Charming cottage in Dinan near river (B008)

This charming self catering holiday home is located at the port of Dinan. This gite is a short walk to the cobbled street of Rue du Petit Fort which leads on up the hill through Rue du Jerzual and into the town of Dinan, this cottage is great for a short vacation or longer holidays. On Rue du petit Fort and rue du Jerzual one can see excellent examples of half timbered houses dating back to the fifteenth century, the 13th century Jerzual gate giving access to the walled town and "La Maison du Gouverneur" (the Governor’s House). The nearest restaurants can be found at the port which is a few minute's walk. The gite comprises:- on the ground... floor an open plan lounge/ kitchen area with 2 lounge suites, dining table and chairs. There is a private garage and laundry room with washing machine. On the 1st floor is a bedroom with double bed and bathroom with bath and shower above and a separate toilet. On the 2nd floor is a bedroom with a double bed and single bed. On Shops: There is a bakery at the bottom of Rue du petit Fort and there are craft shops and restaurants on the way up Rue du petit Fort and on Rue du Jerzual. There are numerous food and other shops closer to the town; still less than 10 minutes walk from the cottage. There are supermarkets within a 10 minute drive. Restaurants: In the immediate vicinity there are many; the nearest is Le Cottage which has a great atmosphere as the food is grilled over the wood burner. Next door to this is La Lumachelle which specialises in Pizzas. On the corner of Rue du Petit Fort and Rue du Port there is a creperie and just opposite by the bridge is Restaurant Les Terrasses which has a beautiful terrace right next to the river. Then there are numerous other restaurants and bars on Rue du Port. Travel - There are many ferry services to Brittany available including Portsmouth to St. Malo, Caen and Cherbourg, and Poole to Cherbourg with Brittany Ferries or P&O.; Flights to Brittany are available from London to Rennes, and by Ryanair at a very attractive price, from London Stansted or East Midlands to Dinard. Arriving at the Brittany port of St. Malo or Dinard leaves an easy drive of about 30 minutes to Dinan. The public transport connections are good throughout Brittany and for cycling enthusiast, there are interesting routes from St. Malo to the cottage.

A security deposit of 300 € is required on arrival at the apartment.

Rental week commences from 4pm (16.00 hrs) Saturday to 10am (10.00hrs) the following Saturday.

A 30 % non refundable booking deposit is required to secure the booking with the balance due eight (8) weeks prior to arrival date.

  We loved this house. It's located right in the old port (the map is not showing the correct location. It's on rue de la Madelaine, it takes one minute to walk to the river). I loved the town, the people and the location (close to St.Malo, Mont St. Michel...). More importantly, my kids (5 and 8) loved the house. It felt like home, after a long day of touring.
  
  The only negatives are that the washer doesn't spin very well so the clothes are very wet and don't dry in the damp garage (I would hang them in the room and it would take a good 48 hrs to dry). The other negative is that the house could have been a bit cleaner (I'm pretty picky though). The linen's were very clean. That said, I would stay there again in a heart beat. Loved it!

  Gite was very comfortable with all mod cons great location. Wendy who owns the Gite was very helpfull & friendly, check in times were good no waiting around.
  Would recommend highly we will definately go back.

  Well located in the port area - the climb to the town keeps you fit :-) Well equipped and has integral garage - but not the easiest to get in and out of if someone parks in the road opposite! However, we were able to park outside the front door for most of our stay. Stairs are fairly steep, so might not be suited to someone with limited mobility.We spent a very pleasant couple of weeks here.
