The condo was great just a few items not working but nothing maj

We came the first week of October and the weather was perfect. We were there for a wedding and had a great time visitng everyone from atlanta. the beach wedding was wonderful and the Islander made a perfect place to host the reception. We grilled out at the pavillion and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Heated pool was great! Free umbrella and chairs on the beach were terrific! No complaints! Wished we could have stayed longer!

Love the room, don't like the "beach service".

This was our second trip to the Islander, and the room is great, same as last time. The main difference was the VIP beach service, they didn't have that last time. There are way too many chairs and umbrellas out there and I don't like having some guy tell me which and where I can sit. You can't even get to the water without walking right in front of someone. I ended up enjoying the beach much more after 5 or 6pm when they put all that stuff up. My second issue, though is the transition from ground floor room to parking lot. There are steps, with no handrails, that just empty out in front of someone's car. They need handrails and some space or a sidewalk between them and the parking lot. My daugher slipped and fell on the steps on our last day, a big scrape on her leg and elbow was her parting memory. I like this place overall, but 1st floor access and the crowded beach are negatives.

Best vacation ever

This is a great unit! There are bunk beds, which my kids loved. Each bedroom has its own flat screen tv. The furniture was soft and comfy. My kids said their beds were really soft and comfortable. We had a great vacation. I've been coming to this establishment since I was 16. I love that now I can bring my own family here.

Good stay at the Islander

This is our 3rd stay at the Islander. We stayed in room 102 this time and although it was nice there were some things I thought were a little "rough." The ceilings look like they had water damage and a lot of the baseboards and the wooden sinks. In your literature it states that one of the pools is heated, however, when we were there in mid-October the "heated pool" was 50 degrees. I inquired about this to the front desk and was told they would let the maintence dept. know, however, when I approached a man cleaning the pool area he stated he could do nothing to heat the pool. Very disappointing since there was a very cold spell in Destin that week. The price for October was great but sometimes you get what you pay for.

We love Destin!

My family and I come to Destin every summer and stay at the Islander. The units are always clean and the staff helpful. One issue we had this year is with clean towels! We stayed for 6 days and could not get clean towels when we needed them. In the past we have been able to trade in dirty towels for clean ones at the front desk, but this year we were informed that towels are out sourced...they did not have clean ones on site. (This was on the weekend) So if we wanted clean towels, we had to wash them ourselves in their laundry room. This small issue would cause me to consider staying somewhere else next time.

Getting Pricey

I have stayed at The Islander almost every year for the past 7 years. However, this year I'm considering going elsewhere as price has gone up over the past couple of years.

This particular unit was nice and in a great location. We really enjoy being in a unit that is close to the beach access. The negative side to this unit is the lack of parking in proximity to the front door (when unloading lugguage and groceries). I would definitely consider staying in this unit again if I return.

Great Time Well worth the money

It was a wonderful week. We loved everything about the vacation condo there was plenty of room and we loved being on the bottom floor so that we could just take the kids to beach with a short walk and they could play one the grass whenever needed. It lived up to our expections by far. We would stay there again whenever we can go back.
