Rory was the perfect host, he was answering all our questions, gave us great tips about the best pubs and the best food in the neighborhood as well as advise for the best trips to go to.
The breakfast was really good with his famous self-made scones. What I missed a little was real coffee ;-) But there is a shop downstairs which served me well as a cappuccino supplier!
A great experience was to watch the debate about the next Irish president together with Rory and share our opinions about the candidates.
Rorys home is a great place to stay, to meet new people and to get to know the real Dublin. Me and my boyfriend will definitely come back there!
Ps: We have also seen the renewed bathroom and it really is clean and nice now.

Me and my wife stayed at Rory's place twice, once at the beginning of our vacation and again at the end, for a total of 5 nights.
Right from the beginning, Rory has been very helpful with our trip organization and I have to say, all of his 'tips' we good and accurate. He really knows what he's talking about, be it for our planned length of stay in Belfast which he recommended we make shorter (he was right), for the good restaurants and places to go to, etc.
He was very available and made us feel at home. If anything should be improved, my wife says it would be the bathroom, but nothing to stop us from going back there or recommend the place. There is also a lot of traffic on the street at night which might bother noise-sensitive people, but didn't stop us from sleeping very well even with the window opened.
So in a word, we felt welcomed, safe and got all the help we needed in a very friendly atmosphere. Thanks a lot! Read more
Response from Rory your host in Dublin - 10/04/2011
Jacques thanks again for your nice words. The great news is that I have now renewed and refurbished the tiling and flooring of the bathroom so that cleaning is now much easier and once the bathroom is clean this is much clearer to see than before! Your comments were very helpful and constructive and I am looking forward to welcoming you again to my home, this time with a bathroom you will be very pleased with!

Our experience staying with Rory was truly remarkable!

My son and I stayed with Rory for 10 days in august and it was a wonderful experience. The location was great and we were able to walk to see Dublin Castle, Guinness, Museum of Modern art, The Garden of Remembrance, among many other places. Rory was always very helpful in giving us directions and telling us places of interest that we should see. I can't say enough good things about Rory. He is a very gracious host and you can't go wrong staying there. Rory makes some "Delicious" scones for breakfast too! So if you are looking for a reasonable, comfortable place to stay while you are visiting Ireland, you can't go wrong staying here. There is also a movie theater very close by if you would like to relax for awhile and many good places to eat. I would also recommend visiting The Temple Bar, it truly is awesome. Anyway, our stay with Rory was better than I can say in words. He made our stay one of the best we have ever had.

Rory was a great host and I would stay with him again. He was very nice, and super helpful when it came to planning what to see. Rory even made fresh scones for breakfast! My room was clean, comfortable, and well appointed, with all the little extras (note paper/pens, tea/coffee station, maps of the area, guide books) one would expect from a pricey hotel. He also offers airport transfers for a nominal fee. As Rory has several rooms available I was able to meet other lovely travelers as well. Overall great experience!

I was very comfortable with Rory's accommodations. He is a gracious host. He provides great suggestions on how to get the best experience in Dublin. The double couch bed is really comfortable. Great city views with an easy walk to the city center. Don't miss the scones!"
Comfortable and excellently located.

My fiancee and I stayed with Rory for our stay in Dublin and we couldn't have asked for a better host, nor a more comfortable stay. Rory was extremely attentive, very informative and made us feel as if we were his only guests. His ability to anticipate our needs was exceptional and we simply couldn't recommend him more; a most friendly host indeed.

Rory was an excellent host, and wonderful person. Our room was clean and comfortable and each morning we were treated to freshly-baked scones (Rory, I need your recipe) and a lovely breakfast table. Rory can give you as much or as little direction as you want regarding your stay in Dublin, which we greatly appreciated. My boyfriend and I have nothing but good things to say about our host and our experience at his place!
Very professional hosting

Rory was my first hosting and experience. I was searching for the cheap host but found much more than in expensive hotel. He gave me a lot of useful information and advises on Ireland. He is a very pleasant person to talk with or he will live you on your own if you want. He is very professional in hosting people and know how to organize it better, so you will feel very comfortable there. The location is very good. Quite near to the center and the best bars, there is a very good view from the balcony in the living room. The place is quiet and you can sleep well in the night. The room itself is cozy and comfortable I found books about Dublin and Ireland in the room.

It was a blast staying with Rory at his apartment. Very nice location and a lot of great things to do nearby. Rory was very nice and helped us with absolutely everything. So far has been the best host I have had yet staying at a Bn'B...next time I am in Dublin I will definitely be booking with him again.

Rory is hands down the best host in Dublin. It was clean, the neighborhood is centrally located and you can walk or take the tram pretty much everywhere-- plus Rory makes warm scones for breakfast. All in all I couldn't have invented a better place to stay. Thanks for everything!

We had a fabulous time staying at Rory's! He is such a warm, welcoming, friendly host and gave us great recommendations on everything from cultivating a love of Guinness to advice on where to eat and where to find great music- all his recommendations were spot on, and his apartment is in a perfect location for exploring Dublin. He always responded promptly to emails as we planned our trip- and went above and beyond to help with airport transportation. Also, the man can make a mean scone and one tasty bowl of porridge! :) We can't recommend him highly enough- and getting to know him when we were in Dublin really added to a great experience in the city!

I would start off by saying that Rory is a great guy, super friendly and helpful. Everything was very straightforward, I had no problems sending money to pay for the room by Paypal in advance and I got above and beyond what I paid for as a guest in his home. He picked me up from the airport, cooked me meals and even showed me a local pub with live traditional Irish music!

Dublin and a Rare Find

Staying here was a great experience all in all. The accommodation is clean and comfortable- and Rory, the host, is charming and affable. He is a treasure trove of knowledge and ideas- sincerely caring about the comfort of his guests. He could not have done more to make me feel at ease and went above and beyond (by any standards) to enhance my enjoyment of Dublin.
The location is perfect as it is close to so many worthy attractions. From a walker's point of view, one could not do better. It is situated within striking distance of a large variety of venues and interesting places. It is also very close to good public transportation.
The service Rory provides is heartfelt and warm. He is an interesting conversationalist and I found him to be consistently reliable and approachable. There were no negative surprises at all and sending a deposit(in advance) for the cost of my accommodation worked well. Rory is good at "following through" and completely trustworthy.
Perhaps due to the general character the host exudes, the home is generally relaxing and comfortable, providing all the necessary basics. More importantly, the environment that has been created is a lovely balance of respectfulness and warmth. My original stay there lasted for 10 days and I was able to thoroughly unwind. Rory was unfailingly congenial and helpful and I chose this home again for a shorter stay later in the same month.
These are all the elements of my stay that I liked best. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely stay here again when next in Dublin. In short, this experience exceeded my expectations and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anybody looking for a conveniently located, cost effective, comfortable and pleasant place to stay while in Dublin. The host himself is a rare find - wonderfully good natured, sincere, witty and well able to share his solid knowledge of Dublin and all things Irish!

We stayed with Rory on Valentine's Day, it was the best decision we could make. I highly recommend Rory's place to anyone who can appreciate a place that's feels like home.
Rory is a wonderful host and a very nice and humorous person, he was very helpful in giving us all the information we needed: interesting places to visit, Irish history and culture, restaurants and pubs, anything you can ask for. The place itself is very nice and comfortable, I could never ask for anything more, I miss Rory's breakfasts already, and I look forward going back to Dublin, to Rory's place.

My husband and I had a really lovely time in Dublin, and much of it was due to where we chose to stay. Our host picked us up from the airport even after our flight was delayed and we showed up really late, all for a very small fee, and took us straight to the apartment and made sure we were comfortable. We loved the hot water bottles in the bed since it was really cold outside, and having access to tea and coffee and a computer in our room really enhanced the experience as well. Breakfasts were lovely and plentiful, and Rory had lots of excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants and sights. We had a great time and would stay here again for sure.

Rory was an absolutely amazing host! If you are looking for nice accomodations and a wonderful person to host you, seriously, look no further. When we arrived Rory picked us up, gave us a map, showed us what we should do and how to get there, recommended an amazing pub for traditional Irish music and then after a long night out we came back to a lovely neat room and a fantastic nights rest! plus a delicious irish breakfast in the morning! I cannot say enough good things about staying with Rory!

This is the perfect place to stay when visiting Dublin. Rory is an excellent host and will go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and pleased. He is a great guy and extremely easy and interesting to talk to! He will pick you up at the airport for a very very reasonable fee. During our stay, he picked us up in the rain and dropped us off at the jail all before he had to catch his own flight. This is the best place to stay in Dublin!!

Three of us stayed very comfortably with Rory at his modest City Centre home. Rory is a knowledgable and gracious host. Our experience with Rory began before we even arrived because Rory was instrumental in helping us plan our trip! Any anxiety about planning the trip was relieved by Rory's organization and enthusiasm, Rory offered suggestions and was available for Skype conversations and emails. Rory provided us with rides to and from the airport. Breakfast was delicious and varied. One of the night's we even fit all three of us into one oversized bed in the living room, quite comfortably! Rory has a great sense of humor and a warm open heart.

Rory is a great and nice guy. Landed in Dublin, he came to pick us up directly at the airport for a very reasonable fee. We found that really handy. He then did a great job helping us decide what to visit during our short stay. He suggested us nice places (like the Cobblestone - make sure to check it out) all at walking distance from his apartment. The room is nice. The bed is comfy and there's instant coffee, tea and an electric water kettle in the room which we found nice and useful. Wifi works great. Overall the apartment is nice and quiet. Excellent value for money. Above all, Rory is possibly the best host you can get. He's funny, generous (he even lent us his camera after ours broke...) and makes a mean porridge! We're definitely going to visit him again when we get the chance!
