This house is so clean and well appointed!
We don't want to say too much good because we will get more folks renting it and will get closed out of our two week time slot
This year we had a nor'easter park on top of us for the whole first week but it was so incredible ! To see the force of Mother Nature was awesome
rain rain rain!
We love this house and the fact that we can take our dog just rocks!
Police chief ferguson has hounds too (altho different breed) and is super about the town being dog friendly
We try exceptionally hard to be respectful and clean so we never lose the privelege to bring our dog
Exactly what we were looking for, a week with the ocean in our y

We thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to the Outer Banks. Our rental was fabulous, with gorgeous unobstructed ocean views from many rooms. The large family room has great big windows that look out over the beach and one night we had a fantastic thunder and lightning storm which we watched instead of watching TV! One of our children suggested that we turn off all the lights in the house and watch it like a movie, so I popped some popcorn and we did just that...the lightning was so incredible, the kids were recording it on their phones!
The Outer Banks was very enjoyable. We did all the usual tourist things and had a great time. Unfortunately, not everything was satisfying. We chartered a boat and went fishing, but never expected to come back empty handed! That great big ocean, and we couldn't catch a single fish for 4 hours?!Frustrating!
To counter that, though, we had an unexpected fun time having our family portrait taken. At first, we were bemoaning having to give up vacation time to get all cleaned up and dressed up and made up...seemed like a good idea back in april!! But once we got to the beach location, the kids really cooperated, and perhaps our own vanity took over and we all wanted a good result, so we were all posing and smiling like super models. The photographer Deborah from Mallard Marsh, was super to work with. She had the added challenge of getting our golden retriever to smile...like coordinating the 4 kids wasn't tricky enough. The rental company offers the sitting as a complimentary option when you rent, and we were overdue for a family picture anyway. It was actually a very fun family outing, and when we asked the kids what their "high points" of the trip were, they say the photography session was very fun. Who would've thought?!?
The Outer Banks is beautiful, and unique and charming. Our Resort Realty house was perfect. We would recommend them to anyone.
Most beauthful place we have ever stayed!!!

From the moment we arrived in Duck for an early arrival our check-in was simple. (would suggest pay the extra and check in early, was worth it) From the time we pulled into the drive until the time we pulled out to leave, there is not one thing we would have changed, The home was perfect and more! The amenities were above and beyond what we could have expected. The location was great. Close to great shopping, and activities. The house was spotless and easy access to the beach. Lots of outdoor furniture and a great screened porch, that we ate on almost every day. The best feature of all was the breath-taking view from the living room couch!! Can't say enough about the Pelican Post. It was worth every cent we paid. Just want to thank the owners for sharing their awesome home with us. Thankyou
We survived Sandy!

Nicely equipped house.bright and cheery and pet friendly which is the key to our renting. Our dog loves Being at the beach. (Thank you owners!) we make a point of being very respectful and clean as we don't want this privilege revoked.
One serious consideration is the carpet covered spiral stairs- treacherous! Me and the spouse both fell down them, him with a serious injury requiring surgery.
We have rented it again for next year (what does that tell you??!!). We have been going to NC for many years and have been in many places and liked pelican post a lot. Well done owners and thank you! Read more
Response from Resort Realty Outer Banks - 11/20/2012
Thank you for taking the time to review our property "Pelican Post". At Resort Realty we always take our guests comments and suggestions seriously. We have recommended to this owner that they consider removing or changing the carpet on the steps so this issue does not reoccur. We want to thank you and your husband for your patience in this matter, and we hope he is recovering from his surgery.
Thank you again and please stop in to say hello next year.

Well when we arrived on Sunday the 22nd of July we discovered we did not have air conditioning upstairs (3 bedrooms) we notified Resort reality and a service person came monday to discover that there was a leak in the unit. He had to go back to resort reality to file and get customers approval and then resort reality had to issue a work order. 3 days later we are still dealing withont any air conditioning. Resort reality had their service people install windows air conitioners and in one bedroom the unit was tilting in and water leaked for two days in the room soaking the carpet and ruining our ipad cover. I have filed a complaint with the manager, Fran in the Duck office and want compensation for the ipad cover and days without air conditioning. For the record the service people were wonderful and professional, still this did not feel like a avacation while we are dealing with faulty service that is included in the contract. Read more
Response from Resort Realty Outer Banks - 08/21/2012
We apologize that you experienced Air Conditioning issues while on vacation. As you mentioned in your review, Resort Realty immediately responded to the A/C issue installing window A/C units until the vendor could get the parts required to repair the unit in hopes of you and your family being comfortable during your stay. Regarding the I-Pad cover, our records indicate that we have processed a refund to cover replacement, which you should be receiving soon.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing you on your next OBX vacation.

This is such a comfortable home. We love how we feel like we are in a home, not a typical beach rental. Adjacent to the ocean goes without saying, and the comfortable furnishings make it easy to relax. We love the neighborhood feel of the Duck community. We aren't fond of being next door to a typical "house hotel" where 4 or 5 families stay and bring all the typical noise and commotion.

We had been with Twiddy for 20+ years and in the same house for 11+ years. The owners refused to put new mattresses on the beds despite repeated requests from us, our friends, and other guests. They also put an addition on the house that ruined the whole design. This is the first year at Pelican Post. The house excellently designed and extremely comfortable. We have made our advanced reservations for 2012. 'Nuff said.

Pelican Post sits right on the beach and offered beautiful views of the ocean! We loved having private beach access as well as the outdoor shower and large deck overlooking the ocean. This was our first trip to the OBX and we really lucked out wth the location of this home. Duck is a cool little town and this home sits on a quiet tree lined street. The down side was the home is outdated and too small for a larger group. The house needed some maintenance as well as a good cleaning. The bathrooms were very small and there was no space at all for personal items. The tub and showers had peeling paint. We battled with ants and flies in the kitchen our entire stay. There were no working smoke alarms, many electrical outlets didn't work and the floors in the home were filthy. Even the furniture left us feeling like we may catch something by sitting on it. The spiral staircase was narrow and steep and a few us took a couple of minor spills down the stairs. We would stay in the house again if the price was considerably lower. For our next trip we will research other rentals and look a better value! If you're looking for a quiet home on the beach, this may fit your bill. If you're expecting the home to feel cozy, clean and comfortable, look elsewhere.

The house was great. It had everything one could want to make the week enjoyable. The view was tremendous. The house was located close to shops but not right in the middle of everything which is what we like. The beach was a bit more crowded then we are used to when we come to the Outer Banks but maybe it was becasue we have never been there in July before. The service was great. The person who checked us in was very friendly. The only bad thing about our stay was the condition of two of the bathrooms when we arrived. The one shower still had sand in it from the last guests and the master bath toilet had poop in it even though the wrapper was on the toilet as if it had been cleaned. But the office was very prompt about sending housekeeping to remedy the situation.More good things about the house - the tv was fabulous, the gate on the deck came in handy for the dog and the foot wash on the deck was SO convenient. It was also nice that there was deck furniture. We have stayed in houses in the past with none and we ended up using our sand chairs on the deck. Oh and the screened porch was used WAY more then I expected it to be! It was so nice and clean. Other houses have had screened porches that we were afraid to use because of all the bugs in the corners.Overall we had a great vacation and would definitley reccommend this house to anyone that asked.

The house we stayed in was very nice. It had everything that we wanted, except a pool, but we knew that it didn't have a pool when we booked it. The view from the family room is amazing and you can pretty much see the beach from every room in the house.

Our fourth year at Pelican Post was wonderful as usual. The house is fully stocked and each year we see improvements made or maintenance done to insure that the home is in the best shape possible. What a joy to sit in the comfortable living room and watch the ocean. It doesn't even matter if the weather turns bad...you can still be a part of the action from the comfort of a soft rocking chair with a hot cup of tea. We look forward to next year's visit and are already counting down the weeks!!

We are repeat vacationers at Pelican Post. The view of the ocean is spectacular! The property is well-maintained. The beds are very comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you could need. One of the nice perks of Pelican Post is that we can vacation with our dogs. Our only suggestion for improvement in the property would be to replace living room furniture which shows some wear. The seats on the dining room chairs need to be re-padded for improved comfort. We have stayed at two other properties in the same area, and on the basis of comparison, we feel this is by far the most comfortable. It has all the touches of home. We look forward to returning in future years.
Great house, fantastic view

We rented this house because we wanted an oceanfront home near Duck that allowed pets. The 4-bedroom house was just the right size for our small family.
The house is well furnished and bright and airy, with a fantastic ocean view from the living room and upstairs master bedroom.
The decks are great, with a private walkway leading to a small dunetop deck. The foot shower on the private walkway is very convenient and useful.
The kitchen is very well-equipped and the overall decor of the house is tasteful and comfortable.
The only things that were possible minuses for me were:
- Distance from Duck town center. It was about 2.5 miles, too far for a casual stroll. We rented bicycles, and that made it much more do-able to get into town without driving.
- The decks didn't have comfortable wooden chairs, only flimsy plastic ones. This was only a problem when it got windy, as they'd blow around at night and make noise.
- It would be a great bonus if the house came with bicycles to use so that everyone could take advantage of the nice bike paths leading to town.
I would definitely recommend this house and would definitely stay there again.

My family plans a vacation to the Outer Banks each year...has been doing this for the past 10 years. We have stayed in South Nags Head and in Duck. We have rented two beach homes in Duck and this one is the best. We love the Duck area and hope to return again next year. We might downsize for 2010 as some of the family cannot make it...a wedding in Portland, OR will be held during the time we normally spend at the beach. We are looking for a 3 bedroom...possibly a condo in the Duck/Corolla area...any chance you have such a place???

Pelican Post is about as close to the beach as you can stay! The house is nicely maintained with comfortable beds and living room furniture, and an adequately stocked kitchen. Access to the beach is great with a dunetop deck and steps down to the beach. The views from the decks are wonderful. The only thing I can think of to improve would be more comfortable deck furniture since we spent a lot of time oout there.

We had a multi-generational family vacation with our grown children and grandchild and had a wonderful experience at the Pelican Post. The proximity to the ocean was very convenient for having a very young child in the group and the ocean view was mesmerizing. Check-in and check-out were quick and the house was clean and well supplied. The decking and beach access were superb.
