I was told "Carolina Escape" is to be remodeled in late 2013 for

Needs the owner needs to address:
1.I assume they know that the carpet is very dirty.
2.The stove oven is in bad shape.
3.The washer is begining to rust.
The air vents were full of dust. Why were they not cleaned?
The fans were very dirty. I did not use them.
We called maintance to change the filters.
The microwave was very dirty. The maintance man that changed the filter told me to put hot water with detergent in a cup to clean it.
I did not like the bottom floor. It was too damp & a small worm was crawling on the floor. Spraying could have controlled that problem.
The house on the out side was very nice.
The pool was nice.
We did not use the hot bub.
The area was very nice.
Ther pool on the beach was nice.
The club house was nice.
The neighbor across the St cut the grass when he cut his.
Make the changes before I would recommend this property. Read more

Thank you for stopping by and reviewing Carolina Escape! Rest assured that we will submit your suggestions to the owner so they might addressed during the off season. The vents & fans should not have had dust on them and we have taken the necessary step to make sure that this will not occur again. Again, thank you! We hope to see you again next year.
Big and Open but very dirty!!

It's a great size...great neighborhood...perfect location to beach and town but way too dirty! I could not believe we waited until 4 to check in because of cleaning and then when we went in we had to clean and vacuum right away! In the kitchen there were hundreds of ants in the dishwasher!!! The bathrooms were disgusting...I don't even want to say what I found! And then my 2 year old found an old juice box under the sofa and drank it!!! Just filthy! I didn't have a problem with the house but I don't understand the cleanliness! I paid a lot of money for this vacation and I was not expecting to walk into that mess!!! Read more

We are glad that you enjoyed the location of the home and the community. However, we are so disappointed to learn that you were not satisfied with the level of cleanliness upon check-in. I would like to express my apologies that you took the time to clean and vacuum yourself, but please call us if you ever arrive and are disappointed in the cleanliness of the property you've rented. Our housekeeping department will gladly send someone to the property to clean more efficiently. We don't want our guests to lift a finger when they arrive other than to unpack. The problems you mentioned have been brought to the attention of our housekeeping staff so that they do not occur again. Thank you for booking your vacation with Resort Realty, and we hope to see you again next year.

We had never taken a vacation together as a family and were so looking forward to our trip to OBX. This property was perfect: it's immaculately maintained; two blocks from the ocean; walking distance to shopping and eating on Duck Road (be absolutely sure not to miss Duck Donuts!!). My husband, son, son-in-law and sister were able to wow us with their amazing culinary skills in the fully stocked kitchen. We had wanted our time away to be fun filled and relaxing, and Carolina Escape was truly that -- whether we gathered in the common area for meals, spent mornings and afternoons around and in the perfect pool or were downright silly sitting on the deck around the hot tub in the beautiful OBX evenings -- this was a vacation for us all to remember. Our thanks to Resort Realty.

Everything with rental co. was great. However here are some suggestions about the house itself:
1) Should have some beach items like a beach buggy or wagon.
2) Should have at least some kids bikes.
3) The hot tub needs to be screened in or moved away from the bushes where the mosquitos are just ravenous
4) Needs a garbage disposal in kitchen sink
5) External stairs from the second to third floor deck would be nice so you don't have to go inside from pool to get to kitchen.
6) No remote for tv in bedroom next to hot tub
7) Staff at schooner ridge is a little too rigid about armbands. If someone forgets an armband they wanted them to go back home and get it. Clearly, no one was sneaking in and the beach itself is public anyway.
8) The smoke alarm would go off every time we used the toaster.
Excellent home, awesome vacation!

Carolina Escape Review

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carolina Escape. The home is located in an awesome community with fabulous beach access. The only real down side for us was only having one family room in the entire house. In a house with this many bedrooms, it would be nice to have two living areas.

Location was fabulous, down the hill is all the local shopping you can do. This house is part of a complex, so community center and staff are great, about 3 pools(1 near the beach) to choose from, fitness, game room, tennis, racquetball...Every room at the house had a TV which was great, but in big storms the downstairs room got flooded, didn't think that was very safe, esp a TV wire in water with kids sleeping in the room. It was remedied. The house itself had ample space for our group, but the cleaning staff really needed to do more work. It seemed the kitchen floor hadn't been mopped all summer. Check-in was late, but we were able to go to the community center and spend our time there so that was a plus.

We didn't want to leave, however, even though the carpets were just cleaned, there was all kinds of trash under the sofa, etc. p.s. the house should be advertised that the botton floor floods, even though there is a sign when you get there...cause it did (up to my ankles), but Resort Realty did get right on it..there was someone there within the hour).

Liked the house and it was what we expected. Did have a small issue w/ refrig leak that could have been addressed a little quicker but for the most part it was handled pretty well.

We had a wonderful week (15 of us - all family). The private pool is great even though the Community pool is very close by. With the private pool we didn't have to worry about hitting anyone and could play water polo. The walk to the beach is a little farther than you would want to carry beach items, but there is parking at the beach access pool which works out pretty well. We were close to small grocery stores , but far enough from tourism to retreat. This was a wonderful vacation! The drive from pa to Outer Banks was horribly long - wish we kinew a better route.
1st Time in Duck

This was our 3rd year in the Outer Banks and our 1st time staying in Duck. The house was perfect for our family and stay. The home was very kid friendly, especially with the playground right next door at the community center. We loved our stay so much, this is the 1st time we booked the same house for the next year! Duck is a great little town!
