We stayed here for nearly a week with 2 small children. It was brilliant to have the pool and a house with everything you could want. The pizza oven outside is brilliant and the patio sheltered from the wind.
Bedrooms lovely and bright and a fab book, dvd and tape collection -

darvelbeautiful, relaxed break
Left on 06/11/2013 for a stay in June 2013
This was just what I needed , quiet, beautiful, relaxing break with my family. The accommodation was very well maintained , with everything you need. The pool and sauna were excellent. Dornoch itself was lovely and very clean streets. The Glenmorangie Distillery was the highlight of my weekend, a must for all single malt lovers. One down side was you couldn't get a taxi anywhere on a Sat . Maybe the BBQ could be better also. But I'm booking for next year, so overall fantastic.

our 4th easter week spent at wester whinhill. we couldn't do without it. the house is ideal and the pool/sauna add a new dimension to highland holidays. once the woodland/ beach walks, fishing and golfing are done to be able to relax with a sauna and swim is perfect. the boys and the dog love it and although the house was fine, Joan and Jerry continue to improve things such as this year a new kitchen and underfloor heating in the showerroom. well done. it's so good, the 2 boys don't take their xboxes or playstations so its a real family week. perfect.see you next year

We had a lovely time at wester whinnhill. Met by Jerry on arrival with a friendly welcoming smile.
The cottage has everything you need to make your stay comfortable, and the pool is a added bonus. Our boys spent a good few hours enjoying the water.
Dornoch village is a quaint and peaceful place within easy walking distance of the cottage too, with good coffee shops and interesting retail shops to look around.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful holiday. -

Left on 08/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Just back from Wester Whinhill, we stayed from 4th-11th august,
The house is luxurious as a holiday home and the pool is an added bonus.
I went on holiday with my husband, daughter ,son & 1 1/2 year old granddaughter.
There are 4 bedrooms in the house one which has a big en suite with bath &shower; , a beautiful
lounge ,dining room and big kitchen with all you need.At the bottom of the back garden there is a field with cows, calves ,sheep & lambs.
My granddaughter got up early each morning and headed to the back door with her swim ring ready for her morning swim - then she would head down to the bottom of the garden to watch the animals.
We all had a restful holiday the pool was a great way to relax followed by a sauna and Joan & Jerry are very good hosts and are very approachable if you need any information don't hesitate to ask them.
We all thoroughlly reccomend the house & pool and hope to get the chance to go back soon. -

Joan and Jerry were perfect hosts and had thought of everything that's usually missing from holiday cottages. The cottage itself is lovely, very well looked after and very welcoming. The pool is a real added bonus - our boys did not want to leave. Dornoch is lovely, beach is spectacular and a perfect base for exploring further afield.

What a time we have had. Golf for the lads, pool for the kids, walks for the girls and Codie our pup. Cottage fab and well equipped. The setting is the best we have ever had. Never had to use the car for dog walk. Forest behind and beach in front. The Bells will be back!

Excellent accomodation, especially for a family, having plenty of space and facilities. The pool and sauna room were well used and provided an additional bonus to our trip.
The house is located in an ideal position for local amenities and exploring the North of Scotland -

Left on 07/29/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Despite some poor weather initially, we all enjoyed our weeek in Dornoch. There was sufficient room for all 8 of us. The kids enjoyed using the pool and we even managed a barbecue one evening, when the weather improved. There is plenty of lovely coast and other activities in the area.

LauderA fantastic holiday home with all your needs covered...
Left on 07/24/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We would thoroughly recommend this holiday home. The house is clean and modern with every need catered for (utensils in kitchen, games and sand toys for children, Dvds, books, holiday advice, CD players, etc.). The children loved the endless swimming pool, and the adults enjoyed a swim too. The sauna is a fantastic addition and there is also a small steam room. The garden gives enough space for children to run around, and the views from both sides of the house are fantastic (Dornoch Firth to one side and the beautiful countryside to the other). The location is ideal, with plenty to do in the surrounding area - we stayed for 1 week but could have found enough to do for 2 weeks. Importantly, too, we appreciated Joan and Jerry's professional but relaxed approach.
Thank you! -

HamiltonFantastic!!!
Left on 07/24/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We stayed here with our kids & my parents & Rosie the dog. The house had every comfort & lots of little extras you don't always get when self catering like some basic storecupboard items e.g. salt & oil. The location is beautiful & the views across the firth are amazing. My son particulary loved the little pool which he was in at least twice a day. He spent so much time in it that i don't think he switched on his Nintendo DS once! The beds were huge & comfy. There was a good range of books, Cd's & Dvd's in the house too. There are lots of local walks which was great for the dog & we spent a lot of time watching the Housemartins who were darting in & out of their nest just above the patio doors as they were feeding their babies. Even got a glimpse or 2 of them. Joan & Jerry are very friendly & glad to give any advice on the local area. Jerry recommended a local restaurant where we had a lovely meal. The only thing I felt that could be improved upon was that the folder with local information in it had a lot of out of date leaflets in it but this is a very minor glitch in an otherwise perfect holiday.

Fantastic house, pool, beds in fact everything. The little touches in the kitchen like the wine in the fridge and the handy tea, coffee, milk, etc. made it even better. The pool kept 2 boys (11 & 13) very happy, the games equipment was another added bonus.

Left on 04/28/2011 for a stay in April 2011
Dornoch and surrounding area is fantastic for wholesome outdoor family fun - cycling, beach, golf, forest walks, hills, fishing etc. There is superb produce available locally too, and Wester Whinhill provides a really good location - proximity to town but far enough out to be very peaceful. The cottage is well equipped, very comfortable and of course there is the pool and sauna to relax in or retreat to if it rains too much. Our children (12,8) absolutely loved it.
