The condo was very nice and bright. The only "dislike" we had was the old coffee maker. It did not turn off automatically and is a fire hazard. It needs to be replaced with a newer model.
We were there with a group that has been coming to the Islander for several years and plan to return next year. -

Check-in: The check-in was ok, however, there was only one person helping so we had to wait in line behind someone asking about the restaurant discounts, etc. and took a long time. It would help if two people were on the desk.
Room: The condo was clean and spacious enough. We keep hoping that a working safe will be installed so we can lock our valuables. We love the location of the room, and that's why we put up with it.
Beach: We like that the beach doesn't have high traffic (love Holiday Isle). Since my husband is an early riser, I don't sweat the small beach situation. We always get a good spot because he's out there so early.
This was our second stay in that condo, and we will probably come back. It is definitely a place to relax and unwind without too much hoopla, which suits us fine.

Ringgold, GeorgiaClean, Nice Rental with Excellent View.
Left on 07/21/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My family did not know what to expect when making the reservations by just looking at pictures over the Internet and reading reviews. Sometimes you are misled, but not in this case. We were very happy with this rental and look forward to coming back in the future. We had no issues and the views were great because the weather was so good. The staff up front were very organized and prepared which made checking in and out very easy. I would recommend this rental to anyone. Thanks so much for a great experience and look forward to staying with you in the future.

The Islander condo was great! Our room was very nice and the bed was actually comfortable! My only complaint about the condo is that it is too far of a walk from the room to the beach, and we hated the way the beach was set up!! And that is the one reason why we would not return to the Islander. It was great that two beach chairs and an umbrella were included with the room, but the way the beach was situated with the chairs being put in a "U" shape was not something we were use to. It was too crowded! We felt like we were right on top of the people next to us. We were not allowed to put up our canopy tent like we do every year we come to Destin at every other condo we have stayed. So, needless to say, the condo was great, but we will not be returning because of the way the beach is situated.

The carpet was dirty. I find it a joke that after 2 days we had to buy our own toilet paper. There was one roll in each bathroom. How much is toilet paper?

Check in was very quick and easy. Staff very friendly. Our room was very clean and comfortable and view was great. Close to the beach. The beach staff was great as well. Do wish the Islander had more space on the beach. Seems it was pretty compact with the way they had to arrange the umbrellas since every room gets an umbrella now. Seems the Islander gets less space than the other places as well. This is our 2nd year to stay at the Islander and we tell all our friends/family about it. We will be back for many years to come.

The recent makeover has added value to our stay and will allow our family to continue our visits. We have stayed at the Islander for over 18 years. Some of the areas noted are the re-aligned walk way out side the pool to the beach.( Great enhancement ) for the most part the rooms our group utilized were updated . our family's unit was all new . The beach was restored ! Our Beach team was the best ever ! As always the Islander is the Best value on Holiday Isle.

Love Destin & the white sandy beach! The beach was back this year, all refurbished & beautiful. Our condo was perfect & had been remodeled recently. It made our stay very comfortable. We stayed during a heat wave...temperatures were 98%...but we spent most of our time right at the pool & beach. Great time for all & much needed R + R for my husband & myself!

Madison, ALRelaxing and Fun Beach Vacation
Left on 06/02/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We enjoyed our stay at The Islander. However, the beach front is too small. You get two chairs and an umbrella free, but you must reserve early (7:30am) to have a setup in the front of their small beach area. It's best to reserve for the entire week if you can. When you leave the beach, you'll be asked if you're gone for the day. Premium spaces are that limited. I'm glad that we went before the summer season, so it wasn't as big a deal. I can imagine how crowded the beach area would be if the condos were full. The condos on either side of us had lots of beach front property which didn't seem fair. The condo had been renovated, however, the ironing board wouldn't collapse and the glass door has a loose metal part. Our teens loved the vacation overall and even preferred it over the Hawaiian cruise we had last year. We recommend "Just Chute Me" parasailing; "SunQuest Sunset Cruise" (prepare to spend alot though, and they apparently didn't understand that the coupon meant for all parties in the group, so I had to keep sending back the check for corrections); "Seablaster Dolphin Cruise" (the one at Harbor Walk, not at a.J.'s); Pompano Joe's seafood house; The Back Porch (both restaurants are on the beach so dress very casual); and Maguire's Irish Pub (you get your money's worth and the food is excellent). Even with the Islander VIP card, you usually had to identify yourself with Southern Resorts before it would register. At Pompono Joe's the VIP card wasn't enough because it didn't have the restaurant name listed on the back of the card. Luckily, we had brought the paperwork which listed the restaurant and what you are entitled to. We had a similar hiccup with SeaBlaster because our names weren't on the VIP card. Southern Resorts needs to socialize their program more or provide better id's. In any case, recommend that you take more than just the VIP card with you. All in all we had a wonderful time and will be back. Destin is a great beach destination.

Growing up my parent always brought us to the Islander and I had such wonderful childhood memories that I wanted to bring my children ages 8,6,and 2. We had a great time. We will definatly be back. The islander is the perfect location for the beach experience. It was wonderful that we were even given the online special price. I was suprised to see how much of the beach was gone but we still had plenty of room to play in the sand. We have recommended The Islander to many of our friends because it is such a family place to stay. That is not always easy to find a place like that.
Room was good. I could see that some rooms were a little more updated but over all it was fine. Very clean. Keep up the great deals and last minute trips!
