      Just OK

Left on 07/29/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We were there July 21-28th..Needs a lot of TLC done to this townhome. This could be a nice place if you would do some upgrades. The second floor exit to the 1st floor outdoor porch needs improvements now. The top stair at the very top is warped and slants downward. This cause me a 41 year old to fall down the flight of stairs. Luckily I didn't die due to the fall. This needs to be taken care of quickly. I suffered at least 35 huge bruises. The light bulbs needs to be changed a lot of them are burned out. The dryer is awful, it squeals so loudly. It has a beautiful view of the the beach.I think it is a little costly for the stay. I talked to a neighbor which stayed in a 4 bedroom and 3 plus bath and stayed for only a 100.00 more than I stayed in a 2 bdroom and 2 plus bath.

      Horrible!

Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012

I will never stay here again! Oven didn't work and they refused to come back and fix it, the dryer squealed, the kitchen ceiling continually leaked water in the floor, there were broken and loose boards on the bottom deck, the master bedroom cover was full of dog hair (gross!) Found a huge roach crawling across the floor one evening! Bbq grill rusted and not usable! I paid too much money to stay in these conditions! Do Not Stay Here! You will be disappointed

Not a Good Place to Stay in the Destin area

Left on 02/29/2012 for a stay in February 2012

This rental was probably the worse place we have ever stayed in. The downstairs area was off limits do to unfinished construction. Patio furniture was soo old and rusted, the Bbq's were so rusted, you couldn't use them. The fireplace was non existent since there were "rocks" where wood should be and the chimney was removed and shingled over, without notice to the renter. Kitchen utensils were at a bare minimum, and the appliances are in need of replacement. The master bedroom blankets were very dirty and had to be washed on arrival. The list can go on and on. This unit should be addressed by the owner to be updated and cleaned up. One of my major concerns, was that the windows could not be opened, as they were screwed shut, and the smoke detectors were not functional, since the alarm system was disarmed. This is probably a severe violation with codes in Florida for rentals. The view was nice!

      Grubby

Left on 12/27/2011 for a stay in December 2011

I notice most reviews are years old. We were there December 2011. If you are ok with dirty windows, dirty handprints on everything, broken lights (there were 3 out in one bathroom) a microwave with a broken turntable, cracked & chipped cups, ceiling coming down & peeling wallpaper & blinds that are either broken or missing controls, oh & a fireplace you can't use, then this place is for you! We had to Lysol everything before we unpacked or felt safe touching anything. We rent a lot & this place needs a major overhaul, this is the worst one we have rented. On the good side we appreciated being able to take our small dog & not having to rent for 7 days & the views & location were great but not worth the money in this condition. Because none of the outside lites worked my wife fell over on the deck & twisted her ankle which pretty much ruined our trip since she has just had surgery on that foot. On a different note the directions seem to be from one area so be prepared for a $3.00 toll each way on the bridge (Hwy 293) Ours & many other GPS systems apparently don't know this toll is new & directions put you in a sub-division, as we witnessed one guy trying to turn around a trailer.

Perfect Home on the Perfect Destin Beachh

Left on 06/04/2009 for a stay in May 2009

This property was GORGEOUS, reasonably-priced, and located on a pristine part of Destin's beach. There were three levels of decks overlooking the beach, and a jacuzzi tub in the Master Bedroom. The amenities and furnishings were lovely, and it is conveniently located close to all the best restaurants and entertainment destinations in Destin. My family was thrilled with it, and so was I. I would highly recommend it to others.

      Nice home, great location

Left on 05/21/2009 for a stay in May 2009

This property lived up to its billing. It was a very comfortable accomodation with a spectacular view from the picture windows. Conveniently located on the beach, it offers three decks, the lower one with some day-long shade and an outside shower. There is plenty of deck furniture on all three. All appliances were in working order, initial supplies were provided as promised, and the unit was clean and well-kept. Many restaurants are within walking distance, with convenience and beach stores a short drive away. When we were there in early May, the beach was beautiful, the weather perfect and the water "Destin" green. There was a little seaweed on the beach upon arrival, but a tractor picked it up on Monday (don't know if this is standard practice)
Issues reported to management upon departure: one sink in the master bath drained slowly and one outlet cover in the master bedroom was missing. Not reported was that lighting for reading could have been better in the second bedroom (bedlamps or table lamps needed). If there are more than four people, they will sleep on the three sofabeds in the living room.
Overall, it was a very plesant stay, and upon departure we made reservations for next year.

      Great View!

Left on 01/21/2009 for a stay in December 2008

The view was fabulous - and right on the beach! Easy access!! At first, the condo seemed almost perfect. However, there were LOTS of little problems. One of the sleeper sofas was broken. But Sandcastles was great about bringing in a couple of beds that were quite comfy. The fireplace didn't work! Huge disappointment! For looks only! I even called ahead of time to find out if it was a gas or wood burning fireplace. I was told gas. It would seem that the main office would know what is in each unit. We had no grill - as advertised. But one quick call got us one. And lots of lights were out - particularly outside. So we had to grill by flashlight. Loved the master suite!! Great view, again, and super comfy bed. But the 2nd bedroom seemed quite shabby by comparison. Regular size utensils would have been nice. We had to eat with cocktail forks a lot of the time. Lots of drawer, cabinet and closet space. That was nice. All in all, it's a great property, but really needs a lot of the kinks worked out. But for the price, in the winter, $100 a night, it worked out great. Will probably go back!

The weather was beautiful and we had a great time. The accomodations need some attention. The carpets were stained and the door to second floor deck access was difficult to open and close. Beach and beach access was great.

      Needs a little fixin' up

Left on 09/28/2008 for a stay in July 2008

Green Reef has great beachfront views and access. Home is in need of some repair. Cracked tile, unusable ice maker, and other. Somewhat dirty when we arrived, mostly floors were a mess. If you went barefoot for 5 minutes your feet were black, not just sand. We had to make a Walmart run for coffee pot, it was broken, no can opener, a given for a beach house, and a few other dish and cook ware, there were few things for actual cooking and serving. Otherwise, it was okay.

      Could Have Been Better

Left on 09/26/2008 for a stay in September 2008

We have been vactioning in Destin for almost 40 years, this was the most disappointing rental we have ever stayed in. The view would have been beautiful, but the windows were more than dirty, they were filthy. The kitchen- I had to wash everything before we used it. The utensils were dirty, some with food still stuck to them.
Some glasses, dishes, pots & pans looked like someone used them and stuck them back in the cabinet. I even had to hand wash the utensil tray. Around the sink faucet was nasty. There was coffee spilled down the front of one of the cabinets. Refrigerator door handles were supposed to be white, they were gray from dirty hands. Inside of the refrigerator needed to be wiped down. The ice maker in the bar area was turned off and moldy inside. The laundry area- There was a can of roach spray sitting out in the open. Yes,we did see a roach in the living area before the week was over. liquid detergent was spilled down the front of the washer. Seal inside front loading machine was caked with a black, gritty goo. The living area- The grout on the tiled floor was cracked and chipped out in places and had not been swept.
Bathrooms were clean, shower door downstairs was broken, shower door in master would not close completely.Bedroom carpets were dirty & stained. One of the comforters was dirty, the other one was filthy & stained. Couldn't use the loft area, it was chained off with a sign saying "do not enter". This unit needs to be completley refurbished. The floor in the living area is so warped the door to the deck will not open all the way. There was no key to the deck door or the gate,so we had to leave it unlocked while we were on the beach. It was 2 days before Sandcastle Escapes sent a locksmith. Doors under the TV in master are barely hanging, missing screws. This was the only unit at Green Reef that the deck did not go straight to the beach. It leads you back towards the street, then between units and up a hill to get to the beach. Deck rail on second floor deck is loose. One of the support beams for the deck is split in two. Also there are rusty bolts sticking out where you have to walk. My son caught & cut his toe on one of them. From what I saw the other Green Reef units are alot nicer than this one. I would not recommend Green Reef #6 to anyone.

      Could be better!

Left on 09/25/2008 for a stay in August 2008

We arrived to find this condo not as listed. The ad never indicates that the "loft" is a part of the Master Bedroom. Which was a moot point anyway as the "management" had made a decision to close the loft the week prior to our visit due to a child being injured, but never bothered to contact us so that we could make other arrangements. This loft sleeping area was figured into our sleeping arrangements. The "management" did not even offer to move us. We also got "no answer" from them for 48 hours we tried calling and leaving messages. We finally had to drive over to get our issues resolved which included no coffee maker, blender, iron, or hot water downstairs, and rain leak in the living area. Unit is up for sale, so it was very obvious the owners are neglecting its upkeep. Deck was dirty with trash beer bottles and cigarette butts EVERYWHERE. No working lights on outside deck to enjoy evenings. This unit is in need of lots of repair work.

Response from Sandcastle Escapes & Beach Seekers - 09/25/2008

      Sandcastle Escapes & Beach Seekers

      Manager

      Lisa,

Thank you so much for submitting your review on Green Reef condo. After some investigating it was obvious to us what happened during your stay. The home had been rented long term through another company for two years and was also for sale. We acquired the property not long before your arrival and had little time to react to the aftermath. The loft is dangerous because there were no railings and the steps were too steep. We now have a sign in front of the loft area explaining the situation and all appliances have been restocked. We have also had the interior of the unit repainted, decks have been pressure washed, all electrical problems have been repaired, new patio furniture and the interior floors and grout have been washed and sealed. Green Reef has never looked better!

Thanks again for the great comments!

Green Reef #6 is a fabulous location, step out your door and you are on the beach. However, the townhome is in dire need of renovation. Granted, it is pet friendly, it still did not meet my expectations. I have rented two more times from sandcastlescapes reality, once at Hidden Dunes, and once at Ariel Dunes since April and had most pleasant experiences. Fantastic condos! The staff at sandcastle are terrific to work with.

Left on 09/24/2008 for a stay in May 2008

We had beatiful weather, it's a beautiful property, but we did have a couple of issues - the path to the ocean had cigarette butts all over it and the lower deck had un-emptied ashtrays as well - gross! We also asked about the key to the deck gate but got no response. Lastly, the jets in the whirlpool tub weren't functional even thought the property is advertised as having a jacuzzi tub. Layout was great, though, furniture really suited us and our needs, and the view was spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed my stay here at the Green reef #6. It had spacious rooms for all the 7 of us staying here, and my favorite part about this place is that it is right on the beach and 3 levels of deck over looking the beatiful gulf of mexico.
