Local air transportation includes Northwest Florida Regional Airport (VPS), located about five miles north of Fort Walton Beach, and Destin Airport (DTS), located on Airport Road. Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) is the first international airport to be built in the U.S. in more than a decade. ECP is located in West Bay, near Panama City and Panama City Beach.
