“Amazing week at The Devon Lodge” We returned this Summer to the Devon lodge. The weather forecast was not good but turned out to be wrong. We were on the beach most days until the evening, the children were body boarding and rockpooling and kite flying. We spent our time at Duckpool, Sandymouth, Croyde and Bude. Fantastic week, would highly recommend. Didn't spend too much time in the Lodge as we were out each day but the accommodation is of very high standard, it was very comfortable, clean and very well equipped for eating in and maps, games, etc.

“Great place to stay and re-charge your batteries!” From the moment of arriving Jeremy and Lynda couldn't have done more to make me feel welcome and valued. The cottage was immaculate and had everything you could possibly need. The location is superb and is very peaceful yet plenty to do on the doorstep. I heartily recommend a cream tea at Cheristow Lavendar which is just a short walk away and a visit to atlantic Village in Bideford. The only downside was having to go home!

About Devon

With a population of about 1.1 million, Devon, a county of England represents some of the best tourism the entire country has to offer. Reaching from the Bristol Channel to the English Channel, there are hundreds of bustling towns, quaint villages, and pleasant countrysides to see. The north and south coasts of Devon each have both cliffs and sandy shores, and the county's bays contain seaside resorts, fishing towns, and ports. Inland, you'll find a more rural landscape with less populated areas that are rather hilly, but still beautiful. Over the years Devon has become a hotbed of tourism and leisure due to its climate, coastline, and attractions. Visitors love spending time in the south coast resort towns in the south, the Jurassic Coast, and the Dartmoor and Exmoor national park areas.

Things to do in Devon

The attractions and things to do in a large region such as Devon are endless. There are so many areas to start your journey. In Dartmoor you'll find the most famous National Park in the region with a rugged beauty you have to see to believe. There are 368 square miles to explore, hike, and bike. Speaking of biking, don't miss Drake's Trail. If you like museums, stop in to the fascinating Dartmoor Prison Museum. Quiet, lovely Plymouth is full of culture and is family-friendly. You'll find theater, art galleries, and live music here. For the best seaport town with cobbled streets and classic architecture, be sure to visit Exeter and stop in to the myriad shops and boutiques lining the waterfront. Canoe the coves and experience the maritime history of the English Coast or hit the beach in South Devon. Go Coasteering in Exmoor - but make sure you love adrenaline before you do!

Our Stay

We stayed on 6th April for a few nights. We were 2 adults, 1 child and 1 dog. Absolutely fab location, beautiful views and lovely walk to the beach along the coastal path. The apartment was lovely, modern decor and furnishings and clean. We had great communication from when we booked and everything was very easy. We'd definitely recommend and stay again. Thank you.see more

Beautiful cozy cottage in charming village

I can't recommend this cottage more highly! There were four of us visiting the area for the bank holiday, the cottage is cozy but it was perfect for two couples, it has all the facilities and we slept comfortably. Pete was very communicative and easy going with our check-in and check-out, he and the wife came to meet us, very friendly couple, they left tea, milk, coffee and some biscuits for breakfast for us The cottage is right next to the local pub, grocery shop and train station which is really convenient. Lympstone is a very charming town on the river side, there's an amazing cycle path that links Exeter with Exmouth, which goes through different villages and the countryside, if you're looking for a relaxing weekend with outdoor activities this is the perfect place to stay! Luxurious house with fabulous views

Great location, only five minutes from the centre of Dartmouth, though only for those who can climb steps easily. Very good accommodation and great facilities in the Lounge/diner/kitchen.I went there for my birthday celebrations with my children and grandchildren and the accommodation adapted well even for such a large gathering.see more
Shipload Cottage
peaceful and relaxing place

We experienced a warm welcome with scones, clotted cream, jam and wine what distinguishes this place from many others. We only arrived on a Saturday towards evening but we could still buy some food for breakfast in the shop "Pop-In" in Hartland. (The shop appears to be open every day.) Excellent pub-food and friendly staff in the Kings Arms in Hartland. Plan some time for Hartland Abbey with its fascinating exhibitions.see more

Great Little Place

At the end of October in glorious sunshine this was a great location and a comfortable apartment. Not a huge amount of kitchen equipment but the RW yard oozes great restaurants so a great excuse not to cook but eat out instead. The apartment was warm and comfortable, a good TV selection and comfortable furniture and beds. We enjoyed our stay.see more
