If you're going to stay in Duck Dreams, knowing the history of the home is important. Built as a private home for a Cincinnati Ohio family and designed by an artist mother, this home has the feel of a summer home by the sea for families. Whether it is the original paintings by the mother on the walls or the cork board filled with family photos taken over the years, this home takes you back to a simple time when family and vacations were a part of life. Extensively remodeled, the family worked hard to keep the feel and charm of the... house while updating and adding bedrooms, baths and recreation room. All the appliances in the well appointed kitchen are stainless steel. There is also a mini bar w/ice maker and refrigerator for your enjoyment in the rec room. Imagine there is a master bedroom with mini fridge and microwave as well for you to enjoy!!
This home has all the modern amenities you could ever imagine when looking for the ideal vacation spot. Lounge by the seaside pool (13'x26')(make sure to ask about heating the pool $400.00) where you will find pool floats and toys not to mention that all important pool furniture for relaxin outside the pool. Perhaps take a nap in the hammock and allow the gentle flow of the Atlantic Ocean to carry you into a restful slumber. For those perfect moonlit evenings, perhaps enjoy a stroll down the beach (just 25 yards) or relax in the gracious hot tub with room for up to 8 people. When you do decide to spend any day at the beach, enjoy the beach chairs, umbrella, beach toys which are all provided for your relaxation that day.
Bring along everyone from the grandparents to children and even the dog. Elevator gives access to the first and second level of the home making steps no issue for those with limited mobility. The home has nice furnishings and lay-out for a large family and is well equipped, especially in the kitchen. It does however need a good deep cleaning. Things were superficially clean. Kitchen floor in particular needs a good mopping. Also, I reported an ant problem on our first day there so hopefully, this was passed along. Ants on the counters in the kitchen.
Also, it is billed as ocean front which technically it is but home sits so far back that if you are vacationing with elderly that are not very ambulatory, they cannot enjoy the ocean views from the front porch. There is however a nice private long walkway to a bench at the end where you can sit and watch the waves roll in and the home does have an elevator to get to the main floor which also has a handicap-equipped master bedroom and bath.
Nice location, just 2.5 miles north of the center of Duck.

This house was a little older than what I am used to but I was able to bring my dog who didnt come with me this time. The cleaning group didnt clean the house very well because there was a ton of dog hair under all the furniture . The kitchen didnt even have a can opener and the appliances had some age on them. All this would have been acceptable but the rent was very high and I have rented better homes for less. I know it is relative to the time of year but the traffic to get into Duck is an absolute Nightmare!! I only live 2 hours away and it took us 7 hours in bumper to bumper traffic to arrive at the house. Its location on the oceanfront is great. The elevator only goes to the second floor and it was so hard for my elderly parents and aunt and uncle to climb up to the third floor bedrooms.

We've been traveling to the Outer Banks every summer for the past 5 years and sharing a home with friends for a week. Although it is a 13 hour drive for us (we live in ma), it is sooo worth it. We rent an oceanfront home with private pool, hot tub, and game room- the kids (ages 7-10)and family dogs are happy as clams!!
Duck Dreams is a wonderful home. Plenty of room for 2-3 families, with charm and convenience. We've rented this home twice and have never been disappointed. Linens are crisp and clean, and we were even reimbursed for towel sets we didn't use- very nice.

We had a wonderful time and found the home to be very accommodating and comfortable. I do feel certain items should have been better checked pre-rental as the Queen bedroom had no TV for 3 days, shower in Queen BR didn't work at all - needed new showerhead, hot faucet in this bedroom was cold and cold hot (this is minor). Shower in bedroom on bottom level just dribs and drabs of water needed something replaced that couldn't be done right away.. Towel bars in two bathrooms fell apart when touched and lights were out in at least two showers and some outside.
Beach Realty responded promptly and Sam went over and beyond.
We loved the home and would rent again and were very satisfied with Beach Realty and the service they provided in quick response time. Only criticism is should have had all things working in all rooms for the rent charged. .
