived there year round!! Wishful thinking on a social workers income!!

This unit needs some updating , the dishwasher is broken it only washes on 1 cycle and is so loud you have to leave the unit to run it.. The washing machine also is so loud you must leave , it sounds like they both are about to blow up. I prefer much more updated units , this unit needs some work and the wallpaper has to go !! Thanks

The unit has a wonderful view of the gulf, right on the beach. I liked not having to carry a key with the keyless entry to the door. Some of the furniture needs updated but still very nice. We will stay here again next year.

Great location, great views, bed was really comfy. Only complaints (and these didn't impact our trip) were that the wooden furniture in the condo looks like it's taken a beating-nicks, scratches, knobs missing, water stains on night stands, etc. Other than that, the place was such a wonderful place for us to spend a week. Whoever designed the place had an eye for style! No pink and seafoam green here. :)

Got a great deal for Gulf front condo. Service was great as check in and check out saved alot of time. Condo was nice as we have stayed in Sterling Sands before, unit could use some updating. Unit was clean except for glass on the balcony. Location is great as we like to walk to the Back Porch.Wish we had a parking spot in the garage.

We have stayed at sterling sands many times. One of the nicer condos we have had. Kitchen had been updated very nice. Some minor repairs need to be made. Beds were comfortable. Even with the threat of oil we had a great time. Only one day was effected by oil gone by the next day.

Condo was very nice - great location - right across the street from The Track and within walking distance on the beach to The Back Porch. Less than 5 mins. to Wal Mart, Destin Commons - 10 mins from Silver Sands Outlet Mall. Beach pretty -condo wtih balcony right on the ocean - great to watch the dolphins and stingrays swim by and to listen to the sounds of the ocean. Compass is a great rental company to work with. Mattress on sleeper sofa not comfortable but couch is very comfortable. Mattress in 2nd bedroom sinks in middle. Great vacation!! Destin is a wonderful place to visit!

This was our 3rd visit to the Sterling Sands. We have stayed in 3 seperate units. This unit was beautifully decorated and everything we needed! (one small recommendation is to supply pot holders) Other than that everything was great.
We really liked the fact that we didn't have to worry about who had keys because of code access electronic locks. When we return we will make efforts to secure this same unit. It would be great if the unit is clean that the locks be set an hour to 2 hours early so they can be accessed incase you get there early.
Destin is a great place for family vacations. We always stay there with 2 to 3 other families. We take turns making and sharing meals several nights and the restaurant selection if fantastic. We go somewhere different each time we visit.
We also feel it is a safe beach and area when your children are of the age to roam in the evenings.
