Description from the owner
From the convenient ground floor location of this historic 1903 Austro-Hungarian building, enjoy easy access to the sandy beach just steps away and the beautiful old city. This property was judged winner of the "Top Vacation Rental 2012 - Dubrovnik" award by Trip Advisor/FlipKey and rated "Excellent".

DorsetLovely apartment in a lovely city
Left on 06/16/2013 for a stay in May 2013
The apartment was great - very spacious, even for 5 girls! Well equipped - I think anything that might be needed during the stay (from towels and bedding to washing powder and toiletries!) was available.
The location was also brilliant. Just on the edge of the old city, everything was pretty much on our doorstep: the beach across the road, and a number of restaurants and attractions (including cable car) 5-10 minutes walk away. And there is a shop for groceries a 5 minute walk away.
Chris (the owner) was very helpful and friendly throughout. There was the option of booking a number of excursions through Chris. It was also nice to have the option of paying upfront for transfers to and from the airport, with piece of mind that someone is waiting for you upon arrival to whisk you straight to the apartment!
Thank you for helping to make our stay in Dubrovnik a lovely one!Response from Absolutely Dubrovnik - 06/17/2013

Kylie, thank you for the kind words - we really appreciate the feedback. This year we've created the new site www.AbsolutelyDubrovnik.com to help guests work out what there is to do in Dubrovnik, book Transfers and Tours - and answer many Frequently Asked Questions, as a part of their holiday planning. I'm so glad that the process works and helped you have a wonderful holiday in Dubrovnik.
Take care, and we hope to see you again next year in this lovely city!

Left on 05/27/2013 for a stay in May 2013
Six members of our family (3 generations) stayed here in May 2013. The reason for our visit was to attend a family wedding at St Ignacius Church in the Old Town.
The apartment has everything that you could wish for; easy access for the Old Town (no steep hills and only a few steps),just across the road from a beautiful beach, lots of restaurants nearby to choose from, a bakery/patisserie and convenience shop 2 minutes walk and the most fantastic views from the bedroom windows. We stayed for nine days and it felt like home from home. Nobody wanted to leave and we shall certainly be back! Thank you so much to Chris and Joan for all the information and advice they gave before our trip and to Goga who was our help and advice on the ground - a real treasure!

Thank you Patricia - we are so glad that the wedding went off without a hitch (so to speak...). You did some great planning for the event and we are glad that our contributions were useful - as usual, good planning pays off. We are grateful that you chose Absolutely Dubrovnik to help with your planning and this apartment on the beach and near the old town as the base for your family. Come and stay with us again soon.

Our family of 4 stayed at this lovely apartment in July 2012 for 12 days. It was one of the best vacations we have had. No one wanted to leave! It was very reasonably priced (great value for money!) easy to book, beautiful, a few minutes walk to restaurants and shops, and just a few steps from the beach! The location cannot be beat! Chris and Joan gave us lots of great info on the area, things to do for the kids, and great restaurant recommendations. We can't wait to go back! Thank you so much!

Ann, thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed your holiday and that we were able to contribute - there is nothing more important for us. I gather the walking tour of the old town was a hit with the kids too.

Wow! For my 60th birthday, 1 week after retiring, meeting a good friend from Germany and staying in this perfect apartment...what more could a girl ask for?
This was the easiest transaction to complete. chris and joan have thought of everything and has a fantastic staff to help with your every need. Azra and Melita were so nice. i am reading every book i can find about this area now. What a history.
the aC was so nice to turn on after a hot day and the temps in the evening were sublime.
we ate at so many great places. Had my birthday dinner at Revelin, on a beautiful deck with trees, views to die for, kitties looking for handouts and mediterranean lobster, yum, yum. we were introduced to a new wine called Grz (can you say that?), which was like a chardonnay but a bit crisper and with a fruit foreward taste. loved the old town dining after all the tour boats had gone...we felt like locals and got to know a few of them during our 12 day stay.
Since we were there in october we got quite a few good deals on boat excursions, ect, due to it being the end of the "season" It is worth asking if you are here at this time.
the weather was perfect, the soft breezes welcome and the water warm.
i would recommend a stay here to anyone.Response from Absolutely Dubrovnik - 10/28/2012

I was just here in September of 2012 with 2 other girlfriends. What an amazing property - immaculate, quaint, cozy, with everything we could possibly need including a full kitchen and laundry. I have been to many countries in Europe, and this is by far the largest place I have ever stayed in. The property is very well maintained, and you can tell the owners really take pride in the details. There are extras such as hairdryers, umbrellas, beach towels, beach chairs, wifi, and even spices in the kitchen. I felt like I was in my home away from home. And the location and the view are outstanding. It is literally about a 5 minute walk to and from the old town, and it is located right at the top of the stairs from the main beach. I love the fact it's located on the side of town that feels local and non-touristy (even though we are tourists!). We didn't walk to the other side for a few days, and quickly realized how lucky we were to be in this location. I have never traveled to Europe and felt so at home. Thank you for such an amazing place to stay. I would recommend this for groups of friends, and for families, even with small children. It is also an amazing location for older people because it is right down by the sea, and very few steps to get in the apartment. A crib was available, and tons of storage for our things. I would definitely come back!

Thanks for the thoughtful comments Ashley and taking the time to create a review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. The location was a big factor when we purchased our home here - convenience, no stairs, views, local community - yet great proximity to the old town. During the winter, Joan spends a lot of time each year upgrading the apartment furnishings and kitchen. This year we are new Italian floor and wall tiles into the bathroom and kitchen - as well as putting in a new shower and heated towel rail.
You'll have to come back soon to see for yourself :)

What a fabulous place! The location - the view - the facilities - the efficient staff...unbeatable.
The only downside was we didn't stay long enough in this beautiful apartment.
We have been travelling the world for quite a while now and I can honestly say that this apartment was one of the best we have ever stayed in.
The location was amazing - close enough to the old city to feel like you are staying there but far enough away for a little bit of peace and quiet when needed. Plus being across the road from the beach was a definite winner!!!
The facilities were all of a top standard and well maintained. We instantly felt at home.
Thank you so much for a fantastic stay. :)Response from Absolutely Dubrovnik - 09/08/2012

Thanks Claire - "one of the best we have ever stayed in" is quite an accolate! Joan and I are so glad that your family had such a great stay enjoying the wonderful location - we love the "walkability" too! With a 4 and 6 year old it's definitely important to avoid the many stairs in Dubrovnik and stay close to the city as those legs really get tired at the end of a long day.
Take care on the rest of your tour and please stop in and see us next time you're in Dubrovnik or Seattle.

We stayed in this apartment in august 2012 and it was truly a memorable experience. The owners have thought of everything for this apartment. even have games and nappies left for children! (as we were two couples it didn't apply to us but nevertheless , how thoughtful was it all)Some previous guests had left tea, coffee etc behind which was great to have a cuppa when we arrived. We also left some bits behind for future use. As regards location, perfect!! Beach just across the road (beach towels provided) small shop with everything just few minutes walk away. lovely fresh bread every morning for breakfast (lots to choose from). great tips brochure left in apartment. Thanks sooo much for recommending Mea Culpa 3, excellent food and value.Yes, do go up on the cable car. A group of 12 of us did it and what a great view you get of the city. Ask for a discount for tickets if going in a group, we did and got one free!!

Left on 07/30/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This is a beautiful appartment in a historic building, over-looking Dubrovnik's only real 'beach.' Inside the cool and relaxing interior is everything you might need to help you enjoy your holiday. Good beds in light and airy rooms. A large bathroom with jucuzzi shower. The neat kitchen is extremely well- equipped, having a useful washer and dryer; ideal for sorting out the beach gear. The owners give you all the necessary advice and suggestions and mid stay cleaners call to keep it all looking smart. Everything you need for a small child too but do watch the road outside, as there isn't a pavement on the appartment side of the street.

Really enjoyed our stay in Dubrovnik - it is a beautiful place and deserves the label it is known for as "The Jewel in the Crown" - truly stunning.
The apartment on Frana Supila was extremely well equiped with everything you might need and was very comfortable.
The location was superb - just a few minutes walk to the old town. The information supplied in the apartment was comprehensive and very useful. We dined out every lunch and dinner at the restaurants Chris and Joan had suggested and had some lovely meals. We recommend you try the local Dingac red wine - we thought it was really nice.
We took a couple of day trips that Chris recommended, to Montenegro and also to Mostar in Bosnia - both worth going to.
Will definetly return to Dubrovnik again some day and will be staying at the same apartment if its still available.Response from Absolutely Dubrovnik - 07/11/2012

Rawyn, so glad that you had a great time in Dubrovnik. IT is indeed a superb location so close to everything. The location and the lack of steps were the big things for us too. Delighted that the Personal Tours to Mostar and Montenegro worked out so well - aren't they wonderful places! Joan and I updated both the Restaurant and Shopping Guides extensively in the Winter and are glad that they are proving worthwhile. Let us know in plenty of time if you are heading our way again - we book up so early. We'd be happy to hold a week for you while you nail down flights etc :)

Chris & Joan are both incredible hosts. Even before we arrived they provided great advice and were willing to provide any assistance on anything we asked. Their home was wonderful. So close to both the city walls and also the great beach. Nothing was spared in terms of amenities, from towels to a fully equiped kitchen. This apartment is as well equiped as most regular apartments. It was comfortable and the a/C was most welcome in the very hot weather we experienced. We could not recommend this place highly enough. No walking up stairs and on the 1st floor this was a perfect location.

Left on 06/25/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We had a fantastic week in Dubrovnik. From the moment we were picked up at the airport the service we received was great! The apartment is perfectly located behind Banje Beach - the most beautiful beach in Dubrovnik - and just a few minutes walk away from the entrance to the historic Old Town walls where you will find a wide variety of restaurants, bars and coffee shops to suit all tastes.
We found the apartment to be exceptionally clean and comfortable, offering everything we could have needed plus more - a kitchen fully stocked with utensils, wifi, a full set of beach towels, hairdryers (vital for four girls!!) and a guide put together by Chris and Joan. The guide was fantastic, despite this being my fourth stay in Dubrovnik (and my second in this particular apartment), Chris and Joan recommended a number of restaurants that were new to me and suggested day trips to islands I had yet to visit.
The apartment aside, I would highly recommend taking a walking tour around the Old Town with a lovely lady called Tea. The tour lasted approximately two hours and she introduced us to lots of hidden gems within the walls whilst entertaining us with much of Dubrovnik's history. This was something recommended and set up for us by Chris and Joan - we are very grateful for all their help in making our trip such a success, I am already looking forward to the next visit!
Response from Absolutely Dubrovnik - 06/27/2012
Owner
Charlotte, so glad that you had such a great time in Dubrovnik again. We hoped that Tea, our official Dubrovnik Guide, would make your walking tour of Dubrovnik something special - and we gather that has hit the mark. As she's lives in the old town - and has lived there much of her life - she knows all of the secrets of the old city - and all of the inhabitants, of which I assume she introduced you to quite a few!
Joan and I try hard to create special Dubrovnik holidays tailored to the needs of you our guests, and attempt to include an appropriate selection of activities and guided and self-guided tours for you.
We had just updated our Top Ten Activities, Shopping Guide and Restaurant Reviews this year - delighted that they provided some new insights on your Island trips and wonderful restaurants and shops.
Thanks again for giving us your feedback on the apartment and the tours we provide to our guests.
Looking forward to having you stay with us again soon!

CalgaryGreat location, Fabulous apt
Left on 04/08/2012 for a stay in March 2012
When we decided to spend 3 1/2 weeks in Dubrovnik in March, I spent a lot of time looking online for the perfect apartment. I emailed several owners, asking for more information, and I was very pleased with the quick response I received from Chris. The excellent photos of the apt are very accurate. The kitchen is very functional, extremely well equipped for any type of meal. The washer and dryer proved a extra benefit for our extended stay. The bedrooms are very large, the bed extremely comfortable. The new couch and chair in the living room is so comfy. The bathroom is large and well designed.
We really enjoyed our stay at the apt and if I had any questions or concerns while there, Azra, the apt manager and her assistant Dino were extremely helpful. Azra arranged for Dino picked us up at the airport and have the basic food needs in the apt until we could shop ourselves.
The apt is across the street from the beach, a few hundred meters from the old city gates and there is a grocery store and bakery on the way to the old city. Lots of excellent restaurants, all within walking distance. The location is
fabulous, close to everything without having the climb the many stairs of the old city, unless you want too...
Chris and Joan have written a very complete book for the apt, all the instructions for the appliances you would need, places to eat, places to shop.
The apt building is right on the one way street coming into the old city area, and there is a little noise from the traffic, but nothing to detract from the apt stay. The bedroom looks out onto the adriatic Sea, never got tired of that view.
We really enjoyed our stay, and we think we found in the best apt for our needs. Comfortable, great location, a home away from home. We loved Croatia...

VancouverBest location; every detail of the apartment perfect
Left on 02/06/2012 for a stay in November 2011
Our family of four spent 2 months in this apartment from October to December 2011.
The location is perfect. Just outside Ploce Gate and the walls of the old city. Views of the old city and old harbour are fantastic. Some days the cruise ships anchor offshore and add to the spectacular sights. We debated about staying inside the old city or outside. We never regretted the decision to stay here. Truly gives your the sense of "old town Dubrovnik" but the benefit of sunshine, views, and virtually no stairs (a rarity in Dubrovnik that you have to experience to fully understand and appreciate).
We swam at the beach directly across the road from the apartment 6 times between November 1st and the first week of December. The water is beautiful aqua-blue and was quite warm (over 20 degrees C) even this late in the year.
The apartment was spotlessly clean. The sheets, duvets, beds, pillows, and towels were all the quality one might expect at the Four Seasons. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with everything you need. We cooked a full Christmas turkey dinner with ease.
There is an excellent aC/Hvac system and during our stay we actually used both the aC and the heat as the different seasons evolved. Views from the bedroom windows are excellent but the apartment does not have outdoor space. The only drawback but this is made up for by an excellent location and easy access to the beach.
We highly recommend it.

We stayed for a week at the apartment on Frana Supila just outside the gate into the old city. I booked after checking many many other apartments and reviews and it was worth while the extra effort in trying to locate this apartment. It is really lovely...well appointed with all the equipment you need in the kitchen and I have to say I am a fussy and particular cook!!! The views from the bedrooms are spectacular and we were blessed with gorgeous weather. We walked everywhere from the apartment, which is so convenient to everything and there is a very good mini supermarket 5 minutes away and a bakery within the same block. I really recommend the apartment and the owner Chris and his agent, Azra really looked after us well. Thankyou.

This flat is well situated just 5 minutes easy walk, on the level, from the southern gate to the Old Town of Dubrovnik. It is very well equipped, with comfortable beds, excellent bathroom and practical kitchen. The sitting room and kitchen are to the back of the building and have no view but the bedrooms look over the road to the sea and island of Lokrum. There is a pleasant local walk away from the traffic. The road outside is busy with local traffic during the day (families with young children would need to take great care as the pavement immediately outside the flat is very narrow) but fairly quiet at night. The arrangements for collecting us and returning us to the airport worked very well. Overall, a very good experience.

Manchester, UKLovely apartment near Dubrovnik old town
Left on 07/27/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Very convenient for beach and old town. We had two young kids with a buggy so the ground floor really suited us. Need to be careful crossing the road outside the apartment as once you open the door you are very close to the road.
The apartment is well stocked with things to do for the kids with good internet.
People mention the noise from the nightclub, neither I nor my wife heard a thing so can't comment.
The owner Chris, was extremely helpful in organising transfers and things to do. Azra who manages the apartment was also great and extremely helpful.
In terms of things to do, I'd recommend the cable car, also there is a very good restaurant at the top. The museum at the top is also worth a visit. Another good restaurant is down the steps just before the supermarket by the entrance to the old town.
Across the road from the apartment and down the steps is a very good beach although it is stony, for a sandy beach get a ferry to Lopud, leaves at 10:15 from old port and gets back at 17:00. Another great beach is St Jacobs, it is up past the argentina hotel and down lots of steps, we got a boat from the old harbour there and back which was perfect.
Overall a great place with a very conveniently located apartment that met all our needs.

James and Sue, thanks for taking the time to review our property and provide such great feedback and thoughts on restaurants and Things to Do. Totally agree on all - we love the wonderful beach ideas that we'll incorporate in the "things to do" lists that we create for all our guests. Have a great Summer and come and see us again soon on a Wine and Olive Spring or Autumn break.
Take care,

Bristol, UKNice apartment in superb location
Left on 07/10/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The service we received before traveling was excellent. The owner provided lots of information and couldn't have been more helpful. He arranged the transfer from the airport, which was very efficient and friendly.
He had also put us in touch with the housekeeper in advance and she arrived punctually to let us in. She also was very friendly but was rather too hurried due to not being able to park her car.
The apartment itself was very good, well decorated and maintained and thoroughly equipped. The location is excellent, 5 minutes walk from the old town, with handy local shops even closer, and right above the beach. The only thing that it lacked was a balcony or outdoor seating area from which to enjoy the magnificent view.
The only problem was the nightclub on the beach below that plays loud music until 4am. The double glazed windows were effective in keeping the noise down and there is air conditioning to compensate for having to keep the windows closed, but it is a bit of a nuisance if you are not the sort to stay out late yourself.

Tony, glad that you had a great vacation with us. The beach front apartment near the old town was indeed a great find. I'll pass on your thanks to all on the pre-travel research and to our local team in Dubrovnik for the good work there.
Kind regards,
Chris

Nottingham, UKPerfect stay in Dubrovnik
Left on 07/06/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We really enjoyed our first visit to Dubrovnik. It is a very beautiful, warm and comfortable city. There is enough to do - if you want to do anything; but it is also possible to relax and do nothing but watch the world go by! We recommend the cable car and open bus tour.
The apartment entirely lives up to its description and is perfectly placed for walking into and out of the city. However it also loses out slightly for location as there is a nightclub very close by that stays open all night and plays loud music. If, as we do, you want to sleep with the windows open and the air con off, then be prepared to be able to hear this music into the small hours.Response from Absolutely Dubrovnik - 07/07/2011

Thanks you for your feedback.
Glad the apartment lived up to expectations and you enjoyed Dubrovnik as much as we do.

ZurichGreat location, well appointed apartment, very homely.
Left on 04/26/2011 for a stay in April 2011
Our booking process was direct with the owner (Chris) and was very easy. We were placed in contact with the local representative who answered all of our pre arrival questions we had. The process was very smooth and stress free.
Myself, my wife, 2 children (1 & 3) and my brother and his wife stayed in this apartment in april for 8 days. The apartment itself is extremely well appointed. It was fully equipped with comfy beds, 1 Queen size in the main room, and two singles in the other room. A sofa couch that sleeps one was in the living room. Spacious bathroom (no bath), and a comfortable living room, dining and well appointed kitchen.
The views across to the water are stunning, and it a short walk to the old town. The beach is literally across the road, and is a great spot. If this place had a balcony, it would top it off, but the building design cannot facilitate this.
The washer and dryer are a great addition when travelling with kids, and we used this a lot.
We booked thinking the sofa bed was a normal sized sofa bed to sleep two people, but it definately is only for one person. We were told that our child could sleep on the sofa bed. Unfortunately this suggestion is completely unworkable, as it is in the middle of the living room adjacent to the kitchen. If a child is asleep, no adult entertaining could occur after their bedtime, which in our childrens case was 7pm. We worked it out by splitting 2 adults (one into a single bed in one room, and one in the living room on the sofa).
The local Representative arranged airport transfers which are very cost effective, comfortable and took the hassles out of our trip. This apartment was a great find and made our stay in Dubrovnik complete, on what was a really enjoyable and memorable trip. We would definately return and stay here again, and recommend anyone to stay here.
This is advertised as sleeping 6, but it really only sleeps 4 comfortably, a 5th could reside on the 1 person sofa bed/couch in the small living room, but this would be an older teenager or adult only.
One Tip - Watch the road outside the apartment building front door - its a blind curve and can be dangerous crossingResponse from Absolutely Dubrovnik - 05/01/2011

Stuart, thanks for the kind words and great review of our booking process, the beach front apartment, and our local team. Good point on the numbers of person that FlipKey shows, as in out text we state that the apartment sleeps 4 adults and 2 children. As you know we also stress this in our email communications when discussing the suitability of the apartment for our guests. It would good if FlipKey would enable us to show the numbers of adults and children that the apartment sleeps without guests having to search for it in the text.
Glad you had a great vacation.
Looking forward to having you stay with us again soon.
Kind regards,
Chris and Joan Davies

Myself and my husband and 7 month old baby along with our friends which have a 22 month old baby stayed in this apartment in april. The rep met us at the door of the apartment, helped with the luggage and babies. She was extremely helpful. The apartment itself was sheer luxury, beautiful bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, Dvds for the kids, beautiful wooden cot and travel cot were provided along with bed linen for both cots. This apartment made our stay in Dubrovnik a most memorable trip. I will be recommending this apartment to anyone I can.

Martina, thank you so much for the kind words. We've actually just upgraded many items in the apartment, adding new bedside lamps, big cosy bath towels, an extra DVD player (now 3), Afghan carpets, more children’s toys, games, CDs and DVDs, upgraded the kitchen equipment - and added the much requested beach towels! We've also improved children’s safety with the new wooden cot (without drop side) and nice new baby bedding for our smallest guests. We are so pleased that you enjoyed them.
Kind regards,

This apartment was really spacious and had everything you would need for a great stay in Dubrovnik. The steps down to Banje Beach are literally a few metres from the front of the apartment and the town is 5 mins walk away. I would definitely recommend staying in this apartment.

Hi Chris
just got back from our trip to Kotor, Montenegro following on from staying at your apartment in Dubrovnik. Both fantastic, but your apartment and location were definitely a highlight of the trip. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay in Dubrovnik and we are desperately thinking of a time that we can return!
Thanks again for a great stay

You would be really pushed to find a better location to stay in Dubrovnik. the beach is just across the (very busy) road and it's a short stroll down the hill to one of the gates to the old walled city, with supermarket, bakery and cafes en route. the view from the (two) bedroom windows in amazing!
The apartment itself is very stylish and well equipped, the only snags being the very busy road right outside the main front door and the fact that the living/dining room is at the back of the building with no outlook. Also there is no outside space, but the beach and the location more than make up for that.Response from Absolutely Dubrovnik - 02/07/2011
Owner
Denise, thank you so much for the kind words. We'll work with the city to manage the traffic past the building. It is a narrow single lane road that gets busier in the high season. Glad that you valued the great location and enjoyed your stay with us in Dubrovnik. Our goal is always to do whatever it takes to provide you the perfect holiday. We’re looking forward to helping you with your next Croatian adventure.

The apartment is in a fantastic location: across the road from the beach, a very short walk to the old town walls, a short boatride to the island of Locrum and within walking distance of several lovely restaurants. There are many luxurious touches in the apartment and the view from the bedroom windows is one to encourage an early rise out of bed in the morning to make the most of the day.

Left on 11/10/2010 for a stay in October 2010
A very comfortable two bedroomed apartment which was modernised to high standard with comfortable furniture and all the equipment we needed for our one week stay.
The location was excellent - directly opposite pebble beach and short walk from old town. Superb views from bedroom windows. Supermarket and bread shop very convenient for our breakfast croissants. Other meals eaten out. Many restaurants to choose from - best value from pizza restaurants of which there were lots.
Enough to do in Dubrovnik for a few days, even with teenagers who were happy to stay on beach. Local buses good for getting around and owner arranged car hire for a day so we could explore wider area.
Airport transfer went smoothly and was slightly cheaper than hiring a local taxi.
