  This is our second year to stay in St. Croix 503 and we loved it. The only bad things is that the beds are as hard as a rock. We like the location and everything about the condo except the beds. We will stay with Silver Shells again next year and we would prefer the St. Croix building, but we will search for a different condo and the only reason is the beds or should I say mattresses.

  I have heard from several of my friends about how nice Silver Shells condos were in Destin. My family and I have been vacationing in Destin for 20 yrs and have stayed in several differnet places. I rank this place at the bottom of the list of the different places that we have stayed. Here are a list of problems that we had on our trip:
  1) 2 Toilets overflowed
  2) Pipes for garbage disposal leaked under sink onto floor
  3) 2 phones both out of service. Called maintenance and problem was never fixed.
  4) Room was filthy- Mold in shower, floors were filthy,Tracks on sliding doors disgustingly filthy, Dust build up on entrance door of condo. *We went to Wal Mart to buy cleaning supplies and had to clean for 2 hrs. Hardly a way to start your vacation
  5) Door off track on washer/dryer closet.
  6) Mirror on wall hanging by nail not big enough to support weight fell in the middle of the night and broke.
  7) Pump for pool broke and pool was out of service for 6 days of a 7 day trip. Instead of having a back up pump or ordering a new one, the service company attempted to fix the pump part by part. There is absolutely no excuse for this. We live 6 hours from Destin and have a friend in the pool business. We could have called him and he could have fixed the problem faster than the local company that was used. We were lied to every single day. Service company kept promising that the pool would be ready "The next day". Talk about some dissapointed kids in my family.
  8) No fan or light in living room ceiling.
  9) Picture on TV in living room went out.
  10) Beds not very comfortable
  
  Very easy dealing with the staff of Compass resorts, easy check in and check out. Politley complained to manager at Compass Resorts who was very nice and understanding and credited our stay for 2 nights which was nice but I felt she could have done a little more. I doubt that we will ever stay at Silver Shells again, especially not in unit 503.

  Great Resort - Not so great room

  Room was everything described.
  A/C leak the first night, flooded the guest bedroom carpet. Compass was called and sent maintence to repair a/c unit and they placed a fan in the bedroom. Carpet and pad were soaked.
  Next day, call to Compass Resorts. Loud fan still int he bedroom and had to sleep on the couch. Advised this was unacceptable and they sent someone out to pull carpet and pad and use a vac. This resolved the problem, but had another night of couch sleeping.
  Dryer stopped working and maintence guy found one specific setting on the dryer that worked, but it would not work in any other fashion.
  TV did not work in the master bedroom unpon arrival. Call to Compass and they did replace quickly.
  The resort is great, the pool is great and Destin is awesome!
  This room was less than expected and there seems to be a lack of quality control or pre-visit inspection by Compass to ensure that the customer will not have any issues. No follow up with Compass on the soaked carpet and no follow up to check and make sure everything else was ok. Lack of concern or care for a customer who paid BIG rates to stay in a nice resort with a room that was anything but nice.
