      Beautiful views, great location

Left on 11/04/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We had 2 fantastic nights here, the apartment had beautiful views over Dubrovnik from the wonderful terrace.Only a short walk to the Old Town. Sasha was very helpful upon arrival and was great for recommending things to do and see while in Dubrovnik. We loved Granny, she was just the best, was a pleasure to share her house and her herbal brandy!
We would love to visit again one day as we loved Dubrovnik and staying with Granny made it extra special for us. Would recommend this apartment and Granny to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Dubrovnik.

Basic accommodation, everything you need for a self catering holiday. A fantastic balcony over looking Dubrovnik and the sea. The kitchen is shared although you have your own fridge, sink basic cutlery and tea/coffee making facility's. we didn't do much cooking as the restaurants are ace, also you can buy ready made sandwiches snacks, saving you more time to enjoy the sights!
The apartment was clean and has an ideal location for visiting Dubrovnik (10 min stroll to Dubrovnik old town) loads of little beaches all along the coast a visit to Lokrum island is a must and its also your view from the wicked balcony.

      Fantastic location, lovely company

Left on 08/17/2012 for a stay in July 2012

My mum and I stayed in the Jinx Jinxy apartment for 7 nights and really enjoyed ourselves. We were extremely well looked after by Sasha and his family (particularly his grandma who lives in the adjacent apartment). I would highly recommend a trip to their restaurant, a lovely upmarket evening out with great food. The apartment isn't huge but we found that Dubrovnik had us sufficiently busy that we hardly spent any time there anyway. Even though the view of the sea is only partial it is still stunning with beautiful views of the old city. In sum, would recommend.

Good stay but be aware of Wifi limitations

Left on 07/07/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Lovely place to stay, great location, fabulous big terrace overlooking the most amazing view of the sea looking towards Lokrum Island. Easy access to town if you don't mind a few steps (like most of Dubrovnik). Wifi is available out on the terrace (not in the room) and it worked fine for our laptop but was extremely patchy for our iPads (basically didn't work most of the time). If it was raining, you couldn't easily access Wifi. We were fortunate with beautiful, hot weather so it wasn't a problem. Bedroom is very small but bed was super comfy and aircon worked very well.

In May 2012 we are traveling the 6th time to Dubrovnik. This city is gorgeous and well worth seeing. The apartment Jinx&Jinxy; is small but nice. It has everything you need. It is perfectly located next to the famous old town. The next beach (with a nice beach club) ist also very near. The apartment has a beautiful terrace, where you can have a gorgeous breakfast and where you can also enjoy the evening sea breeze. And you can see a lot of cruise ships passing by almost every morning. The owner-family is very warm and hospitable. You should better book soon, the apartment is very popular!

Two of us stayed at Jinx & Jinxy apartment for seven nights in October. Overall it was a great stay and we were both very much satisfied with all aspects. Apartment is a short and pleasant walk from the Old city. Banje Beach, St. Jacob beach, and one more rocky beach are just 5 minutes away. It's silent at nighttime and romantic on the terrace. Inside one has a big and very comfortable bed, small fridge, air condition and of course breathtaking terrace with the view over old city and Lokrum island. It was all we dreamed about.

Just got back from this place last week and already we miss it very much,A few mins walk into the old town which is just fantastic and very historic. As for the apartment,well..I can say its one of the nicest places I have ever stayed.Very clean and enough space for a couple to enjoy a break as we did,With a lovely large terrace where you can eat breakfast or just relax and enjoy the lovely views of the old town or the island across the sea or even the sunset. We shared the kitchen with the nicest old lady who became a great grandmother while we were there and she brought us a glass of rakia to celebrate the birth of her great grand child.Sasha was a perfect gentleman who advised us on the places where we should visit and he knows a few great restaurants. He also picked us up and took us back to the airport on time.We will be returning around May next year and hope to make it a regular holiday for us.

      Amazing place to stay!

Left on 10/19/2011 for a stay in September 2011

We (being my husband, our 18-month old, and I) stayed here for three nights at the end of September, and really loved it!

An exceptionally clean apartment, with all the amenities that we needed during our stay (including a cot for our little man). The bedroom itself was a slightly tight squeeze for us, but we were travelling in Europe for 6 weeks with a toddler - so we had everything with us except the kitchen sink ... and we were on the terrace for every waking moment that we were at the apartment! There is a shared kitchen that seemed to have everything you could need (including a microwave), but we dined out for lunch and dinner (Dubrovnik was the last stop on our holiday, and I was on cooking strike!).

The apartment is incredibly close to the old town - took us 5 minutes to walk there, and also incredibly close to the beach (less than 5 minutes). Mrs Sabot was exceptionally friendly (giving advice on what to see & do, offering coffee, etc (note that my husband speaks fluent Croatian, so that helped with communication (I am not too sure how fluent her English is)), and was great with our little boy.

And the best - that amazing terrace! - exceptionally large, with magnificent views. We sat there every morning eating our cornflakes, and every night in our PJs admiring the view while drinking wine from the local store (2 minute walk on the way into the old town).

We will definately be going back, and will recommend to anyone that we know going to Dubrovnik.

Note that we had considered splurging, and going all out with an expensive hotel as a finale to our holiday - so glad that we didn't! - we had everything that we needed and wanted at Jinx & Jinxy, for a fraction of the cost that we otherwise would have paid at an expensive hotel.

Could not fault this diddy little apartment, clean, comfy bed, good storage and a fabulous terrace which we could not tear ourselves away from. If I had one comment to make it would be have a light to read with, as main light shines on your knees, did'nt worry me as I had a kindle with a light. Grandma who lives there is a lovely lady and was very kind to us, we made ourselves understood with sign language. Forget the 5 star sterile hotels and treat yourself to the real Dubrovnik hospitality in this lovely home.

Left on 09/21/2011 for a stay in September 2011

We just loved Jinx Jinxy! Sasha picked us up from the airport and took us right to the apartment. We realized it was a Sunday and that it was late, so there was no place to buy wine. When we arrived his Granny, who shared the kitchen with us in the apartment provided us with a huge bottle filled with homeade wine! Great hospitality! We then sat on the balcony with the best view of Dubrovnik with Sasha, had a glass and discussed the things to do and see in the Town, where to eat, what activities were a must and so on. The family was so nice that Sasha's dad also drove us to the bus station when we were leaving! So nice! Granny would make homeade coffee for us in the morning, she was so very sweet. Loved this place!

Amazing view with everthing you could need

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Absolutely loved our 4 night stay here in June. It consisted of a bedroom with large and comfortable double bed, small but well equipped kitchen and a bathroom. It had a lovely terrace where we ate all our meals. This had a stunning view of Dubrovnik and the adriatic.
There is 2 appartments on sight, the other the kitchen is shared with the landlords mother. She was a wonderful lady and we enjoyed our conversations with her dispite the language barrier. She was very generous with the grappe

Some would say the appartment was too small but how big do you need it to be when you're out all day?

It is only 5-10 mins walk into Dubrovnik but some people might not like the hill and the flight of steps on the return.

      Room with a view

Left on 08/21/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We searched Tripadvisor prior to a 2+ week trip to Croatia. We were traveling on a 'shoulder' tourist season (not august) so we felt we didn't need to worry too much about securing a place to stay for each night of our trip. We did feel that getting a spot in Dubrovnik ahead of time would be beneficial, so we booked "Jinx and Jinxy" prior to our departure.

The manager, Sasha was very helpful to work with us ahead of time and when we arrived he was super informative on places to eat and things to see in Dubrovnik. Makes sense, as he grew up there!

The room itself was that - a room in an apartment, 5 minutes walk from the old city. It had a private bath and access to laundry which was nice. The best thing was how very conveniently located to the old town it was with an amazing deck which had an unobstructed view of the old city. Great for evening glasses of wine while snacking on cheese and watching the sunset. Turns out the room was the same one which Sasha grew up in. His mom, 'granny' was quite pleasant.

Gorgeous and tranquil. At night you have the entire city of Dubrovnik lit up for your enjoyment. During the day, sit back and watch the yachts go by. Very close to Banji beach (one of my favorites) and a nice walk into town. Added Bonus: you also have a washer...clothes dry very quickly on the line and this is a nice perk. Apartment is very clean.

Friendly family runs the place and I have stayed in this apt 3 summers in a row. So yes, I would recommend. Just note there are 3 flights of steps going up to the apt off the main road. For us it just meant we could eat more Pag Cheese guilt free!

      Ciao Sasa!

I recommend this apartment because: it is really close to the sea, two beaches are in three minutes walk. It is five minutes away from the Old Town, and it has the very best view on the Old Town, from its huge and beautiful terrace. It is truly special to start the evening on the huge terrace, with a view to the beautiful Lokrum island and the Old Town! You wont forget those moments for sure!

Left on 06/23/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We arrived at 9am into Dubrovnik by car and quickly found our accommodation; it is indeed placed between and just above two swish hotels, less than 5 minutes walk from the Old Town-you reach the house by walking up 3 flights of stairs, but for Dubrovnik, this is nothing! We walked through a charming courtyard garden and were greeted by Stana Sobot, the matriarch of the Sobot family. A lovely, smiley and welcoming lady, she spoke no English but this did not stop her from communicating and offering us the homemade grappa commonly found in Croatia! We found our room to be clean, with a comfortable bed and with our own bathroom and separate toilet. The large balcony has amazing views of the sea and the Old Town (ever so slightly marred by the view of the hotels either side, but hey you can't have everything for 60Euros a night!)and we had sole use of it.
A lovely stay, good value for money and the Sobots were very welcoming and helpful.

      Great Location

Left on 06/06/2011 for a stay in May 2011

I stayed at apartment Zupska for 5 days in May. This apartment is behind apartment Jinx & Jinxy. Location is very good, about 10 minutes walk (downhill) from the Old Town. There are about 20 steps up to the apartment from the road. The apartment itself is a separate building to Jinx and Jinxy with bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, quite basic but it has everything needed. It is in an extremely quiet (but safe) area - no pubs or restaurants around but as I said the old town is only 10 minutes away. The owner, Sasha, picked me up from the airport and dropped me back which was great - same price as a taxi. Sasha was extremely helpful with perfect English.

Dubrovnik is very small so unless you are a sun worshipper, you will need to factor in the price of some day trips (about €40 per person for each trip). The trips will pick up from the Excelsior hotel which is across the road from the apartment, pick up time is early 7.15 - 7.45. I would recommend Mostar in Bosnia and Kotor/Budva in Montenegro (note that Euros are needed for Montenegro). The island of Lokrum is also very pretty for a half day (a boat from the old port runs every hour, no booking needed), the boat trip is about 10 minutes and the return boats are quarter past the hour. I also went to Cavtat - but nohting there so only if you have nothing else to do. Leave at least two hours for the city walls - magnificent but go early before the cruises ship arrive. Also the cable car is a definite must - great views and the cable car trip itself is good. Food is poor in the Old Town, loads of restaurants but the food is very salty and all the menus seem the same. I would recommend Oliva (an Italian) and Nishta (a vegetarian).

It made it very easy to come and go and very easy to come "home" to rest. The accommodation was perfectly clean, tidy and comfortable. the mattress was very comfortable and the linen crisp. Hesitating 3 years ago where to go, I did not relish the prospect of going to Dubrovnik, as to be honest I even didn`t have any idea where it was. However, having spent 2 weeks there, I fell in love with this place, and now planning to go there the 3rd summer in a row. And I must admit that it is not only due to the crystal clean sea and wonderful weather. Sasha and his Granny Stana are very friendly, hospitable and gregarious. The apartment is situated in the immediate vicinity of the beach (and it is not very high in the mountains, which is a benefit indeed) and boasts of a stunning view of the Lokrum Island and the Old Town. Spotlessly clean and well-furnished, it will live up to your expectations and the terrace will doubtlessly take your breath away!

This is the best location you could ever hope for. It really only five minutes from the Old Town Gate and the few beach. Great for enjoying the sea view while relaxing in the heat of the day and then wandering in the old town, having great food and drinks in the evening and then maybe taking in one of the excellent concerts that Dubrovnik is famous for.
The apartment is stunning, spotlessly clean, nicely furnished and with an excellent terrace. I had an amazing, relaxing, happy and hassle free holiday there. I was picked up and taken back to the airport. This was all well organized by the host. This place put me in mind of what France's Côté d'Azure must have felt like before tourism moved in. It's on a cobbled hillside with citrus trees, local people going about their business and lots of old world charm. The apartment was just a couple of minutes walk outside the old town (which you could actually see from the terrace). And because it was so close to the old town we quite could go back and forth throughout the day (for a nap or something else). The best thing about saying here was that we had the town to ourselves when the cruise liners and their clients left for the evening. That was when Dubrovnik was truly magical.
