Potomac, Maryland, USAViews & Comfort in County Clare!
Left on 06/17/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We truly enjoyed our 1-week stay at Fuschia Cottage and would whole-heartedly recommend this home to family, friends or anyone looking for a truly Irish experience in County Clare!
To awaken to the views of sea, cliffs, islands and the Burren hills is a pleasure that we found nearly indescribable. The weather was poor for much of our stay, but even in the rain & wind the beauty of this location is inescapable. We enjoyed every single moment of our stay: whether snuggled-up in the cozy living room with a blazing peat fire and dinner cooking on the stove or sitting out on the front patio watching the sun set over the sea and cliffs with a little sip of Irish whiskey in our glasses! It was sheer relaxation and a week of comfort and serenity!
The Cottage itself is as pictured and described. Comfortable, clean, well-stocked and perfect for a family or group of friends.
In addition to the restful beauty of the place, we also enjoyed our typical visits to the Doolin pubs to hear the traditional music and enjoy a bit of craic at McDermott's, just a short drive down the road. We visited Galway, Fenore, Ballyvaughan,Inisheer island and all the sites in-between.
As always, Frank & Marian Sheedy are the consummate hosts: whatever we needed or wanted was quickly and gladly provided. If you've ever dreamed of visiting Ireland away from the cities and tourist traps we would strongly encourage you to book Fuschia Cottage. You couldn't possibly be disappointed!

Cottage was an Irish dream! Location pushed it over-the-top! Close to Doolin & all attractions, yet peaceful out-of-town location w/views of atlantic (Irish Sea), Aran Isls, Galway Bay, Burren, farms, cottages, fields of flowers & beautiful cows in the fields. Quality abounds inside w/traditional decor & sleek, top quality furnishings from linens to local artist paintings. Owners, the Sheedys, are excellent caretakers & most pleasant hosts. Dine at their Roadford House Restaurant for inventive 'farm to table' menu - highly recommended! We shall return & recommend Fushia Cottage, Roadford House, Frank & Marion Sheedy to all - top marks! Thank you for the hospitality!!!

Left on 03/10/2011 for a stay in April 2010
My husband and I rented "Fuschia Cottage" from Marion and Frank in Doolin Co. Clare for the months of april and May 2010. It was a joyous experience for us. The cottage was comfortable and well-appointed. We had everything we needed for our stay there. Frank and Marion were very friendly and helped explain the operation of the equipment (ie the Hob) not common in Canada. We also enjoyed an excellent meal at their restaurant in Doolin. I was sad to leave after two months and would certainly recommend Fuschia Cottage for a place to rent.

Fuschia Cottage is a lovely home with absolutely amazing views, and we very much enjoyed our 10-day vacation there! Frank & Marian were wonderful hosts, always available for any questions or concerns. The cottage is very comfortable, and we immediately felt right at home. There's plenty of room, and it is well equipped. We especially enjoyed the sun porch on sunny afternoons! We would absolutely stay there again, and highly recommend a stay at Fuschia Cottage.

Left on 03/09/2011 for a stay in November 2010
Fuschia Cottage is a little piece of heaven on earth. Its setting, overlooking fields of sheep in the foreground, the stark beauty of the Burren with its rocky cliffs spraying up white water, the Bens of Galway and the aran Islands out in Galway Bay, is truly spectacular. One can even see the beginnings of the cliffs of Moher in the distance.
The cottage itself is lovely and spacious. It has a very well-equipped kitchen, comfortable great room where one can enjoy a peat fire, bright sunroom for enjoying the fabulous views and the ever-changing skies. It is really just loaded with charm.
The location is excellent, convenient to Doolin with its music pubs and ferries to the aran Islands.I is also near the cliffs of Moher, famous caves, and the many neolithic ruins of the Burren. It's within easy driving distance of Shannon.
Our hosts, Marian and Frank are warm, welcoming and helpful. They were available to help with information about the area, as well as on the workings of the house- stove, fireplace, heating system, etc.
I hope to one day return to stay at Fuschia Cottage. it was a magical vacation in spite of some rough weather. I woul wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. -

From the moment we walked in the door of Fuschia Cottage we knew our
vacation was charmed. The cottage was gracious and accommodating for our
whole family, and the views constantly took our breath away. We found the
cottage to be ideally located for exploring the west coast of Ireland. We hope
to return. -

Fuschia Cottage is a five star - worthy of a detour! It is the perfect location for visiting the west and experiencing one of Ireland's treasure's the Burren. The house is truly a home - it overlooks the Atlantic, Galway Bay and the Aran Islands. It is a delightful place to wake up in the morning and Doolin is a wonderful place to end the day with Irish music and great pubs. The house has everything you need, is immaculate and is managed by a wonderful family who are close by with touring ideas and tips. Stay once and you will return -- I have six times!

My daughter and I had the wonderful opportunity to stay for three weeks in June and July of 2009. It was a wonderful experience. The house was great! Very comfortable, well equipt and a fabulous view. To the left, the Cliffs and to the right the vast Burren. It was quaint and rural, but at the same time, close to the small village and everything we needed. It was also close to many activities like the Doolin cave, the Perfumery and the surfing town of Lahinch. Overall, a perfect spot. Of course our hosts couldn't have been more hospitable. Marion and Frank left us fresh brown bread daily. Their restaurant was something not to be missed! I can't wait to return!!!

Fuschia Cottage-Ballinalacken-County Clare, Ireland
We have stayed at Fuschia Cottage in Ballinalacken, County Clare, four times in the past few years for periods between one and two weeks. Each time we have enjoyed our stay immensely. The Cottage is spacious, clean, well appointed, and convenient to the towns of Doolin, Lisdoonvarna, and Ennistymon for supplies, pubs, several excellent restaurants, and other needs for self catering, and is about an hour’s drive from Shannon Airport. There is even a wholesale fishmonger in Doolin where a wide variety of fresh seafood is available.
The Cottage is owned by Frank and Marian Sheedy who are very nice people and available to help with various situations which may arise during self catering. They even helped us purchase free range eggs for making our breakfast.
The Cottage is large and comfortable and has a fabulous view of Galway Bay and the Aran Islands with Connemara and the Cliffs of Moher in the distance. The sunsets over Galway Bay viewed from the Cottage’s sunroom are magnificent and a photographer’s delight.
We strongly recommend a stay with the Sheedys in County Clare.
