Description from the owner

This beautiful and private home is located only 7 minutes from Dublin Airport in the seaside town of Malahide, and makes traveling to and from the airport stress-free and very convenient.

It can comfortable sleep 10 in beds, One King, Two Queens and Four singles.

This lovely brick home has enclosed mature gardens and is surrounded by fields which gives it a country feel within a city space.

A large private office is available for conducting any business while travelling, or to just sit, read, or watch the wood pigeons, small robins and other wild birds flitting about the garden from the large bay window.

    Additional Location Information

The house is located minutes from Malahide's town center where the train or DART can take you to Dublin City or around the country. Although a car is advisable, taxi and bus service is available.
Malahide boasts of fine restaurants, local pubs, great boutiques and beautiful walks by the sea. Malahide Castle, only a mile up the road provides tours and other walks round its extensive, manicured gardens and grounds.

There are several top golf courses located only a few miles away in Portmarnock, Howth and Swords. These include Old Portmarnock, Portmarnock Hotel & Country Club, Royal Dublin, The Island, St. Annes - all link courses. Deer Park in Howth gives a fantastic view of the sea and surrounding area, and during May and June the hill is covered in hundreds of flowering rhododendron trees, making it worth the visit for that sight alone. There is also a Par 3 course located on the Malahide Castle grounds for lighter golfing enjoyment. Tennis courts are also located there.
Several equestrian centers are located within a few mile radius offering riding lessons and “hacking out” if wanted.

The Pavillion Mall is conveniently located a little more than a mile away with supermarkets, clothes shops, chemists, and many other stores. Nearby Howth has an active harbor and marina with several fish markets with fresh daily catches you can cook yourself, or enjoy exquisite seafood at one of their many restaurants. The beautiful fishing town of Skerries just north of Malahide also has incredible views of the sea and wonderful eating places .

This is a wonderful location to tour Ireland from, relax or do business from, and is available year round. This area is filled with unbelievable picturesque beauty and unique seaside towns that few tourists or visitors experience while in Ireland, and it is all on your doorstep here.
The caretaker, Elaine, lives very close by and is there to help you in anyway needed with directions, information or organization, and has lived in the area her whole life.

This home offers the freedom, comfort and privacy to enjoy Ireland on your own terms.
Families, friends, and associates are all very welcome!

      An oasis in the city

Left on 05/10/2013 for a stay in May 2013

I highly recommend this property. We just stayed here for almost 3 weeks and it was fantastic. The house is quite large and perfect for large groups and entertaining. The house is located on a bait of a bust road but don't let that put you off as entry is via electric gates so very safe for children. Once on the grounds of the property you would never know there is a busy road close by as you cannot hear any traffic. In fact as there are lots of bushes and greenery on the property you feel like you are out in the countryside. It is a an oasis in the city.its great to have cooking facilities if you choose to but there are lots of quaint pubs which offer food and plenty of restaurants close by. There is a large shopping centre within 10 minutes walk which is really convenient. The property is so central so makes it the perfect location for seeing all the sights. Padraig the owner is fantastic and very helpful. We had a great time staying here and would definitely stay again. Even my relatives who live close to the property were in awe of the size of the house and the size of the surrounding land. Highly recommended.

      Perfect place to stay

Left on 04/07/2013 for a stay in March 2013

This house worked perfectly for our family. It was clean, spacious and allowed all the members of our group to relax between excursions. The owners were vey helpful and made renting easy. We had never been to Dublin and the location of this house gave us quick access to all the places we wanted to visit. After spending time in the center of Dublin, I would recommend visiting Swords, Howth and the local pub/restaurants in Maladhide. It was all amazing and we'd love to return in the future.

      This House was great!

Left on 03/07/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We were a party of 10 (8 adults and 2 kids) and the house could not have been more perfect. Prior to the trip the communication with the owner (Padraig) and myself was great. Padriag provided me with all of the details needed ahead of time to make settling in to the house seemless. The house is located in a great area (20 minutes north or Dublin city center). The large kitchen allowed us to cook large meals when needed. I would certainly recommend this house rental to anyone looking for a unique housing expierence while visiting the Dublin area

Great stay outside of Dublin--Best of Country and City!

Left on 02/10/2013 for a stay in January 2013

The description of an "Amazing Property Close to Everything" only begins to describe the value and location.

Weary from our flight from NYC, we were pleased that the house was a short 15-20 minutes from Dublin airport--even with traffic. The home is roomy with a great modern kitchen and fireplaces! Even though it is on a relatively busy road and there are neighbors, the landscaping makes you feel very secluded so you can walk the grounds and feel relatively isolated. There is a wonderful view of the fields and on some days the nearby estuary from the second floor.

It is either a short drive/ cab or long walk (be careful on the main road!!) to Malahide where there are some great pubs (Duffy's will do for an evening of Guinness!) and a decent variety of restaurants. You can also walk down to the sea and the beach (something about a deserted windswept seaside).

If you have a car check out nearby Malahide Castle and the grounds (beautiful) and if you go further afield to Howth you can see a great traditional fishing harbor, hike the cliffs (there is a designated path), see seals swimming off the shore (my wife thought they were dogs!) and take in Ireland's Eye, a small uninhabited island north of Howth Harbor.

When tired of "country" life avoid the Dublin commuter traffic and take the dart (Dublin Rail) from Malahide to Dublin to sight see in this great modern city. O'Connell Street, Stephen's Green, Temple Bar (great night life and music), The Guinness Museum, Trinity College (where the Book of Kells is located) and then back to the pubs--after a few pints you'll be glad you didn't drive!

With the money we saved on this accommodation, we didn't mind spending more in the restaurants and pubs and buying souvenirs for friends and family.

We went in January and it is cold and it takes getting used to--bring warm, long underwear!

We'll definitely be back--maybe even to golf the local clubs nearby (thinking more the summer this time).

      Best Vacation Ever!

Left on 11/02/2012 for a stay in October 2012

This Dublin (Malahide Village) home was the absolute perfect retreat for our first Irish family vacation. An easy drive of less than 10 miles from the airport, and a 20 minute train ride to central Dublin, loaded with charm, the large livingroom with extremely comfortable furniture and a big tv with lots of channels, wonderful to come home to each night after long days site-seeing! There is even a separate lounge area great if there would have been teenagers in our group to have their own space! There are large windows in every room to overlook the beautifully landscaped grounds including a pond which we so enjoyed each morning over breakfast, watching the various water foul visiting, including a huge blue heron! The gourmet kitchen with dishwasher and fabulous 6 burner gas stove made life easy for us since my son is on a strict vegan diet and usually cooked his own food, and the adjoining dining room seats eight comfortably, with a gorgeous dining room suite that made us feel like we were living in a castle! The kitchen is equipped with everything you'll need for great family meals! There is also a washer & dryer in the home, which came in handy with a baby in the group! The heating was always comfortable and easily adjustable in each room to suit individual preferences. Oh, and the shower! It is adjustable and accommodated my 6'5" son as well as his 5'5" wife perfectly! And a bathtub for the baby (and grandma too)! The caretaker lives next door and was always available to answer any questions, etc. The owners' son even came around one day to tend his garden on the grounds, and gave us fresh veges for our dinner! Wow! Easy walk on sidewalks to the Malahide Castle, and a little further (a mile or so?) to the train and village with shops and pubs. I felt like I was part of the Irish aristocracy staying at this lovely home, it was truly a treasure and my family will remember this holiday as the best one we have ever had together!

      Whitehedge is a dream house

Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Whitehedge was absolutely fantastic, Malahide is a perfect location for exploring the Dublin area, without all the hustle and bustle of staying too close to the city centre.

The house was a dream. It worked brilliantly for a large group and had just the right level of comfort and space, whilst still being homely and inviting.

The kitchen was well stocked with all the appliances, gadgets and utensils you could need and having the dining area in the same space was lovely.

All the beds were comfortable and the reading area at the top of the staircase, was the perfect place to curl up and enjoy a book.

Whitehedge, was the only house that we were able to find in the Dublin area, that catered for larger groups, and what a find it was! We would definitely return, but next time, it will be for longer than just a weekend.

Thanks so much to Padraig for his brilliant communication, and also to Elaine next door, who went the extra mile."

Debbie and friends - from York, UK.

      Couldn't be better!

Left on 09/30/2012 for a stay in August 2012

This was such a comfortable place to stay while we toured the area. As n older lady I appreciated having a bedroom and bathroom downstairs...also a great heating system for those chilly days. We sat in the garden to relax after a touring day and enjoyed the quiet. For me, who doesn't drive, having a busstop outside the gate was a big plus...I could get into Swords, Malahide and Dublin easily What more could I ask for on holiday!

The best value and greatest experience I have had in years!

Left on 09/29/2012 for a stay in September 2012

When we booked our trip to Ireland we really wanted to "feel" what it would be like to live there; to travel to the local shops, to drive up to "your" house and park in the driveway. Knowing that we could never get that experience from a hotel or B & B we saw this as a great alternative. Not only was it a great base for us to use for day trips (everything is pretty close as we are used to driving a few hours each way to destination points in the states), but on the occasional rainy or cloudy day when we didn't travel, it was so nice to have a large place all to ourselves instead of the confines of a hotel room. Even the largest hotel suite is no match for a house of your own! And very private too which we really liked! :-) There wasn't really any downside as we got so much more for the money spent!

The seaside close to the house Howth just a few miles away Parked in my own driveway! LOL
