We loved our stay at St. Martin Beachwalk #232. Very cozy & homelike for our family of 5. Best feature is keyless entry on door & gate!
1. Make sure you get the email prior to your stay telling you the 2 codes, beach gate & door of your unit. Mine either went to junk folder or I never got it, but I always call & personally confirm all reservations prior to traveling. When I did, she gave me everything I needed over the phone.
2. Housekeeping & wifi are extra & need to be arranged/paid for by you, it is not automatic. Handle this beforehand or know what to do when you get there. The toll free # for Dale Peterson co. was always helpful.
3. Just like a hotel, the higher up you are, the quieter, but you have to climb stairs. This is a 3rd fl. unit.
4. Things you need to provide yourself:
(short drive to Walmart)
Diswasher detergent (they provide 2 single-use packets)
Spray Cleanser for counters/floors/table
Paper towels (if you need more than 1 small roll)
1 small roll paper towels
2 single-use packets dishwasher powder
One set of extra bedding for sleeper sofa
I did wash/bleach the shower curtains our first day simply because of the humidity, I expected more mildew than was even present, but my 5 year old has allergies, & the shower curtains were the only thing I had to bleach when we got there. You have to remember you're in the deep south, in the gulf where humidty never lets anything dry out, & it was a non issue & something I like to do anyway.
The walk to the beach is approx a couple blocks from unit #232, we finally figured out to drive our car down to the boardwalk, unload it, & drive back to our parking spot. We had our own chairs & umbrella which were bulky, but still not a terrible walk to the beach, it was worth it for the low nightly rate!
We were informed that during our stay there would be construction going on at the complex, but it would not affect the unit we were to stay in. We were supposed to be at #132. Upon our arrival, we found a mess around this building. There were 2x4's everywhere, there were no railings on the stairs, and signs were posted everywhere about construction work that would be done throughout the week and that hard hats were required. I called the office and we were given the option of moving to unit #232. Although we believe that #132 may have been nicer, we felt that with younger kids and grandparents with us, #232 was safer. We settled in to #232 and realized that there were many things that needed work and/or updating. The patio was very dirty and had a broken screen off the master bedroom. The patio door itself would not open and close without two people pulling on it. There was a missing fire alarm with exposed wires hanging from the ceiling. The microwave door was broken. Door knobs in several rooms kept falling off. Blinds in the master bath were missing slats. The kitchen sink leaked from the faucet. The washing maching left stains on several items of clothing. There was a water stained ceiling tile in one of the bathrooms. Neither tv worked in the smaller bedrooms. My dad called your office and was told someone would get back with him about the tv situation, but no one ever called back. Additionally, construction started well before 6 am each day, including work on the original unit, which we were told would not be done. Until work is done on this particular unit, I would never rent it out again. We have stayed at St. Martin before and had a nice time, but we will think twice before returning.

This was the first time we tried Dale Peterson Property Management company and I can ensure you it will be the last. We entered our room (3 stories up) with most of our luggage to discover the room had not even been cleaned. This was at 8 p.m. so our only choice was to go to WalMart and wash sheets ourselves after driving 3 hours! I called and complained and was assured that someone would call me to discuss the problem. After three days, I called the office, left a voicemail and never received a phone call back. One of the main reasons we chose this property was because they told us we could park our boat there for the weekend because they had a back parking lot and the condos were not near occupancy. As our friends arrived with the boat the maintenance man was adamant that we could not leave it there no matter who told us (before making reservation) that we could. It costs us $90 to store our boat that weekend. It has been two weeks and I still have not received a phone call from them. One of the most unprofessional property management companies I have ever dealt with. We spend 4 to 5 vacations a year in Destin and I can tell you Dale Peterson has been crossed off of our list for good!
