Spring, Texas, United Stateseverything was superb and equivalent of a five star resort but t
Left on 01/01/2013 for a stay in December 2012
The Village at the D & B Ranch was a wonderful vacation, while we were there, everything was going well. The InnKeeper was attentive, he was experienced in the surrounded area and advising us on where to go with the area. We like the fact it was seculded enough but then w/n a short drive away was Co Spr and Manitou Springs which has several things to do to occupty all of us from adults to our 6yr old child. The decorations were exquisite, the location was exactly what our family needed and wanted for a week under his care.
We were going to set up a time to return in the summer; as well as, bring our extended family back and take up all the cottages for two weeks surpassing Christmas next year. However, at the end of our stay my husband accidentally gave him the wrong the expiration date on the card. Not knowing this was the case, until we were polietly notified by the InnKeeper prior to our departure then my husband did of course give him the right expiration date. However, there still seemed to be some kind of problem after we checked out into the 3 busy days leading up to Christmas; as w/ the c.c. or payment system the innkeeper chose to use and is currently using still didn't accept our payment. My husband was up there on business and we enjoyed our time w/ D&B; and had plans on returning until the InnKeeper's system for collecting payment was not working. Due to no fault of our own and the InnKeeper overreacted by over aggressively recharging the c.c. as his system showed it wasn't working or going thru. Thus this resulted in our c.c continually being charged on our end thus our c.c company protected us by putting a fraud alert on the aggresively charged c.c. card of which couldn't be addressed until after the holidays- as the dept incharge of removing the 'flag' due to his over aggressiveness in recharging our card wasn't open until after the first of the year. B/c it wouldn't go thru due to his systems being inadequate isn't our problem; however he then proceeded to then call our places of employments and threateded law enforcement actions... We checked out three days before Christmas and through our Christmas time back at home we have sInce been threatened by the innkeeper himself, saying he was going to call our jobs and the police in our area. Obvioulsy, I'm confused and so is my husband as this is not our fault that the system he chose to use is inadequate for collecting funds and nor does he have a plan B for instances as such. Due to the Christmas time he couldn't get ahold of his processing company-again he chose to use; as this is of no fault of ours; therefore he had to wait until after the holidays but he chose to continue his vile threats for two weeks. We restated we didn't feel any of his technical difficulties were of our control. We stated we felt we paid the bill the day we checked out- 3 days before Christmas and that it was b/c of his over aggressive actions plus his inadequate c.c system he uses to collect payment, coupled w/ the fact he has limited DSL access to collect payment all his factors delayed his payment. Did the InnKeeper ever think that his system that he chose to use to collect payment might have been overloaded w/ other merchants using the same c.c./payment system? No. Plus coupled w/ the fact that the c.c. / payment system he is currently using is indeed in the middle of nowhere (as this gem of a place is at the bottom of pikes peak) and there is not any service out in that area? No . He didn't thiink about these two obvious Facts- and all we got was threateded .
We did find out when we stayed there - there is very limited DSL service; however we didn't mind there wasn't any cellular service as this is what we were looking for in our vacation. We dont appreciate the fact that the two biggest factors stated above are not in our control, he didn't offer to even call the c.c processing company to collect payment or see if it was an error on his party(he offered no remedy of the sort), he didn't see any of this as his fault all b/c his c.c./payment system he chose to use didn't work. Oh and to protect our funds; as he was trying to process our payment over several times the c.c. blocks the merchant from collecting funds due to possible fraud activity. However all of these uncontrolled errors on our part and even his part are explainable and could've been worked out professionally, But he chose to be rude, threatening, impatient, threatening to his guests, and risk ruining your reputation that you have worked so hard to build as none of this was our fault as patrons/guest. I do not like the way he handled this minor business flaw- situation. B/C he ran the payment over serveral number of times and days thus culminating on Chistmas Day of which the dept needed to release the funds due to the fact his charges were flagged for fraud activity-which they weren't but they were flagged b/c of the amt of times he ran the payment-the investigations dept was indeed closed and not opening up after the new year thus had to wait to collect funds b/c of his actions- until the appropriate c.c.dept could prove his several attempts were indeed due to aggressiveness but not fraudualent activity. However, b/c of his recourring and aggressive actions he had to wait twice as long to collect his funds as the dept doesn't investigate any of this til that dept opens up after the holidays. Additional contributing factors also not w/n our control, besides his actions and the payment system he uses to collect funds, is the location not having any service to collect funds and he doesn't have a back up and refuses to call to collect funds...again none of this is our fault.
I thought he was a very kind man, we had several nice converstaions, I felt he jumped the gun with the threatening phone calls to our jobs and the police. I felt all this was uncalled for by the InnKeeper. I understand he got anxious over his payment and no one ever said they weren't going to pay him. But he isn't taking any responsibility over his own actions and if he would've been patient he wouldn't have caused the process to take so long. I'd consider paying some other kind of 'reputable' company to process your payments and one that doesn't shut down over the hoidays as if/when something happens if you choose to actually do so you can call them and get answers, but again he didn't offer any remedy but vile threats verbal and on email...but thats my opinion.
Due to the fact he was over aggressive leading to the payment taking longer than anyone expected for him to receive; coupled with the fact he has no service and he has no other way to collect payment lead him to get verbally abusive with my husband and us as a family. He over reacted b/c of his processing system and I felt all of it was unjustified as it's his business and he needs a contigency plan of sort which would alleviate yoru patrons being threatened and treated like trash.
So if you stay here please consider dealing with someone who does things their own way, doesn't find a more effiecient way to process funds. Plus be aware if you don't do things his way be aware you might be threated w/ the police, nasty phone calls, and threatening emails. All of which are out of our control as it's his business he needs to figure out how to run it more efficiently.
The Deans.
I'm sorry the relationship ended so abruptly due to the innkeepers actions however he instiaged all his actions, didn't find a second solution and quickly blamed his guests.Response from Jerry Rossel - 01/11/2013

The guests gave me two unaccepted CC and were turned down by PayPal--finally on the 3rd CC, it was approved--it took about 7 days--I never called the account's job and never had an account give me 3 CC no.s with only the last one being accepted--in my 11 years of operation, I have never experienced unaccepted cards twice--I was advised to call the local sheriff dept. but never did and I gave them extra time to get the lodging paid for--Jerome A.
