Better than expected!
I have stayed at the Islander for many years and have always requested a certain room. This room wasn't available for this trip and I am so glad it was not! What a nice surprise! I love the granite and the updated bathrooms in 111. Very nice surprise and it was better than I expected. I wish all of the other owners would put the time and effort it to their units as well. The only negative comment I have are the sofas. They are very uncomfortable but we really didn't stay inside very much so it wouldn't prevent me from staying in that room in the future. Very nice condo overall!

very nice family environment
this place was very neat and clean. we booked online so we were unsure what we would actually be getting. the internet pics are exactly what you will get. the staff was super nice...we arrived early with kids and they let us check in early!! we had no problems of any kind. the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfy. it is a quiet relaxed kid friendly place...i would reccommend this place to anybody and will be staying again soon!!

I really enjoyed our stay!
I really enjoyed our stay at the Islander. The staff was friendly and the VIP beach service was an awesome surprise!! Our condo was very clean and some what updated. The only thing I could say that needs improving is althought clean the bathrooms could use an updated look. This was my first time staying at the Islander and I would stay again!!

Fabulous weather
The weather was fabulous! The water was beautiful. Having the beach chairs on the beach was spectacular. I think the new renovations look great. However, I think the interior of the condos should be updated. Unit 111 with the granite and dark cabinets looks nice, but with the recent increase in the price per unit, the interior of the condos should be fabulous as well. I was also disappointed with the front desk workers. They were rude and not friendly. The electric kept going out during our stay, which made out condo hot and the food in the fridge warm. I was also disappointed to know that there were other people who paid $99 a night, where we paid much more!! The Islander sends out monthly specials for "New members" with cheap rates. Well, what about the people who have been coming their since 1984? Where is the reward for the loyal customers? I am very displeased and unsatisfied with my overall experience with The Islander and will most likely be taking my business elsewhere, which is a shame because my family comes down at least 2 times a year and sometimes 4.

Watch the amenities offered vs. what they deliver
Amenities offered as "Free Wireless Wi-Fi" was not an wireless router. It was not even operable to use with an ethernet cable. I call for help on the 1st day, and the next day, a maintenance man came to help out. The signal that he got as was the signal that I got, a very weak signal. It resulted in dropped signals, and you would lose your internet page. I put in another call at 3:30 pm, the 2nd day and the maintenance man had gone home before his cut off time, 4:00, (which is early). I call again the 3rd day out of our 5 and he came, but, he said we would need a new unit and that he would be back with a new one. He did and we finally got up and running close to his off time of 4pm. This problem essentially confined my wife and I to our unit 3 days waiting to get up on the internet. Business owners depend on reliable internet, wired or wireless. In this case 3 days out of 5 days were tied up with a inoperable router, the wired type not as the promoted wi-fi.
2nd problem was my wife was told on the beach trying to get a beach chair that she needed to rent her chair from the beach rentals despite the fact that this was another "included amenity".

We are currently working with Cox to try and improve the current situation. Cox have replaced a great many modems, and as most of our units have new routers this problem is diminishing greatly. Indeed this unfortunate incident should be a thing of the past now.
We fail to understand the second point as all our renters receive one umbrella and two chairs there are no fees charged at all for the free beach service. So that point is definitely moort.
