Dunkirk is a fantastic beachfront villa incorporating 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in 2144 sq ft. Perfect location for relaxing by the sea, but close enough to the amenities of oistins and Bridgetown, and the infamous nightlife of the St. Lawrence gap.

We enjoyed our three week stay at Porters Court #8. The staff was friendly and helpful and gave us good advice on where to find things on the island. The location is very convenient to the beach and just a short drive into Holetown or Speightstown for groceries, shopping or a bite to eat. There is a bus stop on the main road just a minute from the villa. Veronica did a great job of keeping the place clean and Denys kept the grounds trimmed and beautiful. I would go back to this complex again.
Number 8 was well equipped as far as basics are concerned. There are lots of dishes, cuttlery, knives, pots glasses even a cookbook and first aid kit. There are lots of towels and even a tablecloth for the large table on the porch. There is a new flat screen TV and satelite receiver. However, it is in need of some repairs. Both safes were broken and out of order, which was not a big problem because the security system was excellent - on all doors and windows. The fan in one bedroom was not working and as the windows were all locked shut, you either had to run the air conditioning, which was very quiet, or sleep in a stuffy room. It would have been nice to be able to open a window at night to enjoy the evening breeze. One of the toilet seats broke a connecting bolt when we were there so it slid around if you sat on it. Also there is no Internet access in this villa. You can "borrow" wifi from number 7 if you stand at the kitchen door or go to the pool to access number 6's wifi. This is inconvenient if you are trying to keep up with news or e-mail from back home. the furniture in number 8 is not very comfortable as there is only a low backed sofa in the lounge area and the wooden chairs on the porch. We found the porch chairs were tolerable if you doubled up the cushions. The villa needs some basic maintenance to the porch and bathrooms.
I was also disappointed that the staff at alpheus did not answer my questions about the villa with a straightforward response. I specifically asked if the villa had Internet access and was told that it had all of the amenities. Yes it has all of the amenities, except for Internet. If I had known, I would have brought my laptop instead of my iPod and then I could have arranged dial-up though the agent in Holetown. This would have been more convenient than stealing wifi from the neighbours who's owners had paid for Internet access.
I understand that number 8 rents for slightly less than the other villas in the complex, but if I return to Barbados, I will try one of the better maintained villas in this complex and spend the extra money.
