We have vacationed in the Outer Banks as children ourselves for many years, and now have the pleasure of returning with our children. We have stayed in many homes of differing price points and levels of luxury. We are happy to say this one suited our needs the best and we are glad we found it this year! Cutty Sark was the perfect location for us, just a short walk across the street to the non-crowded beach. It also had not one, but two different views of the ocean- we were on sort of a point allowing you an ocean view from the living room looking toward the front and also from the master suite looking out the left side. Another favorite was the pool. We have stayed in other houses where the pool is shaded by the house all day. This pool was in full sun most of the day making the water temperature perfect. There was plenty of pool furniture including a big umbrella for those that wanted shade. The full bathroom accessible only in the pool area was another big plus. There were also lots of beach chairs, tons of sand toys, boogie boards, and even crabbing equipment. Also worthy of mention is the ice machine- saved us tons of trips to the store for bags of ice! The house was not huge, but was plenty of space for our family of four, two grandparents and two dogs. The grandparents loved their master suite, which was much bigger than the pics made it seem. The house is a bit outdated decor and kitchen wise, but it pleasantly reminded us of the way things were in the Outer Banks before the big real estate/construction boom hit. This is a great house for the price, I don't think you could get a better location or more kid friendly amenties without spending thousands more. We will definately rent again.

Our family loved Cutty Sark! We have been vacationing in the Outer Banks for many years, always in the Kitty Hawk area, so we were a bit aprehensive about going to Duck. Aside from the traffic on move-in day (wish it was a Sunday to Sunday or Friday to Friday rental), we were more than pleased. Cutty Sark was definitely the best-equipped home that we have ever rented. We really appreciated all of the beach chairs and boogie boards, toys, games and pool equipment. The kitchen was very well appointed (though the microwave seemed to take forever to heat things), and furnishings were comfortable and clean. The bedroom layout on the second floor was perfect---parents in one room; children in the other, with bathroom connecting them. And the master suite was wonderful, though we wished the bathroom were a little larger and updated. Cutty Sark's location on a quiet cul de sac was perfect for the safety of little ones, and beach access was so close. We will definitely return to this home!

My husband and I planned our trip around our little dog Mookie and chose Duck because we had been there before and the off-leash laws in Duck allowed Mook to roam the beach under our supervision, of course. Arriving to the Cutty Sark on Christmas Day, Wright Property Management had our papers and key waiting in a drop box for us and we easily located the office and picked them up. Throughout the reservation process, WPM was nothing but helpful and accommodating and I would not hesitate to use them again.
The Cutty Sark itself was exactly what we expected and needed for this mid-winter break. A relaxing, well-appointed home across the private cul-de-sac to easy beach access. Spacious rooms, a great kitchen with everything you need to make a meal right down to the salt, papper and kitchen sponge. Though it was just my spouse, the dog and myself, this home that sleeps 12 seemed cozy for 2.5 of us, with its top floor layout including a master bedroom with fantastic sitting area.
We are always talking about returning. The home's private pool, open in the summer months, was inviting and included a private bathroom (though we didn't go into it). There was an abundance of beach chairs, toys, floats, umbrellas, a game closet and lots and lots of puzzles. Shelves filled with books too! We brought our own sheets and towels, so can't talk about the service that provides them.
Only comment would be for the owners to perhaps think about installing shower heads because the single spout shower head was a little awkward as there was no way to adjust the flow or direction of the water. Its a very, very minor issues but I thought I'd mention it. Lastly, and through no fault of the owner, there are little thorny spurs in the carpet, brought in from anyone walking outside. They got stuck in our feet and in the dog's fur and paws. Ouch! A pair of slippers or flip flops are in order when walking on the carpet, so bring a pair. The best vacuuming in the world isn't going to be able to pry those little suckers out of the carpet, so just be warned. I am sure that any house down there with carpeting will experience the same issue.
We loved the Cutty Sark and I hope too many don't love it too because we won't be able to find an empty week on the calendar to return! Only joking, the Cutty Sark is a lovely and relaxing place to spend a week, any time of the year.Response from Wright Property Management - 01/09/2012

Loved this house. It's not the fanciest, but it's got everything you need and is a terrific value. Great location, nice pool. What really impressed is the extra attention. Pool is cleaned twice/week, but there was a storm and the next morning the pool guy was there cleaning (3X that week). We were contacted to say we could come a day or two early for free since it wasn't booked - so wished we could have. I've been at places that state there are plenty of beach toys, chairs, etc. This is the only place that truly delivered.

Our family had a wonderful stay. Over two weeks we had multiple extended family groups come and go. Everyone had a wonderful time and found the house to be most comfortable. The views from the deck were great, proximity to the beach was easy, the pool was fun and a great time was had by all of us! Thanks to the owners for sharing their beach home and making it so nice for us visitors. We definitely will be back!

We have been home two weeks and are still basking in the relaxation and comfort the Cutty Sark provided. Cutty is perfectly situated on a quiet cul-de-sac just steps away from the ocean. Inside, the Cutty is comfortable and spacious affording all the amenities one could wish for. The ocean views are spectacular, and sunsets, viewed from the upstairs sunroom are breath taking. We loved the hours spent relaxing poolside, reading and conversing with friends and family. The kitchen is very well equipped; enough so that any meal can easily be prepared for in-home dining and entertaining. The reverse floor plan allows for gatherings in the upstairs living area with magnificent ocean views, while the downstairs provides privacy and quiet comfort. The Cutty is well maintained and appointed, making for wonderful vacation memories!

We just returned from our trip to the Outer Banks! This was my first trip to the Banks and I think we found the right town in Duck, NC. We also found the right house. Cutty Sark was clean, had plenty of room, and felt like home. We miss it already!
Part of the charm of the house was the fact that it was so warm and inviting. The owner and management company have done a wonderful job labeling the important things (where things are, light switches, etc.) providing guidance notes for garbage pickup, the fridge, etc.. They proved very helpful. The home had beach toys and chairs, which were great. My one year old loved the smaller beach chairs and the fact that there was a bench full of sand toys.
The house was very close to the beach entrance. You couldn't ask for a better location for the price. My family and I walked to the town of Duck almost daily. The house is only a short drive to most major attractions (from Roanoke Island on one end to Corolla on the other).
I really must commend the owner for keeping the first floor entryway closet clean. Only hours after our arrival, a tornado warning was issued for Duck. The news was showing a storm headed right for the area. We huddled in the closet for about 40 minutes as a severe storm hit the town. We felt safe and secure, especially with a phone in the closet. It turned out we were right to go down there. A strong tornado (don't worry, it's rare!) hit the town of Duck only a few blocks away, damaging a lot of homes. Needless to say, we grew close to Cutty Sark after that!
I want to recommend Cutty Sark to anyone planning a vacation to Duck, NC. I don't want to recommend it too much, however, because I don't want it to get so popular that I will have to fight for a chance to vacation there again. You can bet we're going to! I have been a visitor to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for over twenty-five years. No other rental property I have stayed in compares with the comfort, location, value, and cleanliness of the Cutty Sark. Nestled on a quiet cul-de-sac just a short stroll to the beach, the Cutty Sark offers spacious living quarters, a sparkling clean pool, and all the amenities of home. Nearby Duck offers restaurants and a multitude of shopping opportunities. The ocean views and sunsets are magnificant. The Cutty Sark is our perfect retreat on the Outer Banks!

We have been traveling south to the Outer Banks for 30 years of Family vacations. We have tried different realtors but it seams we always go back to WPM for best service and most accuratre decription of beach house. They have the fastest check-in, most accurate billing and quickest service if there is a problem. Now on to this beach house,
Cutty Sark, well we rented a different beach house for 26 years, but found our uitimate Beach House in Duck. So we have stayed there fore the last 4 years. My Family loves all the wonderful add on the owners have provided .
Beach chairs, great big grill, games and puzzles, beach sand toys for kids, gates for steps, huge ice maker (wow), The swimming pool is cleaned twice, Sat. and mid week, every other house we had with pool was just cleaned once on Sat. (so owner insures a cleaner swimming poo with 2 cleaningsl). But the best thing about this beach house is the location. On a cul-de-sac as close to the ocean as you can get. No traffic for kids, and only the shortest walk I have ever had to beach. Also Tuckhoe and this beach house offer you to go across the street to the Tackhoe sound side, up the hill and park at top and wake down to gazabo walkway anc crabing dock, and see the best sunsets in the outer Banks.
This review was was overdue, and I could go on for hours of the wonderful gualities of this beach house and how we are treated by WPM. They are both the best !!!

The check-in @ WPM was smooth thru drive in lane, very efficent, the beach house was so clean and just wondonful location, not stuck up on one road20miles up in Corolla, but before Duck proper, just so close for us to go back to Food lion and Harris Teter for grocercy's and the 158 the fast road for resturants we desire, just perfect.
We have 3 couples, friends and family 25 to 40 years old for the the week.
We had some good drinker, but they could not run the Ice machine empty. What a + for us drinkers, but the best was the smokers sitting out on the deck (with ashtray) listen ing to the serf rooling in, yes we are that close, it's just wonderful. one cople had kids and there were gates, cribs and hichairs that made it easy to police. Tuckahoe had the best sound side pier for crabbie and sunsets in all of Duck, but it's only avaialble if you have rented a beach house for that week. Just Super -

I'm writing to let you all know how happy we are with Cutty Sark. This home is comfortable and well appointed, including a good selection of books, games and Dvd's
We have made this our summer home away from home for several years now, referring our friends, business colleges and Church family when ever we can! Cutty has enough room to spread out, fantastic views of the ocean; well within walking distance, being one house off the main beach! The Pool has been a great feature for us as well, at first we didn't think we would use it as much, but find our selves in and out at all hours of the day and night!
The Misses and I have stayed here with extended family, our children and even booked it in the winter for a romantic weekend getaway!
This home is very well maintained and you can tell that there is plenty of love and care in how well it is taken care of. Nothing is out of place! This is truly a "family home" and you will feel like it is yours when you visit!

Cutty Sark really is a wonderful rental home to choose if you wish to have a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation. It is right in Duck, NC which is a great location and very close to everything you might want to visit. Duck is the perfect location for people who want to be close to the local attractions, eateries, bars, shops, and waterfront, yet far enough away from the traffic and congestion of the Croatan Highway.
The house itself was wonderful with plenty of room for guests. The kitchen was large and easy to walk through without bumping into anyone else. The dining area was spacious with a long table that could sit lots of people. The couch and "easy chair" were very comfortable. The house was within walking distance of the beach! The bathrooms were clean although some of the rubber traction stickers in the bathtub were coming off.
The master bedroom is huge with a nice sized sitting area with a television and a beautiful view. The kitchen is stocked with pots and pans, a dishwasher, newer oven, newer refrigerator, utentils, coffee pot, toaster, everything you would need to eat every meal inside. The crib was nice and not ancient or rickety-rackety.
The only complaints we had were as follows: There were a LOT of steps and for people who are elderly or have difficulty walking it is hard to get to the family room/kitchen/dining area. The barbeque grill did not work so we had to purchase our own miniature grill. And the deck could be unsafe for small children who could easily climb up on a bench and lean over the railing and fall off, down to the ground 3 stories below. Also -
we ordered the linen package and although the towels and sheets came individually wrapped in plastic bags, some of the sheets had blood stains on them which was DISGUSTING. Also the sheets BARELY fit on the bed and had to be stretched to the max to fit over the bed corners.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would stay at the Cutty Sark again! -

Cutty Sark, though not the most modern, is a well appointed rental property. We had no problem enjoying a week with our two children (1 and 6) and dog. We appreciated amenities such as the beach wagon and well stocked children's video library. It was only a short walk across the cul-de-sac to the beach walkway. We would not hesitate to stay here again.
