      Met all of our expectations.

Left on 10/10/2012 for a stay in October 2012

As usual, the staff was very attentive. Home was in good condition and well equipped except the carpeting throughout the unit needs either replacement or deep cleaning, especially the entire staircase. We have stayed at ShipWatch on several occasions and plan to return again.

      Paradise Found...at Martyn!

Left on 07/04/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We stayed at Martyn in June when we were seriously in need of a relaxing, easy getaway and that is exactly what we found. The house is gorgeous with wraparound decks, well appointed bedrooms, a great jacuzzi and an awesome kitchen/DR/Greatroom combo. Easily sleeps 10+. The best part is its location. It is perfectly situated in Ships Watch in Duck about halfway between the ocean and the Sunset Grill. Easy walking distance to lay on the beach or wander down for a cocktail or dinner. A longer, but very doable walk to shopping and restaurants in Duck or to Tommie's Market. We also cooked in a couple of nights with great steaks and seafood from Tommie's. I love to cook, but usually vacation kitchens leave something to be desired...this one was clearly designed by a cook - wide open spaces for lots of people to be in at busy meal times and very well outfitted with absolutely everything we needed to prepare extensive meals. They also provided everything we could have needed (and several things we forgot) - tons of extra towels for the beach, beach chairs/umbreallas, wine openers, extra trash bags, nice selection of movies/books etc. WiFi worked great. We also used the tennis courts and pool and both are great and very well maintained. The pool in particular was far beyond my expectations. We also want to thank the staff at the office. The check-in/out process was far and away the easiest I've ever seen for a rental and they were very helpful with restaurant suggestions and answers to other questions...very concierge service-like. We are already planning a return trip and will definitely go back to Martyn!

      Simply Magnificent

Left on 07/04/2011 for a stay in June 2011

I had the opportunity to stay in Martyn this recent June with my girlfriend. What a delight! She and I found fun in the 1st floor gameroom playing foosball. The nights were still cool during our stay and we loved using the hot tub where most nights we could lean back and stare at the stars. The third floor offers a great kitchen and master suite. We cooked many of our own meals buying food from the nearby gourmet market, Tommy's. Also, appreciated that the house had wifi. Being tennis players we used the courts several times and they were great. The pool was also fantastic. We cannot wait to visit Martyn again the future - a true delight.

Left on 08/25/2010 for a stay in August 2010

The Martyn met all our expectations and we hope it's available the next time we vacation at Ships watch. We left our evaluation of the week when we returned our key at checkout.

Always a good vacation at Ships Watch

Left on 08/02/2010 for a stay in July 2010

The Martyn home had many maintenance issues. The worst being a hole in the lower level ceiling with a bucket underneath for drips...this was a bedroom for one of our party. Vents in kitchen leaked on us and had obviously dripped before since damp damage around the vents was obvious as was the vent in the main floor half bath. Water was apparent in the fireplace, probably from rain.Hopefully there was no mold! One of the beach umbrellas was broken, we sure needed both for our party of 11. We had been owners of the Merimoth for a number of years and so understand how these homes are maintained. When one spends $4,500 for a weeks vacation one does not expect a bucket to catch drips in the middle of a floor! (Just so you know, and you can ask Woody, I am not a complainer)

A Great week at the Beach!

Left on 06/10/2010 for a stay in May 2010

We all loved the house. The week was a bit cooler than we expected so we used the hot tub more than expected. Our only problem was the house had no screens. It would have been the perfect week to open the windows and enjoy the fresh air.

      Wonderful stay at the Martyn!

Left on 04/23/2010 for a stay in April 2010

My husband, my 2 young boys and I stayed at the Martyn for a long weekend. We had an absolutely wonderful time!! The home was so clean and stocked up with anything you needed. The boys loved handing out on the porch in the rocking chairs. We will definitely be coming back to Duck soon!

A very nice week at the beach.

Left on 09/26/2009 for a stay in September 2009

We have rented at Ships Watch before and also stayed with friends who are
owners. Glad to see that the experience is as good as always.

Welcome Brunch on Saturday was excellent!

Liked the house layout, sofa etc.(first time in this one); disappointed/surprised
the house had zero window screens; master bedroom bed was either tired or
just bad;very pleased the outdoor shower worked.

Overall however a very enjoyable week.
