NBRight on the Gulf!
Left on 04/17/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Our family of four (2 adults, 17 year old, 13 year old)stayed in #106 in late March over Easter Break, and the pictures on the website and video tour represent this unit well. We could definitely see the ocean out our window and from the private balcony. (You can't walk off the balcony to get to the beach, it is a closed balcony, but once you leave your back door, the walk to the beach takes only a minute or two to get out the building and just down the short walkway.) We didn't mind if we forgot to take something to the beach and had to go back to the condo. You also see the dunes, and they actually hide all of the umbrellas and people on the beach from the balcony, so when you look out, it looks like the beach is only yours. We were there over Easter so, yes, 98 was very crowded, and the sand area in front of Pelican Beach was crowded too, but there was always room on the beach no matter what time of day you arrived (as long as you didn't want to sit right up by the water.) The condo itself is very nicely decorated, although, it could use a new paint job (scuffs on the walls), the t.v.s are older, not flat screen, and the green blue carpeting could also be updated, but we used all the beds, even the pull-out sofa, and they were all comfortable to sleep on. The blender didn't work and the vacuum didn't work, and it took a couple of days for someone to come replace them. Even though this unit is on the ground floor, and the door to enter is right by a sidewalk and can be noisy in the morning (the garbage trucks pull up close by also), the advantage is that you never have to wait for the elevators and you don't even have to walk through the lobby to go out to your car. The parking lot was never totally full, even during Easter break. We loved that we were sent a key code, and once everyone in the family memorized it or put it in their phones, it was extremely convenient not to have to worry about keys or cards. We would stay in this condo again and book through SVR!

Wonderful location in Destin. First floor unit was very convenient. Keyless entry was great so everyone could come and go without worrying about having a room key.

We had fantastic time at Pelican Beach #106. The unit was conveniently located, and with 2 kids it was a breeze getting in and out. The rooms were clean (even though my husband did find dust on TV shelf), and we got extra linens when asked. The beach was very nice, but, as other travelers said - it was full of "paid" umbrellas, and in order to find a spot you almost had to sit on top of other people, needless to say, there was very little room for kids to play near the water, as all adults gathered there. At some point we felt like we were in the Communist's China or the former Ussr? the beach was surrounded by ropes, and people "fighting” for spots, and the guard who would ask you to move if you crossed the "border” - the rope? Solution: get to the beach early!!!
The door's knob - as other traveler stated, my toddler also tried to open it... maybe would be useful to install an inside type of lock.
Another point, and it has nothing to do with the hotel - in order to cross the road on feet, you had to run like crazy through traffic, which was impossible with two kids, or wait for a long time for all cars to pass, there traffic lights are very far apart... but maybe that is City that has to deal with this.
Other than that, we loved our stay, it was nice and quiet, the unit was nice, full set of cookware, nice view. And a lot of attractions for families with kids and no kids. Fun!
thank you! We will be back!

We had a great stay at pelican beach resorts. The parking is the only complaint i have because if you go to your car at night its a far walk and could be very unsafe. Everything else was wonderful.

Birmingham, AlabamaUnit needs Updating
Left on 07/28/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Spent 2 nights here with my husband and son and daugher-in-law joined us for one night. Check in a breeze and view from balcony better than expected. Being able to rent for only 2 nights also a plus. However, unit needs some serious updating. The carpet and furniture were shabby and bordering nasty. The couch was very uncomfortable and had stuff hanging out from under it. We basiclly stayed on the balcony or sat at the bar or table while we were in the unit. (Thank goodness for good weather!)
I removed the bedspread from the bedroom bed and did not use at all (sand all in it)! Had to take the sheets off, shake the sand out and remake the bed. Had to do the same with the bottom bunk bed before it could be slept in. It is time to remodel this unit!!!Paint...new furniture...New linens...New carpet...Pretty sad to spend close to $600 for two nights and not want to walk on the floors barefoot or sit on any of the furniture! Once updated, the unit would be pretty nice, location is good, resort is nice, and it is close to everything you would ever want to do in Destin! -

Montgomery, TexasWonderful stay/Excellent deal
Left on 05/28/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We stayed 3 nights at PB and enjoyed every minute. The kitchen was very well equipped and the 2 bathrooms were a huge plus. Couple of little things: the wireless internet didn't work and we had 3 laptops that were needed for work and school issues. There is not a washer/dryer. I did love the sound of the ocean coming through the balcony doors. The traffic on 98 is scary if you dare try to turn left out of the property. The Winn-Dixie and Krispy Kreme are just down the road. The beach attendants were very nice and professional. This unit is on the first floor and that can be noisy in the mornings when early travelers are checking out. The view is of the dunes, not ocean unless you look far right or far left. The unit overlooks the sun deck. Overall, we were impressed and comfortable and would do it all over again!

We had such a great time at pelican beach. we traveled with a three year old and a three month old. The only things that we didn't like were the sofa. it was very ratty and uncomfortable. also, there was no dead bolt on the door which concerned me since our son was sleeping in the hall. I would set a chair in front of the door every night. One afternoon a woman opened our door and said that she thought she was supposed to insect the room that day, no big deal but had there been a dead bolt it wouldn't of happened. Also the ceiling in the indoor pool is falling down. its such a nice complex i don't know why they wouldn't fix that . other than that it was wonderful and had beautiful views and everyone around us was so friendly!
