      A Wonderful Stay In Doolin

Left on 09/01/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We traveled to Doolin to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. The house was a great place to stay. Everything was well-kept and very cozy. The kitchen was perfect for preparing meals (and a large grocery store was a short drive away). The house is convenient for traveling around the area, but was still quiet and relaxing. We were able to have our laundry done at a local shop not to far from the home. There is no Wi-fi access, but that was a minor inconvenience.

Maureen was such a sweetheart. She made us feel so welcome, and even left us a note with suggestions for what to do when the forecast called for rain the next day.

There is so much to do in the area that we could have tripled our stay length and still not seen it all. The home had many travel brochures, maps, and flyers about the area. Maureen had many wonderful suggestions and was full of information. We appreciated how much pride she took in Doolin and County Clare. She really wanted to make sure we had a great stay and we saw the best the area had to offer.

      Lovely

Left on 08/21/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We were a group of three women 60+, a couple in their 30s, and one 13-month old boy.

      Pros:
Maureen is an absolute sweetheart! I didn't get to meet James, but my in-laws did and they said he was very kind. Maureen made us delicious homemade treats and a beautiful card that we keep in our memory book now.

The house was affordable and impeccably clean upon arrival. It's location was serene, green, deliciously quiet and stunning. Plus the neighbors were very kind.

Like the Droneys, everyone we met in Co. Clare are friendly, sweet, knowledgable and proud. We went with no plans (except for the wedding we went to) and went with suggestions by the locals, which worked out beautifully.

      Cons...well, sort of...they weren't big deals...they all have "buts":
The refrigerator busted a few days into our stay, but Maureen visited multiple times a day, every day to bring ice and/or take our food to her home to secure in their freezer. We lost a few things to spoilage toward the very end of the trip, but honestly, it wasn't a big deal. The day we left she informed us that they got a new fridge, so guests after us shouldn't have had any problems.

Also a few days into our stay, one of the water heating switches busted, so a couple of us had a cold shower, but the heating switch to the whole house ended up heating the water as well, so that was the end of that. Again, I was informed that this was repaired after we left.

You do need a car to travel to and from this house. But, given that you have the car, the location offers both that quiet, getaway feel and is centrally located enough to the Clare sites (Doolin: 10-ish min drive, Ennis: 45-ish min drive, Ennistymon: 30-ish min drive, Burren: 30-40-ish min drive depending on what part you're going to, etc).

There is no landline or internet/wifi connection in this house. But again, it wasn't a big deal. I say, "Be on vacation!" The square in Lisdoonvarna has public phones, and The Irish arms has free wifi for patrons - both barely a 5-min drive from the house.

Con that has nothing to do with the house, but FYI:
There is no aTM anywhere in Lisdoonvarna...the closest aTM is in Ennistymon. This was the biggest pain in the rear, but only because we thought there would be more access to atms within the town.

We wanted a break from our daily east coast city living, and Doolin Breeze certainly delivered. Wish we were still there...

      Thank you Maureen and James!

Warmest welcome we've ever experienced, everything within the house was clearly explained.
Furnishings, decor and facilities provided within the house made it very homely and comfortable - a real pleasure to return to each day after exploring the local area.
Ideal base for exploring the coast, the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher and much, much more.
Regular contact with owners ensured any queries were immediately answered and gave us access to a wealth of local knowledge.

Warm welcome by Maureen with afternoon tea with
sandwiches and a lot of useful informations about the area. The house is perfectly furnished, comfortable and and situated in a quite location. We were very happy to live in this house. Maureen and James are the best landlords we ever met. The surounding of Doolin is a paradise for people who love nature. A car is absolutely
      nessasary.

      Unser Heim in Irland

Left on 03/27/2012 for a stay in October 2010

Cliffs of Mohair vom Ausflugsboot

Left on 03/11/2012 for a stay in May 2007

We cannot say enough for Doolin Breeze and its' owners. It fit our every need beyond our expectations.

For local flavor, it is within a stone's throw of Lisdoonvarna and Doolin. There you'll find lovely little shops and friendly people. The pubs are a must for delicious food and good Traditional Irish music provided by the locals.

Although Doolin Breeze is located in a somewhat rural and very peaceful countryside, it is close to Shannon airport as well as numerous day trip sights to the surrounding areas.

Our stay along with another couple was thirty days and we would do it all again in a heartbeat.
