Sugar Bay is one of our favourite and most wonderful waterfront villa. It has been a holiday home to a Jamaican family who arrived from Ireland in the early 1800's and have made their living from farming and developing the natural resources of the Jamaican land. Sugar Bay was built in 1995 and is located on the lovely Discovery Bay and is among other homes along this strip that are owned by other prestigious homeowners.

This home enjoys the most beautiful white sandy beach of Discovery bay, right in your backyard. The interiors are beautifully and carefully chosen by the owner and includes elegant custom-designed furniture which has bee...n hand crafted in the workshop of the owners manufacturing plant for custom furniture. Many of these woods are from their own acreage. There are many wonderful local art pieces from Jamaica, the Caribbean and from around the world.

There is a wonderful sweeping mahogany staircase which gracefully curves through the living room to the gallery upstairs sitting room. Upstairs, there is a sitting room with TV as you come up the sweeping staircase. Off the landing are three bedrooms and baths, each beautifully decorated and have commanding spectacular ocean views from their private balconies. There is Satellite TV, VCR and Stereo Sound systems which fills the house with wonderful sounds. There is a wonderful furnished veranda which is one of the focal points of gatherings, entertaining or just relaxing. From this veranda the wonderful pool glimmers and beyond that is the green grassy knoll which leads straight to the white powdery beach and into the blue Caribbean sea.

The Master bedroom has a wonderful king sized four poster bed. This spacious bedroom also has a sitting area with computer, TV, balcony with ocean views, own ensuite bathroom, whirlpool tub, separate walk-in shower, double vanity basins, bidet, walk-in closet. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are also located upstairs and have their own ensuite bathrooms and tub-shower combination and bidet. The forth bedroom is located downstairs, and has a kingsize bed, TV, lovely French doors to the private porch and pool own ensuite bathroom and bidet. The fifth bedroom is also located downstairs and has 2 double beds, TV, ensuite bathroom.

There is a seaside gazebo which provides the perfect setting for enjoying the sunsets, or just enjoying your tropical drinks, or having romantic candlelit dinners. This is an absolutely magical spot for guests.

  We stayed at this wonderful villa for a week with our children and another family. From the outset, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. The villa is beautifully designed and has a lovely homely feel to it. Our rooms were extremely comfortable and there were lots of different seating areas in and outside the villa for adults and children to have their own space. Our children spent their time in the swimming pool, kayaking, snorkelling and crabbing. We spent our time relaxing by the pool, having delicious drinks made for us and eating the cook's amazing food. I can safely say it was our best family holiday ever.

  Memorable family holiday

  We are a family of four and we recently joined up with friends and their kids for a dream come true week at Sugar Bay Villa - Discovery Bay.
  We arrived with high expectations and from the moment we came up the driveway to a warm Jamaican welcome from the staff we felt like special people in a special place. The kids were soon off exploring the sea together whilst we adults tucked into the first of many rum based drinks and contemplated a week of bliss. No cooking to be done, no washing up, no laundry, every whim catered for... a real holiday stretched out before us.
  The house itself is beautiful, high ceilings and a gorgeous staircase welcome you in and the eye is immediately drawn through the house to the sea. Terraces, gazebos and a beautiful deck provide plenty of options for lounging and lunching and of course the crystal clear pool always beckons and naturally ends up being the place in which little and big kids spend many a happy hour. Spice that up with your very own kayaks off the beach or a spot of snorkelling (even close by the house we saw some colourful fish and decent corals) and the days are easy to fill as actively - or passively - as you could wish.
  Our bedroom (we were in the main) was gigantic with a view over the garden and out to sea. Lovely comfy bed which even had flowers on it when we arrived, a bathroom straight out of an advert... The other bedrooms all looked spacious too, each with its own character but all top hotel standard yet nicer because of that feel you only get when you're in your "own" villa. We wish!
  What else? Well we played a lot of tennis, ate a lot of good food, marvelled at the way adults and kids all relaxed and got used to being looked after, developed a taste for mojitos, slept like babies and woke up every day refreshed and looking forward to being pampered some more.
  A blissful holiday which we would all have extended to a second week if we could. For groups of friends, extended family or families holidaying together this is a real treat and one that we could not recommend more highly. Sugar Bay is your slice of heaven in a beautiful part of Jamaica, a memory making holiday that still brings a smile to my face.
