From arrival to departure a top class experience with a persoanl

Left on 06/28/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Having read all the excellent comments about the accomodation and the hosts my expectations were high; we were not to be disappointed andrija collected us from the airport stopping at a supermarket en route to stock up with essentials. Wine and beer were waitnig with first class advice from a local who has only yout interests at heart. We stayed 7 nights which on booking we were concerned about, but as it turned out we could have stayed longer, thanks for the champagne on arrival to celebrate our anniversary and I have no hesitation in recommending the appartments to anyone fotunate in vistsing this party of the world which is must in itself.

      Superb stay

Left on 11/04/2010 for a stay in October 2010

Magnificient! Due to the personal, professional and not intrusive behaviour of the great host andrija and his family. Nice and quite surroundings. If you're used to walk some kilometres a day, the 800 m to the Old Town is really no hurdle! You'll feel youself situated in a location between pension, apartment and the convienience of a convienient hotel room - really nice beds, shower and so forth. Add to that the privileg of cooking your own Croatien food in your apartment if you'd prefer not to visit a restaurant one evening. Top-end pieces of advice, recommendations, logistics and stories of Croatian culture are told by andrija, if you'd like him to during your stay. We picked the upper apartment containing a 8m2 balcony. Really nice to sit there during October afternoon at 20C!

Great accomodation in a wonderful location

Left on 11/03/2010 for a stay in October 2010

We stayed here for a few days in October and thought that accomodation was superb! The hosts were very attentive to our needs and supplied us with lots of information about the area. The accomodations are clean, well maintained and well located in a nice neighbourhood, close enough to Old City but far from the crowds. One suggestion I would make would be to have some basic supplies such as seasonings and oil in the kitchen in case someone wanted to cook a meal while there.

Left on 10/27/2010 for a stay in October 2010

My family highly recommends Villa Elly. We cannot say enough good things about our hosts, the location, and the accommodation. We were traveling with our infant son and found our hosts to be very gracious. They set up a crib, offered to get us special supplies for our son, and checked in to make sure all was well. We appreciated all of their fine recommendations. We had wonderful walks, enjoyed easy bus rides to Lapad, and thoroughly explored within the old city walls.

There were five of us, we used two of the apartment. They were really clean, fully furnished and well equiped in the kitchen. The transfer service was great - and they family were so friendly and helpful with maps, restaurant recommendations, umbrellas (yes, it rains in sometimes). When I go back with my family, I will stay here for sure.

We stayed at Villa Elly for 3 nights and had a great experience. The location was close to everything. Andrija was kind and helpful whenever we needed assistance with anything and most importantly had integrity when it comes to giving good value to his customers. It was great to also have a mini kitchenette. The only thing that could have been improved would be the shower, it was not consistently hot but overall this is minor. I'm sure if we would've told andrija about it, he'd make an effort to fix it.
Overall, if you want to stay at a place with good value and great hospitality, Villa Elly is it.

A very convenient apartment in a residential area just 1/2 mile (definitely walking) from the old wall city. Andrija was very helpful in suggesting points of interest in the city. Relaxing location, good view from the patio, washing machine in apartment. Overall --- a great stay in Dubrovnik.

We rented a twin room and it had everything we needed for our stay. The owner is very helpful and is always happy to advise you on different activities and places to see in the Dubrovnik. Andrija picked us up for the airport, and spent over an hour with us telling us about Dubrovnik, places to go, how to get there, places that were overpriced, and so on. He could not have been more helpful. The place was clean, well run, we had a perfect combination of privacy and help on hand if it was ever needed. I would certainly stay there again.

      Fantastic accommodation in every respect

Left on 10/04/2010 for a stay in September 2010

Everything about Villa Elly was just fabulous! Andrija and Elly were on hand to greet us and since we had notified them in advance, we were given a parking space within their property. We stayed in apartment andrea which may be more expensive, but since we were settling in for 4 nights, it was really worth it! It is on the upper level, has a large sitting room with kitchen area, its own washing machine with large drying rack, and best of all was our terrace with a view of the adriatic. Andrija did a great job of explaining everything to us, including various available day trips.
The villa is readily accessible by car from the main road; then once you are there, you can walk into town in 10 minutes -- all downhill. Of course, then it's a steep walk uphill after a day's sightseeing or dinner, but we figure more exercise is always a good thing. If mobility is an issue, there are plenty of buses.
I cannot say enough good things about andrija and his family as a host family; they are all so friendly and so welcoming. We would gladly return or send anyone we know!

After a brilliant welcome at Villa Elly, we were delighted to discover how quiet and comfortable our apartment was. There was everything we needed, and should there have been anything further we wished for, we know we would only needed to have asked.
The location was also excellent, though I wouldn't suggest it if you have mobility problems as it is about a ten minute walk up a hill and a few stairs from the town - really not far at all for most people - and perfect for us.

Really can't say enough good things - we will definitely be visiting again - and hopefully for longer than two nights this time.

The best part about Villa Elly were andrija and his family, who were very welcoming hosts, willing and able to accomodate any request and provide good information. The location is great, just a few minutes walk from old town, yet in a very quiet spot. Accomodations were as advertised; clean, roomy, and the wifi worked great. Andrija's brother even gave me a ride to the port at the end of my stay, which was really appreciated. Stay at Villa Elly - you won't regret it!

Left on 09/09/2010 for a stay in August 2010

We spent 3 nights at Villa Elly in mid august this year and I couldn't rate it highly enough. The aparments are ideally located just ten minutes walks from the gate the old town. The owners were exceptionally helpful, sitting down with us on arrival for a drink and giving us lots of info on things to do locally, the best restaurants and even discount vouchers for these restaurants. We availed of these every night and had fabulous meals everywhere. The owners also very kindly arranged our ferry tickets for travelling on to Korcula and drove us to the port free of charge. The accommodation itself was spotlessly clean. We stayed in apartment Nika, it's a perfect size for 2 people and there was no noise at night time. We would highly recommend staying at Villa Elly for a great value holiday in Dubrovnik.

great place to unwind after seeing the sights

Left on 08/31/2010 for a stay in August 2010

We had the larger apartment on the top floor for three people and it worked out very well. There was a balcony, but because it was so hot we only went out there once. The mosquitoes also kept us inside. The kitchen is well equipped and it was a great place to come back to after a long, hot day of sightseeing. Andrija was very helpful in arranging an island hopping tour and giving us information about the area. His wife was so sweet to drive us to the bus station when we left (no charge). Our flight was late but andrija was there to pick us up (extra charge). The beds are not the best, but this is a great value place. It was clean and everything worked just fine. I would stay there again. The only drawback is the long walk to the Old Town. It's only 800 meters, but on a hot day, it feels like a long walk. Also, we found ourselves walking to and fro during the day and back again for dinner in the Old Town.

Villa Elly is a fantastic place to stay. we were made to feel welcome the moment we stepped off the plane when andrija and his wife picked us up from the airport. The villa is in a lovely quiet area about a 10 min stroll to the walls of the old town (reccomend a bus trip back if you have young children in the heat) as the walk back is pretty steep but would be fine in cooler weather. The apartment is clean and comfortable with a nice balcony as we were in the top floor apartment and has everything one needs for a self catering stay. The main plus of this apartment is the way it is run by andrija and his wife, nothing was ever too much trouble. We would like to thank andrija and Elly for a wonderful stay and would definately return there in the future

We recently stayed with andrija and his family at Villa Elly. Right from the moment andrija picked us up at the airport everything was wonderful. He poured us a beer when we arrived and explained the layout of the city. He recommended a few restaurants and had arranged small discounts. We did try a couple of the restaurants (forgot to take the discount coupons) and they were exceptional. We had dinner twice an Mimoza as the food and service was excellent. The Villa is a short walk to the Old City. We loved the charm of Dubrovnik. A highlight of our trip was a day spent on a 103 year old boat going to three islands. The views of the countryside from the water were amazing! We would highly recommend Villa Elly to anyone travelling to Dubrovnik. Our apartment was spacious, very clean, well-equiped, and had a balcony over-looking the back yard where we sat every night. Andrija was always available to give advice, call to arrange reservations, or just to tell you how to get to the grocery store. Villa Elly was a great experience!

Very friendly/informative/warm/flexible host, Andrija gave us a brief introduction to the city upon our arrival and have recommended us some fabulous restaurants (with special discounts!). The Nika apartment we stayed in is of a good size and well equipped, with air con and kitchenette. It is a 7-8min downhill walk from the old town; and buses from the old town could get you back in 3min if you do not feel like walking up (We walked after the big dinners...)

Another very important point is the attention dispensed by the owners andrea & Elly. Truly excellent!

We started our trip to Croatia (first time) by staying at Villa Elly in Dubrovnik and it was the best thing we could have possibly done. We were picked up punctually at the airport by Nika (the owner's daughter) and greeted by andrija with much friendliness and useful information.

The apartment was spotless, comfortable, well equiped, and located in a quiet area within perfect walking distance of the Old Town and convenient bus stops.

Andrija and Nika provided a great amount of help, information and suggestions (without ever being pushy) that made the rest of our trip in Croatia a treat.

They helped us to arrange a car rental through a local company that dropped the car off at Villa Elly for us at the start of the rental and then allowed us to leave the car at the airport on our departure, all for no extra charge.

When we came back to Dubrovnik on our last night with no accomodation booked, we went to andrija in the hopes that they would have something left (fully booked - no suprise) and he helped us find an apartment near by.

I tend to be sceptical of places that get gobs of glowing reveiws about how great the place is and how friendly the owners/staff are, but Villa Elly is the exception to the rule. Truly excellent place and excellent people. If we ever go back to Dubrovnik, this is the only place we would want to stay.

      Thanks andrija and Nika!

      A lovely place!

Left on 07/19/2010 for a stay in July 2010

My boyfriend and I stayed at Villa Elly for 3 nights, originally we planned for 2 but loved Dubrovnik so much that we booked another night with Villa Elly. Everything about this place is great; it is very quiet, clean, has air conditioning, and although it is not directly in the center of town it is a pleasant walk (only about 10 minutes to the city walls). What made this place so great was the service, Andrija and his family were very helpful and informative. They picked us up from the bus station and drove us to the ferry as well, and any time we had questions or needed anything they were there to help. We stayed in the double room with two twin beds, and to our surprise the room had a nice little refrigerator and an electric kettle with some utensils which was great for us because we were saving our money. When we first checked in they gave us maps and coupon cards to some good restaurants around town, and circled some good places to go (great advice!). Overall I recommend this place, it seems like a good place for all kinds of people (families, couples, old and young).

a excellent value for money, best you can get

Left on 07/05/2010 for a stay in July 2010

I just came back from Croatia for a one week break. I stayed with Andrija and his family during my visit to the historic old town. Andrija is a decent and very friendly host, he looks after his visitors and try his best to help. They made my stay comfortable and welcome, from the moment I got picked up at the airport to the moment I got dropped off.
Apartment Elly is a large, modern and organised family home. I can tell that Andrija look after his property. I stayed in the “marino” suit. The “marino” suit is the only one without a kitchen: just a bedroom with two single beds, fridge, air conditioning, tv, kettle, en-suite toilet+shower room and a small terrace outside. The simple setting was enough to me, it was nice to stay in a place where the bathroom was shining clean, later I noticed that Andrija employs a woman who would scrub the room clean after each family checked out. It is important that the host family prioritises the cleaningness of the rooms.
There are plenty of small grocery shops in easy walking distance. Andrija even walked me to the nearby family restaurant which was much cheaper than the fancy downtown ones (unfortunately it was closed for refurbishment couple of days before I left).
The location of the villa is fabulous. The villa is 5-10 minutes' walk away from the old-town and 5-10 minutes' walk to a local beach. And 3 minutes walk to the bus stop whilst the villa is hiding among a quiet resident area. I would recommend of taking the bus no. 6 until you hit the last stop, the beach is amazing.
I could hear the birds singing in the late afternoon when I sat outside the balcony. And opposite the villa is a private library, when I past the gate, I can’t help to notice the authentic old Croatia summer house. I was lucky when I stayed with Andrija, and I would definitely recommend apartment elly to anyone. Thank you andrija, for being a star!!

This apartment was the largest we stayed in during our Europe travels. Very roomy, clean and location could not be beaten with a short 5 minute walk to the old town. Good air conditioning and no street noise. Andrija is very helpful. Would highly recommend. Would have loved to stay longer.

      A Pleasure All The Way

Left on 07/02/2010 for a stay in June 2010

Our stay at Villa Elly Apartments was an absolute joy. The staff were incredibly hospitable and always willing to help. We stayed in a studio apartment which was clean and comfortable. It had air-conditioning, which was an added bonus considering it was very hot. The apartments are about 800 meters from the old town gate. It’s in a quiet area which makes it very peaceful and relaxing.

Villa Elly Apartments is in good location within walking distance from the old town. If you struggle with stairs or walking uphill, you might find it difficult to negotiate the path that leads to the main road and down to the old town gate. This is however just a general note about the location and not about the apartments.

I can highly recommend Villa Elly Apartments and would easily return for another stay.

Left on 06/15/2010 for a stay in May 2010

My husband and I and a few friends stayed at the Villa Elly apartments in May.

We had a fantastic stay. The apartments are in a good location close to the old town, just a 10-15 minute walk (as long as you don't mind a small hill). They are clean and well equipped and our apartment andrea was particularly spacious with a lovely balcony to relax on.

The added bonus with these apartments and what made our stay so great was andriji and his wife and the fantastic hospitality they showed us. They were so friendly and helpful. Any questions or anything we needed they would always step in to help and go that extra mile.

I would definitely recommend these apartments and at such great value you certainly can't go wrong.

Villa Elly is in a great location - just 10 mins walk from the Old Town, but in a peaceful setting, with great sunsets! We also found a beach nearby that was great for swimming. Apartment was clean, spacious, with a lovely balcony - perfect for enjoying a few drinks after a days activities. Andrija was extremely helpful giving us info on where to go and what to do. If we were returning to Dubrovnik we would stay there again, without a doubt.

Our stay in Villa Elly left nothing to be desired. The apartment was clean, comfortable, had all standard equipment, and was in easy walking distance (about one kilometer) from the old city centre of Dubrovnik. The best thing about our stay, however, were the owners, Ado and Elly, who live on the premises. They were extremely nice, approachable, and helpful, and you can tell that running the place and making their guests feel at home is something they genuinely enjoy. By the way: Ado and Elly pick you up at the airport even at 6 a.m.!!

Very Pleasant Stay in Dubrovnik at Villa Elly

Left on 06/01/2010 for a stay in May 2010

The apartment was excellent value for the price. It was within a 10 minute walk of the Old Town and the kitchen made it possible to have some meals at home. The wireless internet was great to have and the a/C was indispensable (and was the best a/C we had anywhere on our 2-week trip through Central Europe). Andrija and his wife Eleanor are great hosts, not just for Villa Elly but for Dubrovnik as a whole. Highly Recommended!

The appartment is nice and quiet, yet within walking distance to the busy old town - on a footpath that leads along subtropical gardens. An excellent choice for a trip to explore the wonders of Dubrovnik.

      Superb stay

Left on 05/13/2010 for a stay in April 2010

My wife and I had a superb stay at Villa Elly, staying in Apartment Andrea.

Our original booking of 7 nights became 11 nights due to the ash cloud airline crisis, and Andrija was very hospitable in allowing us to continue our stay at half price.

Andrija and his wife could not have helped more with our stay, including restaurant recommendations and assistance with day trips. The apartment was nicely fitted out, allowing us to cook our own meals - which we could enjoy on our private balcony with ocean views, and the complinentary WiFi connection was certainly appreciated.

The location in my opinion is ideal - outside of the crammed old town and a short walk up the hill which was good for walking off a sumptuous lunch or dinner.

I have already recommend Villa Elly to friends considering travelling to Dubrovnik, it is certainly a great choice in a lovely city.

A perfect apartment for a relaxing break. Ideally situated about 10 minutes walk from the old town and near a supermarket. Andrija was a great host and very helpful with details of buses etc when we wanted to venture further afield, although Dubrovnik is so lovely it's easy to spend lots of time without going far. The apartment we had (the 2 bed one) has a fully enclosed balcony so is handy for young children and Andrija provided a cot.

      Excellent owner, wonderfull apartment

Left on 04/21/2010 for a stay in March 2010

With few years’ experience of having acomodation in apartments in quite anumber of European cities in the past few years, the owner of the Villa Elly Apartment was the best we have met.

Shortly after our arrival, Andrija provided us all the information we needed to know, like map of Dubrovnik, weather forecast for the period of our stay (3 nights at end of March), ferry schedules we have asked before departure from home, as well he answered our questions that we didn’t need to visit the tourist information at all. Very much appreciated. The apartment had a spacious living room with some sea view, private parking, kitchen and came complete with a washing machine. This was very useful because Dubrovnik was the last city for our 11-day Slovenian-Croatia trip before the second part of our trip in the UK. It was also in a convenient location. It took about 10-15 minute to walk to the old town. Andrija also recommended few Croatian wine, sold at a lower price than at the shop, for us which saved our time to shop for gift to bring home.

We fully enjoyed our stay at Villa Elly Apartment. Thank-you very much Andrija.

      An enjoyable stay.

Left on 04/19/2010 for a stay in April 2010

We visited Dubrovnik for a week in April 2010 and had a great time! Part of this was due, to the good quality accommodation we stayed in, at Villa Elly Apartments. When we arrived at the airport, we had arranged for Andrija to pick us up and take us straight to the apartments. This cost us €20. Which is much cheaper than a taxi and saved us trying to find the apartment with our suitcases on our own. It's only a 10 minute walk from the Old Town, and in a quiet neighbourhood, easy walking distance to a grocery store and to local bus transportation. The best part was definitely the hospitality shown to us by Andrija and his family. If you like great service, a clean apartment and great location then this is a great place to start. Andrjia is a perfect host and happy to give you advice and suggestions to satisfy all your needs. We would definitely stay here again and feel very comfortable to recommend this property to all our best friends. It is an apartment that comes with 5 star service, thanks to the Benic family.

comfortable and easy: no-frills, no worries, great value

Left on 04/06/2010 for a stay in March 2010

This is not a hotel, but rather a set of self-catering apartments of different sizes, in the upper floors of a large, modern, family house. Andrija and his family were very friendly, relaxed and helpful. They made my stay comfortable and uncomplicated, from the moment they picked me up at the airport to the moment they dropped me off again.

I stayed in the smallest apartment, "Marino", which I think is the only one without a kitchen: just a bedroom with two single beds, fridge, kettle, en-suite toilet+shower room and a small terrace outside. In other words, pretty much what you get in many hotel rooms (albeit without the surface glitter and shine that a hotel with 3 or more stars would put on it) but at a fraction of the cost, and without an
extra charge for internet use. Breakfast is up to you to organize: there are plenty of small grocery shops in easy walking distance, including one at the old-town gate that seems to be always open.

The villa is 5-10 minutes' walk away from the old-town (which by the way is the most beautifully astonishing sight I have seen in some quite extensive travels in Europe) and 5-10 minutes' walk, in the opposite direction, from the swanky Bellevue and Rixos hotels, where my conference was. For me, an academic on a tight budget, the villa was ideal. I'd certainly choose to stay there again—if I were there on holiday, I'd probably want to try out one of the larger apartments.
