My family and I stayed at the Royal over Memorial Day weekend. The house was wonderful! We loved the decor, the layout, and the location. Just across the street from the pool and a short walk to the beach. We definitely look forward to staying here again.

The Royal is great for a large family and offered privacy for everyone. The decor is fun and looks new. The location across from the community pool was nice. The website shows beach access but it is blocks to the beach and not as close as the website would have you think it is...we were not able to bring chairs or other things down to the beach as it was too far. The dryer in the house did not work and they did not fix it while we were there which was really inconvenient with all the wet suits and towels. Careful with the entertainment package - it's not as great as they would like you to believe especially for a large family. You have to enjoy the extras at different times and two or three people at a time to get the most out of it. We had read in a local newspaper that this rental company was offering incentives for people to reserve/keep reservations to the Destin area in the wake of the oil spill yet even when we expressed concern the only offer we got was for them to cancel our reservation.

The homeowner’s goal is to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome in their home. Their taste in décor and continuous upgrades create a fun atmosphere and keep everything looking new. We are very sorry that the distance to the beach was misleading. I will have the copy changed to reflect the distance. Unfortunately, the issue with the dryer required cleaning of a vent pipe underneath the home and was not a quick fix. We apologize for the inconvenience this caused you and certainly hope you will give us the opportunity to serve you better in the future. We rented Royal Bahamian for spring break at the very last minute after seeing it on the internet. We flew all day and arrived late at night. Thank goodness we ran into Mr. and Mrs. Newman in the parking lot, so that we could get our keys! The house was wonderful, spacious and well appointed. Super location on OceanView Drive, convenient to everything!! We love Crystal Shores and the neighborhood is very inviting and just beautiful. The kitchen had everything and all of the rooms were very colorful; yet, would like to have had more comfortable seating in the living room. We would definitely rent Royal Bahamian again:)

This is a great place in a great location, close to the beach. I had a great time there.
But for the price, I expected fewer problems. Maybe my standards are too high but when I rent a home like this I expect everything to be relatively clean and functional. That was not the case. Furniture was broken, outdoor shower was broken, irrigation system was broken, kitchen sink plumbing was about to fail, wall paper was peeling off the wall, beach chairs were unserviceable (I threw one out), the outdoor barbeque was a mess (I cleaned it to the best of my ability), there were dead trees in the yard, etc.
I left a long list of things for the real estate company and/or owner to work on. Hopefully it will be ready when it gets rented again.Response from Newman-Dailey Resort Properties - 10/27/2008

Immediately upon your departure I went through the home myself and made sure that items we could repair had been taken care of as well as putting together a list for the owner.
